BiteSMS, CallBar, SBSettings, Zephyr, need I go on?

If all the Cydia packages that actually made the iPhone better were actually bought up and then implemented by Apple, wouldn't we pretty much have almost no reason to go with Android? Don't you wish Apple would just hire these people already?

Yeah! Just like Comex getting an internship / abandoning the jailbreak community was great for us! Right???

If anything the title should be, "With all that $, shouldn't Apple implement jailbreak tweaks immediately?"

"Cydia Talent" is an oxymoron. If they were that talented and bright, they wouldn't make software for grifters.

I'll concede that.

Everytime I've jailbroken my iPhone, it's to install features that Apple has decided that I don't need, or to customize things about it that Apple previously havent allowed, like custom unlock/lock sounds for example. And apps that would never be allowed in the App store because they replace Stock Apps like SMS, I always used SBSettings because it was incredibly convenient, BiteSMS because it was much better than the default SMS app, and iBlacklist to block incoming calls from certain people.

Some of the people who release things for Cydia are very talented, and contrary to your belief, not everyone who jailbreaks is a "Grifter" who steals apps. Many people just want the freedom to do what they want to the device they paid for.

yeh sure buddy .... maybe if Apple were more talented and bright they'd make common sense apps installed like biteSMS, SBSettings, IntelliscreenX, CallBar, FolderEnchancer etc... you know, things that actually improve iOS use.

And maybe learn up on your use of words like "grifter", how exactly is any of the above considered fraudulent or thievery?

Man, some people have some real enmity towards people who jailbreak.

It's almost like they're mad that an Apple product gets worked on by somebody other than Apple.

Or, they rely on copyright and other IP laws to make a living, and are annoyed that people feel that they have a right to someone else's IP.

So when apple takes (copies, steals) features only offered in cydia and implements them into iOS (notifications, camera from lock screen, etc) that makes them what?

No, jailbroken apps are as buggy as Android.

Are you jailbroken? Sounds like someone speaking on what they've "heard"...

Apple doesn't really need to hire from the jailbreak community because they could honestly implement the features themselves but that's a whole 'nother story..

Apple doesn't need these people to do the ********** obvious and give people the options that some are asking for.

If Apple doesn't do something, it's because they don't want to, not because they can't.

They don't need someone to come in and make something like biteSMS - they could have done that themselves a long time ago.

Doesn't this basically describe every product ever? Why doesn't Sony hire some people to make MKV a natively supported format on the PS3? Why doesn't MS just hire some people to make Windows function more like OS X? Why can't Nintendo get it through their head that we want actually online capability with their consoles? And the list goes on...

Is there another phone out there that fulfills all your needs with no complaints? Even if Apple hired every JB dev out there and implemented everything available, people would still complain and still assert that their JB phones are better than stock. If you want the features of the JB community, do it or buy a phone that has these functions. If you're happy with the stock OS, keep it.

Yeah because Apple haven't taken ideas from Cydia developers and implemented them into IOS.

I guess the concept of simultaneous development doesn't exist in the minds of jailbreakers.

Tell that to the Apple loyalists who give excuse after excuse why (insert feature here) is not in iOS.

You're asking the wrong question, IMO. Most of the Cydia talent is doing things on iOS that Apple will not allow. It is an arbitrary limitation put in place by Apple. If Apple were to allow those things into the App store then there would be little/no reason for Cydia to exist.

A better question would be, "Don't you wish that Apple would just install a gate for their walled garden?" That would allow access to the "wilderness" known as the jailbreaking community. Have the gate closed by default, but allow for a way to access other app store repositories. Have the only way to close the gate again is by a full factory reset.

Of course that will never happen.

Kinda defeatist don't you think? The point is that we shouldn't have to jailbreak to get things like SMS that doesn't kick you out of an app you're on in order to reply.

Jailbreaking is the only thing keeping some people on the iPhone and that fact alone should spur Apple into implementing these features, with or without jailbreak devs. (preferably with, because its those people who understand consumer demand the most)
