There's a man thread, so I thought I'd start a woman thread.

My wrist is 170mm, and while I've been planning on 38mm since the watch was announced, I find myself wondering if the 42mm would look ok. Are any of you females getting the 42mm watch, and if so, what is your wrist size?

I'm not. I'll be getting the 38mm. I don't currently wear a watch and when I did, I preferred something with as low profile as possible. It's really the only thing I'm concerned about with the watch.

Off topic - we have a retired racer :) I assume by your name you do/did?

My wrist is ~165mm and I love big, chunky watches. But with the :apple:watch, I'm torn.

I have one watch that is as thick as the :apple:watch and about the same size and it annoys me. It is a bit too thick and heavy for its size.

I would prefer the 42mm as it would be easier, I'm assuming, to use although it seems apple has done a pretty good job at making the icons identifiable by color. But each of us will have to spend time with it before we know for sure.

Right now, in spite of the above, I'm leaning towards the 38mm. The reason is that I think I'll prefer a more discreet size. Instead of hauling out my 6plus I want to just glance at my wrist without others noticing (in a restaurant or meeting for example).

In terms of looks, I think either would work for me. Personally, I'm glad apple has a two week return policy

My wrists are 180mm. I was pretty set on the 38mm case but after printing out the samples, I'm thinking I may go for the 42mm... decisions, decisions!

Yep! I run a greyhound rescue group in my "spare" time!

The modern buckle is offered only in the 38mm, and the leather loop only in the 42mm, so that comes into play, as well. I like the 38mm space black link, but the only other matching band for that is the sport band. I'd like a leather option, but that requires the 42mm (the 38mm leather bands aren't available with matching black trim).

This is a very good point - I'm not sure I can live with the band selection for the 42mm.

ARGHHHH! I can't decide.

38mm watch.... my wrist is 145mm and while i'd love the bigger watch for more screen space.... it would just be too big and too clunky on my wrist.

I'm getting the 38mm (with Milanese loop). I'm viewing it as functional jewelry, and not my usual nerd statement. I have dainty wrists, so the larger size would look clunky.

With a small wrist size of 135mm, I have no choice but to get a 38mm watch as none of the 42mm compatible bands go down to this measurement.

My wrist is 160mm and I'm getting the 42mm. I don't want to have to squint at the watch, considering I'm going to be reading text on it and not just glancing at the time.

Plus, I have dressier watches that are smaller and I've been wanting a bigger, more casual watch for awhile.

I'm torn between the two sizes. My wrist is small, but I think I'd like the larger screen; however, the band selection for the 42 mm is not the best.

42 as wrist is 184mm and Milanese goes to only 180mm with 38 watch. Would have preferred 38.

My wrist is the exact same. I've wanted the milanese loop since it was first announced. I don't like any of the other bands though. If the leather loop was smooth maybe. Decisions decisions.

The 42mm version will look silly and tasteless on under 18cm wrists.
38mm all the way for a lady.

Wow, some of you have teeny wrists! :)

At this point, I'm back to being almost 100% sure that I'm getting the 38mm with milanese loop, plus a green sports band. And at some point, a leather band.

My wife has wonderful jewelry and watches already. She has carte blanch when it comes to her love of fine designer goods. Apple doesn't even fit in the picture at this point.

If at some point in the future Apple Watch has established a track record as functional and not annoying like her iPhone 6, then I know she'll pay attention and consider one.

Currently, like myself she's not thrilled with Apple's decline in quality and the user experience.

Which leather band? The modern buckle? Brown and midnight blue look the best, but black might be more versatile. Pink might stain too easily.

Yep, Modern Buckle. Likely the black - I don't wear much brown, and blue wouldn't be very versatile, although I do like the look.

HATE the pink. It looks like white that is stained with something.

Yes, I would think the the 42 mm would look a little like you're wearing a clock on your wrist ;)

I wore my iPod Nano (older model, which is basically the same size as the 42 mm except that it's square) on a strap around my wrist a few days. I, realized that it was definitely not the size that would be comfortable for me at all. My wrist is a little under 6 inches/152.4 mm. I also looked, numerous times, in the Apple Store app to compare the actual sizes. It is 38 mm for me all the way, no doubts and no need for "try ons' at the Apple Store for sizing.

I have a 165 wrist ( 5'4") and I will go with the 38; also this is the size for the classic buckle which I want( as well as the sport model for exersise)

I tried the different sizes that are on the apple phone store app. I just held the phone on my wrist( kind of dorky, I know) and the 38 looked right

If I really need a big screen I will dig up my iphone which is always with me anyway

Definitely the 38 mm whenever I end up getting one. I'm only 5'1" and I have small wrists and always struggle with getting bands shortened. I worry some of Apple's bands will need to practically wrap all the way around my wrist to fit properly. I do have some huge clunky fashion watches but those are a completely different beast from a watch that is nearly all screen.

Off topic: kudos to Greytmom on the rescue work. I've got a retired racer from the Jacksonville FL track. One of my best friends also goes by the handle of Greytmom in other venues.

My wifey is going the same way. I think that's a lovely size/band combo. :)
