Won't be home on Friday (Redirect/Pre-sign/Pick up) [Merged]

Yes, I just took care of this last night. I live in a secured building in an urban environment but sometimes UPS won't leave packages even if I sign for them. There's a UPS store around the corner from my building and since I'll be out and about on Friday, this way I won't have to have to worry about not having my phone on the 25th.

FYI-- I submitted the change via MyChoice last night and it took until this morning to show up properly, so don't worry if you do this and it doesn't show up right away.

When I select the UPS store it says it won't be available to pick up until Monday. You've never found that it was pushed out an extra day? If I select the hub it says I can pick it up on Friday.

I set it up in my preferences that all shipments go to that UPS store. I saw what you were describing but somehow it's still working properly for me. I think it's because it doesn't process this as an exception for this shipment but rather just reroutes all my packages to the store for the time being. It's 2 blocks away so the Amazon packages I have coming between now and Friday aren't exactly far away.

I changed all of my packages to go to the UPS Store a couple miles away from my house back in August. So this is par for the course for deliveries to my address.
 
Just make sure your name is on the package or they wont let you pick it up. Apple shipped it in a family members name as they are the account holder. Now I have to sit home waiting for the phone to come =(
 
FYI - I just chatted online with UPS (open until Midnight EDT) and "Marco M" said that if I chose the UPS Store option delivery may be delayed one day.

It depends on how and when you selected the UPS store. In my case I have an "updated" delivery day of Friday despite putting through the change once the phone was shipped. When I had the choice between setting my preference for all packages and doing a one-time exception on the tracking page, it was clear that I should do the preference change, since the one-time exception would have resulted in a delivery day on Monday.

Mine was way early. I have a tracking number and it's ready for ups. No movement yet though. I think I might be good either way. Better than it sitting right outside my apt door. Although I do really hope it's Friday. My delivery date has never changed from 9/25. Yet.
 
There's another lengthy thread on this. Everyone pretty much agrees having it held at your local CC is the way to go. It's what I always do, and have been very happy that way.

I have 2 phones heading to MD. 1 shipped from China, the other Harrisburg. The Harrisburg one left yesterday afternoon for NJ, then to Philadelphia.

I have both phones scheduled for pickup at the UPS Store. I always do that for big or expensive purchases, even though I live in a very safe neighborhood. Makes it easier and I just pick them up in the way home from work. I always get the packages on the original intended delivery date.
 
If you live in a city and can get it the same day, I highly recommend picking up at a local UPS store. I've done if for other packages. In my apartment building, I never know when UPS will show up. Could be 10 am, could be 7 pm and there's always the chance they'll say they left the package but it won't be there, or the dreaded "just leave the notice sticker and don't bother to call for a signature" scenario. The UPS Store near me is safe and the people there are usually super nice.

Unfortunately, I just tried to enable the UPS Store delivery, but it says pick-up would be Monday not Friday, so I'm just going to hope the home delivery works out this time (and UPS usually are pretty good, there's only been the occasional glitch). I suppose there's a chance it could be at the UPS Store on Friday, but I wouldn't want to risk it.

I could try the customer center instead to guarantee Friday but that's a bit of a trek for me.
 
Attempted to have FedEx hold package for in-store pick up. Was told it wasn't an option. One delivery attempt must be made. Any other options?
 
I ordered my iPhone from AT&T during the first day of pre-orders. Now I won't be available to be home all day on the 25th. Are there any options to change the order so that I can pick up my item at the local FedEx facility?

I've had no luck with FedEx's Delivery Manager, AT&T, or FedEx chat. It appears that it is not possible, and that I'll have to wait until the failed delivery attempt on Friday to request pickup at the FedEx facility.
 
Hi I understand there is a form I can fill out for the delivery person to leave the phone at my home.

I can't locate the form on Fed Ex's website. Does anyone have a link to it they could post for me?

I just contact Apple chat to verify that my phone will be shipped to my local UPS pick-up location and I am being told that the only way to have this happen, would be for UPS to make a first attempt at the original shipping address (my home). They would than leave the package at a UPS location of my choosing.
I feel like I am chating with the wrong Apple employee here.
Any help is appreciated.
 
This is weird. I selected pick up at customer center. Doing that always set my status as an exception. And I can see it under the shipment progress that customer requested for pick up. It's been over 24 hours since I did that but my status still show in transit.

How is everyone status looking?
