However, I did successfully change my address through UPS. But now I am nervous that it does not matter since Apple cannot do this on their end. I am told that my phone is prepared for ship status later today, so I can't change address.

I just contact Apple chat to verify that my phone will be shipped to my local UPS pick-up location and I am being told that the only way to have this happen, would be for UPS to make a first attempt at the original shipping address (my home). They would than leave the package at a UPS location of my choosing.
I feel like I am chating with the wrong Apple employee here.
Any help is appreciated.

You're allowed to request a will call at UPS before an initial delivery attempt is made. I have a will call scheduled for Friday.

I was able to get Apple to change my shipping address for my 6 Plus last year. They contacted UPS and my shipping label was changed while my Plus was in Louisville.

Apple is the last entity you want to contact, if you already have your tracking number. As far as they know, they've done their job by delivering it to UPS. UPS will be your best point of contact. And yes, you can have UPS redirect it to your pick-up location of choice. They can best handle and see your "exception".

I've no idea what the website says about if my phone would be delayed if I chose to hold at a store - I've never checked, either for this delivery or any of my previous ones. I DO know that I've never actually had a package delayed. I don't re-route all packages, I just wait for shipping info to come into MyChoice and then make the change in the app. I did that this time also, and both my phones are still delivering on Friday.

I did it on the UPS site through UPS MyChoice.

This.

I just completed this for my and my wife's iPhone 6s shipments. You need to set up a MyChoice account, which is tied to your address. Any packages that are shipping to your address will then show up automatically in your MyChoice account. You can then select a shipment and do things like set up text notifications of the shipment status or reroute it to Hold for Pickup at a UPS facility. If it is a UPS hub, you can pick up the item the same afternoon that you were originally supposed to receive the package. I'm lucky - all iPhones shipped to my area are received at a UPS hub literally two minutes from my office, and they have a pick up desk there. I think having the item held at other UPS facilities (print and ship centers) involve a 1 day delay.

Be aware though - only the named package recipient can pick up iPhones. I confirmed this with UPS chat a short time ago. This is not always the case, but Apple specifies this as a requirement for iPhones. My wife is the named recipient on both our phones, probably because she is the primary on our AT&T account, so I cannot get the phones myself. She must do it.

I am. I posted this in another thread, for everyone's info:

FYI - I just chatted online with UPS (open until Midnight EDT) and "Marco M" said that if I chose the UPS Store option delivery may be delayed one day.
Keyword is "may". I've had a number of items get delivered to a UPS Store and be available for pick up in the morning, where as if I waited for it to deliver to my place, I'd be waiting until 9 PM. The word "may" more than likely comes if your UPS Store gets their mail late and has early closing hours (read: anything less than 5 PM. My local store is 8 A - 7 PM).

I run a UPS store .... UPS ALWAYS MUST deliver every day to every UPS store however the time may vary (we get deliveries at around 1:30PM every day and on a rare day when regular driver is out it could be earlier or later) they never do not deliver or pick up or the driver would be in deep shht due to contract but all stores don't necessarily get delivery early AM. Delivery time depends on driver's route (unless it is next day priority by 10:30A or 12 noon they send a separate truck).

If you are delivering to a UPS store that uses the same delivery center as your home **AND** you setup the rerouting at least 48hrs before scheduled delivery date it will 99.999% of the time be there on the same DAY as you would have had it delivered to your home. If your rerouting has to go through (be changed to) another delivery center due to your location there is a good chance it will be delayed by 1 day.

Example, my home and our store located in NNJ are both served by Edison NJ center so anything I have rerouted with at least 48hrs notice has always been delivered same day as it would have been to my home. They have missed maybe 2 times over the last 5 years when there wasn't 48hrs notice.

If you are sending to any other UPS ACCESS POINT (which could be a furniture store, drug store, barber shop or supermarket or anything else) you have no guarantees as they aren't connected with UPS. They only become access points to make a few bucks on deliveries and they could very well be closed when delivery guy arrives.

Pick a UPS STORE or main deliver Center and you would be better off. Watch out for NON-UPS access points which is a new gimmick from UPS to avoid drivers having to make a return visit to redeliver. They are now just dropping off packages at ANY access points without any request from customer to do so if recipient isn't home.

Well said. This should clear some confusion. Thanks for the info!

I just chatted live with Josue C. and he told me that only I can cancel the request to pick the item up at the hub but assured me that it would be there Friday. Let's hope he isn't wrong.

This is weird. I selected pick up at customer center. Doing that always set my status as an exception. And I can see it under the shipment progress that customer requested for pick up. It's been over 24 hours since I did that but my status still show in transit.

How is everyone status looking?
Mine is still in process. Label time says 9/24 at 11:20. Whatever that means

Phew..... Well, this is exactly what I did prior to chatting with Apple. I signed into my UPSMyChoice account and changed the shipping address to my local UPS Hub. I just thought that I also needed to contact Apple to make them aware of the change of address.
My local hub opens at 8:30, so I presume that if I arrive by 8:00am, I should be ok.

Anyone going to pre-sign for their shipments today?

I got an email from Apple saying that I can pre-sign for my two iPhones so that they will be left at my door tomorrow. I'll be home, but it would remove the risk that I don't hear the door or can't get to it in time.

Of course, I'd be accepting all responsibility if the phones disappear. Any thoughts on this?
