Im just not in love in the square formfactor these kinds of folding displays get
Your assessment is spot on. I've been saying this for years now. Android is the more stable and outright better OS now. Anyone who doesn't believe me should actually try Android out sometime. You'll see the difference. The tables have turned, and 5-6 years ago I would've never thought I would say this, but it is true. I have an iPhone for work, so I experience both OS's daily.iPhone user and iOS fan since 2007.
In 2024 things changes a lot and iOS lost it's smoothness and became an overloaded, laggy OS with destroyed Photo app etc. while Android 15 became an ultra fast and clean OS.
No innovation for iPhone hardware and the huge size as well as heavy weight made me move to Android flip phone until Apple will catch up with the incredible technology coming from Asia.
60HZ and no mini or foldable phone is just sad.
Yes it does, see here:Are you sure about that?
The promo carefully avoids seeing the front of it. I would assume because they are hiding something
though would also need a 5x tele lens to beat my iphone 13 miniI would instantly pay 2500$ for an iPhone 17 Flip or 1500$ for an iPhone 17 Mini.

As much as people worry about it’s that flexible displays are desirable also.Do you want to break your phone now or later?
Oh, I know! Even I'm curious myself. But... I'm still going to joke about how breakable they look.As much as people worry about it’s that flexible displays are desirable also.![]()
Agreed. I'm not a heavy phone user, so $1200 is my limit too.I've topped at what I'll pay for a phone. I can afford it, but I'm not going to pay it..
Phones, regardless of design or abilities, are just not worth much more than $1200.
Agreed. My wife bought a Pixel 8 last year for $399 out-the-door, and I continue to be impressed with it. It's fast, stable and intuitive. I don't see any real advantage with my 16 Pro over it.
For years: "Foldable phones are so stupid, blah-blah crease, blah-blah chinese, blah-blah battery..."An iPhone fold would sell for ~$2k.
Consumers look at performance first and foremost. They want to know if the CPU/GPU they buy is not only the fastest but will age well in three or four years.
Until a competitor can come close to touching the performance and efficiency of Apple Silicon all these design fads are just don’t sell well. They are doing Nokia Ngage level designs because they can’t compete against Apple Silicon.

Apple prefers profits above all else. Their innovation is incremental and focused on not rocking the boat. It's sad they don't want to push boundaries anymore.iPhone user and iOS fan since 2007.

That's my experience. When I start blathering on about specs, etc. the eyes of the majority of people I know glaze over and they start singing a song in their head.Normal consumers pay very little attention to some of this stuff actually

Whatever, dudes. The problem with your 'assessments' is that most people don't buy an OS - they buy an experience. And for years now, that experience has increasingly included integration between devices. So even if Android were a better OS (which I definitely don't agree with), if one owns an Apple laptop, watch, AirPods, etc. in addition to an iPhone, all that lovely integration of features would be lost if one moved to an Android phone. No thanks.Your assessment is spot on. I've been saying this for years now. Android is the more stable and outright better OS now. Apple makes one (still not done): "instant buy! Well worth the price! a revolution!..."
Oppo was always just as quality focused as Apple given their past premium audio line they abandoned for maximum phone production. I still have several of those state of the art devices, and years later they command unusual high values. Now other than thickness the differences that Oppo is going with are different directions of appealing to more distinct customers which is going to sell more phones against design, The timing of both launches is not a coincidence.![]()
You have your own camera bump? 🤔I would look even nicer without the camera bump.
