AppleCare, couldn’t imagine using one without a screen protector and without AppleCare. I’m not even that clumsy but it’s always that one time it drops that it seems to crack.
I haven’t gotten Apple Care in years. BUT I dropped and cracked and paid to have my iPhone 8plus screen replaced and that was close to $200. The nic on my xs max is on the black portion and it not noticeable. But let’s just say I am totally getting apple care on my next iPhone purchase.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max is holding up REALLY well so far - it's been halfway around the world twice, on a dozen or so airplanes and literally hundreds of trains, all caseless and screen-protector-less. It's still absolutely perfect. I think I did find one very tiny scratch, MAYBE, which is only visible in direct sun if you angle the phone so that the sun is almost directly reflected into your eyes. But since that is not very good for your eyes, I wasn't able to spend enough time studying it, to confirm. It maybe have just been dust.

So far, extremely impressed by this phone's durability.

My left front pocket has been dedicated to my phones for years. Absolutely nothing else goes in. Haven't had a screen protector in all those years, and never had a scratch.
Same here, left front is for my phone only, never really had any scratches. I've also only ever dropped a phone one in my life. It's amazing how long things can last when you take care of them.

That being said I've seen in multiple reviews that the iPhone 11 screen scratches very easily, check Flossy's review for example.

Im stunned that in 2019 on a tech forum that people are blaming scratches on keys. Keys literally do absolutely nothing, they are made out of soft flexible metals that do nothing to glass. Have you not even watched a single scratch test in the last decade?

You can take your car key and attack your device all day with it, it won’t do a thing.
People leaving the device in the same pocket as keys has nothing to do with it.

You’re absolutely right about keys. What is in most everyone’s pockets(and most likely the culprit) are particles of dirt/sand.. When sliding the phone in and out of your pocket, a piece of sand(even a speck) will definitely scratch the screen which has been shown on numerous scratch tests...

World's toughest glass is scratched by world's toughest material that is harder than glass.
