Fun video, great looking app

I appreciated the video. Quite fun. Good job, great production values.

Get a sense of humor.

Can't wait for Leopard support. I know, I should upgrade my hardware, but doggone it, it's still serving its purpose.

rdiddly

The video is pretty funny lol.

Such strange vibes from the speaker...

Wow... the video was cheezy. I understand they are making fun of apple's ipad video... but that was awful. It took away from what Nate has been working on.

Great looking app. Also great price, it becomes a must buy at that price. Incredible that something as powerful as this app is going to be available at launch (or there about). Can you imagine the level of apps we are going to see by the end of the summer?
I'd be somewhat concerned about security issues with the access to my computer though. I wouldn't want someone to mimic my wormhole iPad and then get easy access.

I thought the video was great. Good job by guys who aren't actors and who probably didn't have the time to do a million takes for each shot.

Hi everybody! Just want to clear a couple things up:

- The video was intentionally over the top, as kind of a spoof.
- Right now Wormhole Remote is focused on local network access only. 3G and over-the-Internet access is a feature planned for the future, and I promise that it will be easy and seamless to use with no firewall configuration necessary.

Wait, so you are saying that you cannot even use it via wifi from a different location? That COMPLETELY destroys the benefit of the product, unless I plan on doing my presentations from my couch and INSIST on not lugging my laptop to the couch with me. Over the internet access is the MOST important aspect of your product as it allows for a quasi-multitasking experience by using the iPad as a projector of material, rather than a computing device that creates the material.

Yay, its good to see Nate back contributing, I remember chatting in the good ol' days on IRC before the APP Store etc even existed ;-)

If this works really well, I could actually see myself getting an iPad. I've always thought the only way I'd get one would be if I could ditch my laptop for a desktop and use it on-the-go, and this may enable that. Not holding my breath though, still can't see the iPad providing a better experience than a laptop when sitting on the couch.

because we need it...:D

I wonder if I can use it to play games from my Mac?
It would be nice to be able to configure the keyboard keys you want to have there.

great price! and the iPhone is still in the game!

While I purchase and download this product I will want to give them extra money because of the tude of their vert. Advert.

I've never used a program like this, so I'm wondering what are the limits?

Can you use it to open up garageband or photoshop or other processor intensive apps and actually use the apps in real time with no lag?

This app is an amazing app for people like myself. I use my Mac to record music. When I'm playing guitar or bass, I can sit right in front of the computer and start and stop as necessary; however, I can't do that when I'm playing drums. This app will allow me to set a music stand next to me behind my drum set and record as many takes as I need--starting and stopping without have to get up and go over to the computer. This app alone is now my biggest reason for loving the iPad. I'll be your first customer.

Unless I missed this, one major app that it doesn't look like it can access:

Finder

Still cool, but I'll stick with Jaadu.

One thing though, the graphic/black wallpaper isn't very flattering. I think it could be better.

amazing.

as someone else pointed out, remote desktop clients nicely circumvents the lack of flash and other features of the iPad.

Now let's see a VMware or Parallels App so I can run mac os x/windows/linux on my iPad. :) <=== this will be another KILLER app for the iPad

I think it's great! I love the idea of the iPad being a window to the desktop. It enhances the usefulness of the device by quite a bit!

I wonder, if at some point it operates over 3G and outside your home network, as one of the other comments suggested, would your home computer have to have a static IP for it to work?

Their video looked like a fake Apple promotional video haha. Looks like a cool app though to bad I don't have a desktop

I'm another musician who is mainly buying an iPad to be a remote-desktop client for my studio computer as well as others around the house.

I'm not sure if this is the best choice, though.

- I need to upgrade the OS on all my Macs
- I need to run a special app on the desktop (rather than just click on the desktop sharing box)
- Does this thing even give you access to the desktop if you want it? Or just control of your already-launched apps? The video doesn't make it clear.

So far, not much to steer me away from a more traditional VNC client (some of which are free), which can ALREADY be used over 3G or even other WiFi connections if you first set up a VPN (which can also be done for free.)

app is awesome....once it develops even better it will be a killer app..

BUT

the guy with the waistcoat in the video has to go!

hes like a chav/ned version of jonny ive...and a bad one at that.....hilarious....

great parody, great-looking app

Wow! This looks cool. An app like that may just compel me to buy an iPad (not right at launch, but someday). Honestly, the "uninterrupted" workflow factor (no saving/no syncing; no buying 2nd licenses of various Mac apps) really would give an iPad + Wormhole (or something similar) many advantages (for me), over buying, say, a MacBook.

Sure, not a replacement for a MBP, if one needs a laptop for really intense on-the-go power-user type stuff. But for just casual desktop work that i suddenly would rather continue from the couch, outside, etc., this might be fantastic!! (At least for ME; seems like macrumors folks who like to bashbashbash everything fail to understand that not everyone's workflow is exactly like theirs, duh).

And everyone criticizing the video, you either:
A. have NO sense of humor.
B. take :apple:'s own advertising way too seriously/treat it way too preciously.
or C. both A. & B.

I mean, c'mon! The video wasn't flawless, but it was so deadpan, spot-on excellent and funny! So rare is it that a parody/spoof is done in a good-natured way. Usually parody/satire is strictly used to attack or criticize the entity being imitated. (And I really don't think they were trying to demean :apple: or the very device for which they will be attempting to sell their app).

4.5/5 stars for the video!
