We all will.

These new iPhones are going to be incredible. It's just some MR members are in denial at the moment, and trying to convince themselves they won't be upgrading before the event totally blows them away.

For the record I don't care if Apple upgrades a lot or a little. That's their strategy/bottom line to worry about. But I'm also not lining up drooling because I just gotta have everything they make.

It's weird to see people complain about the bezels so much.

Doesn't anyone else think it's nice to be able to hold the phone without covering the screen with your fingers? I LIKE the bezels. I'm not sure what the advantage of an edge to edge display would be on a device you have to hold in your hand.

but we all know how it will look

Is the appearance the only thing you base your purchase on? It's still possible that there could be features that haven't leaked. Think of it like a trial, you shouldn't make a final judgment until every bit of evidence has been presented.

Worst update? not sure.
The screen will be the same on size and resolution but the image quality will be better (gammut ,... maybe true tone?). I prefer a better image than a higher useless resolution.
A10 will be a nice upgrade for people than keep the iPhone more than one year (because if you change every year you never really use the power of your SoC, except some 3D games).
The camera will be better, and after the "not so good" iPhone 6s camera (compare to the iPhone 6) I think it's going to be nice.
Waterproof maybe: 9 years that people ask for this and now everyone says it's useless just because Samsung dit it before?
Stereo speaker : 9 years .that......

And also : better LTE modem, better wifi , better Bluetooth, better flash, double storage, new colors ,... in fact that's the best upgrade since long time. The design don't change but all the rest is updated.

As this event draws closer and closer I am getting more and more excited.

WORST UPDATE EVER?!?!?

Do people forget the 3G to 3GS? Ever the 2g to 3G wasn't great. The first truly great iPhone update was 3GS to iPhone 4. Then it was the 4s to the 5. As the 5 series is the best designed iPhone ever IMO. The 5 to 5s was a pretty good update with the A7 and the finger print scanner. The 5s to the 6 was a HUGE (pun intended) update for many reasons and the 6 to 6s was minor. However the 6s far outperforms the iPhone 6 in every aspect. The iPhone SE was a necessary update to a classic design... but nothing major.

That said... I think this update from 6s to 7 is going to be more then people think. We're probably going to see the home button go bye bye. A true tone screen. Dual cameras on the Plus. Much better color options. Apple is taking the first step into the next big thing by eliminating the headphone jack.

Most certainly not the worst update... definitely not the best update ever as that probably goes to the 5 series up to the 6 series, but it's definitely not the worse by far.

That said I'm actually excited. I thought I was gonna keep my SE until next years iphone, but I think I'll go ahead and upgrade again!!

The iPad Pro screen does not compare with the OLED screen on Samsung devices. The OLED version is better, Apple agrees with this and it is the reason they are wanting to use OLED on the next variant.

Stereo speakers - I stream music in my car from my iPhone, or listen to music on my desktop or computer or laptop. No Need

LTE Modem - I have had no issues connecting to 4g or call quality, and any limitation will be with the carrier services and not the iPhone.

Better Wifi - My current iPhone I believe supports dual band AC, most wifi routers haven't even begun using the ac standard yet.

Better bluetooth - no issues with bluetooth streaming, current iPhone does it with no problems.

Better Flash - The iPhone has a poor camera compared to a decent digital camera, same applies for video. The pictures will be better, but they won't be replacing a proper digital camera any time soon. Regardless an improvement is expected.

Double Storage - I have 128gb version and have 40gb free. Also the 256gb version I'm guessing, going by Apple's previous pricing strategy will be seen as an extra feature, and will cost more than the equivalent 128gb model.

Colours - Piano black is nice, but the design is still horrible. Thick antenna lines are still visible, and no other product in it's class has this. Thick bezels.

So as you can see the improvements you seem to think exist, do exist but are very very marginal improvements which are expected.

I use my phone for whatsapp, browsing, revising exam questions, work, facebook etc. I am constantly looking at my phone, upgrading the speakers is nothing it will still be rubbish compared to a speaker system.

The screen should be the focus because that is what we all see.

I regard the 2g 3g 3gs era to be significant upgrades. Because it was new, there was no standard set, they were the leaders and they lead.

A speed boost was required them days, say an app took 10 seconds to load, doubling the speed to 5 seconds is significant.

Today my iPhone takes say 0.2 seconds to load, the new iPhone being announced on Wednesday may load it in 0.1 seconds however the difference is minuscule and is not as significant.

Today they are behind in terms of screen technology and bezel thickness.

For you :)

  1. I am not focus on the design, On a case my iPhone 6s is not so different than S7 or other android phones.
  2. I play a lot on my iPhone so the A10 is a nice addition for me.
  3. The sound is an nice upgrade ,
  4. the color (black here) is something I am waiting because I loved the iPhone 5 color.
  5. Better Bluetooth will help my Apple watch to be faster when it need informations from the phone
  6. Better camera is a nice addition because I don't need and don't want to pay 300 more bucks for a digital camera that I cannot have in my pocket.
  7. Storage is a nice thing because 32gb is enough and I can pay 100€ less than last year :)
  8. OLED with the actuel iOS is useless, we need a redesign with more dark color and black. White color on OLED is not optimal yet (but I admit Samsung made a lot a progress every year and I love SAMOLED screen)

Maybe the iPhone 7 will no going to be what you are waiting, but for me it's a great technology upgrade and I prefer that than a new design with minor technology upgrade (like iPhone 6).

This is the first iPhone 2 year refresh to feature the same screen as the previous model. This has not happened before.

The screen on the iPhone now is completely outdated. In public when my friends pull out their latest Samsung phones, its a night and day difference. The Samsung screen pops and is so bright at its brightest and so dark at its darkest - amazing contrast ratio. It has full deep blacks.

It is also understood that the 2017 or 2018 iPhone will have the redesign that I am looking for. This means at least for 3 years people would have had the same screen in which time Samsung's screen will get considerably better.

This is poor, the new iPhone normally is an automatic purchase for me but I must make a point by not purchasing. iPhone 6s sales were low compared to previous sales according to reports and this iteration will be even worse.

The other design fault are the bezels. Previously they were not an issue for me however all the competitor devices have small bezels above and below and Apple are now behind with thick bezels. Take my iPhone 6 plus 128gb, the recent Galaxy Note 4 has a larger screen size 5.7" whilst the overall phone is smaller than my phone.

The other so called "upgrades" are not enough to warrant a very expensive new iPhone 128gb plus version purchase. Better camera, no headphone, water resistance, slightly faster operationg (my current phone's performance is satisfactory with apps like facebook and chrome youtube etc).

Had I not been somewhat dependent on the iOS-MacOS ecosystem, or hypothetically speaking iOS were available on a Samsung device, I would have purchased the Samsung device no questions.

Without doubt, this iteration is the laziest and poorest iPhone release from Apple.

I disagree. I love the iPhone display and I have had phones with higher resolution displays and when i look at a retina display its like I am looking at a printed page. iPhone screens are the best in direct sunlight too imo. I have never looked at the screen and thought 'damn this is really crap compared to other phones'.

Hmm, weird that I have seen NO announcement from Apple about OLED at all. Please grow up and stop believing all the crap you read on the internet. It isn't all true you know.

For direct sunlight OLED are better actually (on auto brightness) because they can up to 1050 nits (for note7, 550 for iPhone 6). It highly saturated colors but you can read it everywhere . That's not the case with the iPhone screen. If apple increase max brightness it will be better. Reflectance is also important.

You actually don't know what OLED technology apple is using on it's next iphone and if it even is. You clearly don't speak for apple with their future products, and rumors may be wrong. iphone 7 with truetone imo, is better than oled without the drawbacks; if that rumor is in fact announced at the reveal.

Well maybe if this was 2011 you would have a point.

But if you haven't noticed most predictions by analysts have been very reliable and you will see on Wednesday it will be. Apple allow this purposely, before they didn't. After the whole iPhone 4 scenario, they realized how powerful that kind of publicity is for their products and now don't bother at all.

Products like iPhones dont get produced overnight. Development starts a long time in advance and within that time leaks will undoubtedly come out, and have done in the past and have been proven to be correct.

So as I said maybe in 2010 you would have had a point but today your point is not valid.

If you think the current 6s screen looks better than latest Samsung screens, then you must be joking. I can't take that seriously.

Go actually see something like a Galaxy S7 in real life and compare it to your iPhone. It is shocking how far behind we are right now.

There is this rumor that the iPhone 7 will support 4K at 60fps.
That would be totally awesome and I really don't see it happen.

The screen will be 1242 × 2208 downsampled to 1080p the same as 6/6s plus. And I believe the iPhone already supports 60fps.

So there is not possibility that the screen on the phone will be 4k, and also it would be pointless and a waste of battery power as no noticeable difference would be seen as the pixel density is already above 400.

However the possibility to output 4k 60fps is a possibility, especially with the new processor.

Well you might think the iPhone screen is not outdated but compare it to the latest Samsung screens. Apple also think the screen is outdated and this is why they are planning an OLED screen iPhone release in the future.

The couple of technologies you mention are nothing as I've seen the iPad Pro, it won't give it super contrast ratios, wont give the brightness, won't make images pop and have the deepest blacks which are completely dark.

Nobody's holding a gun to your head to buy a new iPhone. If you feel the need to whip it out when you're among friends so you can compare sizes and screens, then go buy the Sammy.

You've had iPhone's for a reason. If you think there's no longer a benefit, then please go buy the new S7 or Note. They're beautiful phones for sure.

Me? I'm still more than happy with my iPhone 6 and will hold off upgrading until next year.

Okay, so don't buy it then.

I agree. The upgraded display alone will be worthy of an upgrade from the 6s.
True tone? I have the 9.7" iPad Pro and I don't see it as a 'game changer' at all. If that's all the 7 has going for it, then that's not a good thing.

Agree on wanting bezels. I have had to use a Galaxy S6 for work and the smaller bezel meant I was hitting that soft back button on screen every time. No thanks.

I still owe almost $600 on my 6s Plus Next. I would need about $300 to upgrade early. Unless Wednesday's announcement is amazing, I will have to wait until I pay more of this phone off.

I'm not looking for approval. My work associate has an s7, not impressed.

Different strokes for different folks. Right?

Absolutely. I have no issue with what others buy. Android just doesn't work for me. That said, Apple can annoy the heck out of me sometimes as well (CarPlay starting automatically when it's not even activated, is one example).
