Ok so I accidentally pre-ordered the iPhone 7 jet black 256gb.

I am still disappointed but I ordered because they gave me a good deal.

I heard the phone I ordered has 2gb ram, that is a shocker truly.

Its still disappointing that screen wise I will be behind my friend's who have Samsungs for at least 1 or 2 years.
So much fail and so many levels. Surprised you managed to get the sentences written and the post up.

This is the first iPhone 2 year refresh to feature the same screen as the previous model. This has not happened before.

The screen on the iPhone now is completely outdated. In public when my friends pull out their latest Samsung phones, its a night and day difference. The Samsung screen pops and is so bright at its brightest and so dark at its darkest - amazing contrast ratio. It has full deep blacks.

It is also understood that the 2017 or 2018 iPhone will have the redesign that I am looking for. This means at least for 3 years people would have had the same screen in which time Samsung's screen will get considerably better.

This is poor, the new iPhone normally is an automatic purchase for me but I must make a point by not purchasing. iPhone 6s sales were low compared to previous sales according to reports and this iteration will be even worse.

The other design fault are the bezels. Previously they were not an issue for me however all the competitor devices have small bezels above and below and Apple are now behind with thick bezels. Take my iPhone 6 plus 128gb, the recent Galaxy Note 4 has a larger screen size 5.7" whilst the overall phone is smaller than my phone.

The other so called "upgrades" are not enough to warrant a very expensive new iPhone 128gb plus version purchase. Better camera, no headphone, water resistance, slightly faster operationg (my current phone's performance is satisfactory with apps like facebook and chrome youtube etc).

Had I not been somewhat dependent on the iOS-MacOS ecosystem, or hypothetically speaking iOS were available on a Samsung device, I would have purchased the Samsung device no questions.

Without doubt, this iteration is the laziest and poorest iPhone release from Apple.
Honestly I switched from my Samsung Galaxy to the iPhone 6 Plus because I could not even read my galaxy phone outside in sunlight. My iPhone I could at least read what was on the screen in sunlight because it was brighter.

If you're so worried about catching up with your friends' screens why not just get a Samsung? I don't get it.

Also, how do you "accidentally" pre order?

You can't get iOS on Samsung otherwise I would have got Note 7 (non battery exploding version).

Basically if you read my first post here, my comments were justified. The screen quality is now behind the competition's last years models, forget this years. And the bezels are huge compared to industry standards.

Screen is very important its what we interact with and see all day. It should be oled this year and not next year or the year after.

Even this morning I said I wasn't getting it.

But then something happened and I suddenly wanted to order it. I called them up, placed the order for the jet black 256gb and now have a delivery date and yeah.

I was adamant not to order because the because the increases are not great, especially the 6s users its the same phone.

We all will.

These new iPhones are going to be incredible. It's just some MR members are in denial at the moment, and trying to convince themselves they won't be upgrading before the event totally blows them away.

I won't. First update I've EVER skipped. I bet many will do the same and skip this weak sauce update. Jony Ive definitely took the semester off (lazy bastard driving around in his fancy cars counting his dollars and pounds!). Nothing new - only improved features.

I'll wait until 2018.

I agree with everything the OP said. The screen is the most important part of the phone, as it's what we interact with the most. This area in particular should be a priority. Also, the bezels are unsightly and antiquated. This is why I can never seriously consider getting a Plus model of the iPhone. It's just too unwieldy. That said I am a sucker for Apple and iOS and their ecosystem. Next year we absolutely better get a design that competes with the Galaxy Note S7. We want a higher resolution display, no more bezels, and better battery life.

I'm so confused on why you would order. :s

Told ya

my galaxy s7 sucks in sunlight, because even my iphone 5 was brighter.
not sure why, because tests say otherwise.

and now the iphone 7 display is 25% brighter than before...

but i do like the way the colors "pop". and the blackness of the black.

but i can live without the higher resolution. when i switch from my S7 to the ipad or retina macbook i never think "oh this resolution looks so bad!"

i will definitely compare them, when my iphone 7 arrives.

I am coming over from the Note 4. While Samsung does boast the latest and best technology, their user experience is lacking.... The bloat ware as well as extremely slow updates are infuriating at times. That made me at least give the iPhone a try. I ordered a 128 GB black iPhone +.

Yup worst updates ever:rolleyes: , yet enthusiasts are struggling to secure their orders. No one is dragging anyone by the collar to part with their hard earned cash, if it ain't your cup of tea don't buy ......period!!!!

My issue is the bezel size more than the screen. The phone could be a lot smaller. It's the difference in not being able to hold the phone with hand and being able to.

Well the size of the normal iphone is ok, but its stupid because they could fit a 5 to 5.1 inch screen size instead of 4.7 inch.

And the plus model is a disgrace in 2016, because other phones are smaller yet pack a bigger screen.

Design fault.

I've gone down from plus to normal iPhone 7. If the bezels were sorted I would have purchased the larger one.

Well I know a lot of people who normally upgrade every new model release but this time are not.

iPhone sales went down in 2016 compared to year before and this was first time ever this happened and its probably gonna happen again. Apple would be concerned because the oled model will break all records to date. But it shows they are taking advantage of the situation, so you can't blame them because we keep buying it.

I purchased 7 because its latest phone and has 256gb memory but at the same time I know I'm getting pretty much the same phone I already have.

I'm pretty sure 3 previous models had the same screen (iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS)

Those phones were not part of the 2 year refresh cycle.

And iPhone then was on its own, it did not compete with anyone because there were no competitors. It was ahead.

Now in terms of hardware it is behind. If it wasn't for iOS iPhone would have been finished.

The Quad Core A10 Fusion is the fastest and most energy efficient chip to ever power a mobile phone...just sayin'.

Thats a good point

I won't disagree with you that the current tech is a bit on the "lower quality side" for such an expensive and premium phone. My daily phone is a Galaxy S7 and the screen tech is quite incredible.

You could've got the 5se and be happy with the older series screen with 6 power...just saying

Not the worst...just rushed i think.
