It's weird to see people complain about the bezels so much.

Doesn't anyone else think it's nice to be able to hold the phone without covering the screen with your fingers? I LIKE the bezels. I'm not sure what the advantage of an edge to edge display would be on a device you have to hold in your hand.
I prefer a smaller form factor to be comfortable in my pocket. Even if the device had small bezels, you could put a huge case on it with big handles so you can comfortably hold it. You could even build a big wooden frame to go around it or get a wrist strap if that helps you.

Sure there's a small percentage of people who will have difficulty holding on to it with small bezels, but you can easily add bezels to the phone. For the large majority of us who manage to hold on to it just fine without man-handling the front of the phone, we can't easily remove bezels from the the phone.

Small bezels= everybody wins.

I cannot picture holding a phone by the bezel? I hold my phone with my index to ring fingers behind it, my pinky underneath and my thumb in front to text. How does one hold it by the bezel?

That's my issue is Apple is years behind Samsung and doesn't seem to care. The OLDER screen is much better than the iPhone, the edge to edge screen is better, water proof, expandable memory and on and on

Edge to Edge is a gimmick. I hated it on my Note and S7 Edge. I have issues when holding it and I am typing it gets in the way. I prefer the iPhone screen. More realistic colors.

A better screen on android, some may feel, is like a big beautiful window facing a brick wall. Others are perfectly happy with it.
Outside iPhone I prefer Xperia, which rarely has the best screen but I still prefer it. My pals have amoled stutter. All good.

The iPad Pro screen does not compare with the OLED screen on Samsung devices. The OLED version is better, Apple agrees with this and it is the reason they are wanting to use OLED on the next variant.

Stereo speakers - I stream music in my car from my iPhone, or listen to music on my desktop or computer or laptop. No Need

LTE Modem - I have had no issues connecting to 4g or call quality, and any limitation will be with the carrier services and not the iPhone.

Better Wifi - My current iPhone I believe supports dual band AC, most wifi routers haven't even begun using the ac standard yet.

Better bluetooth - no issues with bluetooth streaming, current iPhone does it with no problems.

Better Flash - The iPhone has a poor camera compared to a decent digital camera, same applies for video. The pictures will be better, but they won't be replacing a proper digital camera any time soon. Regardless an improvement is expected.

Double Storage - I have 128gb version and have 40gb free. Also the 256gb version I'm guessing, going by Apple's previous pricing strategy will be seen as an extra feature, and will cost more than the equivalent 128gb model.

Colours - Piano black is nice, but the design is still horrible. Thick antenna lines are still visible, and no other product in it's class has this. Thick bezels.

So as you can see the improvements you seem to think exist, do exist but are very very marginal improvements which are expected.

I use my phone for whatsapp, browsing, revising exam questions, work, facebook etc. I am constantly looking at my phone, upgrading the speakers is nothing it will still be rubbish compared to a speaker system.

The screen should be the focus because that is what we all see.

I regard the 2g 3g 3gs era to be significant upgrades. Because it was new, there was no standard set, they were the leaders and they lead.

A speed boost was required them days, say an app took 10 seconds to load, doubling the speed to 5 seconds is significant.

Today my iPhone takes say 0.2 seconds to load, the new iPhone being announced on Wednesday may load it in 0.1 seconds however the difference is minuscule and is not as significant.

Today they are behind in terms of screen technology and bezel thickness.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you? But in the context of things the 2g,3G and 3GS weren't necessarily huge upgrades.

Granted back then there were no standards set yet, but if you compare feature for feature what we get now ... those updates weren't really that big...

You thought or think they were big because at the time no standards had been set...

This is the first iPhone 2 year refresh to feature the same screen as the previous model. This has not happened before.

The screen on the iPhone now is completely outdated. In public when my friends pull out their latest Samsung phones, its a night and day difference. The Samsung screen pops and is so bright at its brightest and so dark at its darkest - amazing contrast ratio. It has full deep blacks.

It is also understood that the 2017 or 2018 iPhone will have the redesign that I am looking for. This means at least for 3 years people would have had the same screen in which time Samsung's screen will get considerably better.

This is poor, the new iPhone normally is an automatic purchase for me but I must make a point by not purchasing. iPhone 6s sales were low compared to previous sales according to reports and this iteration will be even worse.

The other design fault are the bezels. Previously they were not an issue for me however all the competitor devices have small bezels above and below and Apple are now behind with thick bezels. Take my iPhone 6 plus 128gb, the recent Galaxy Note 4 has a larger screen size 5.7" whilst the overall phone is smaller than my phone.

The other so called "upgrades" are not enough to warrant a very expensive new iPhone 128gb plus version purchase. Better camera, no headphone, water resistance, slightly faster operationg (my current phone's performance is satisfactory with apps like facebook and chrome youtube etc).

Had I not been somewhat dependent on the iOS-MacOS ecosystem, or hypothetically speaking iOS were available on a Samsung device, I would have purchased the Samsung device no questions.

Without doubt, this iteration is the laziest and poorest iPhone release from Apple.
[doublepost=1473111356][/doublepost]This is true! The Sammy displays are brighter and it looks like the colors are "stronger". But it`s not natural. I can transfer the same to hifi. Some likes the sound of heavy bass and lots of treble, and some likes the audio like it was made original. This is very subjective but I can see what the author of this tread mean. The sammy displays are very flashy and seems "better", but they have increased colors and contrast.

Actually a test was just posted about this and iphone 6s won.
Love my iPhone 6+, and my wife loves her 6s. I switch sims back and forth between my 6+ and S7 Edge. I live in San Diego and it's sunny out. I have my s7 edge today and just walked outside with my wife's 6s. Put a youtube video on on both devices. Looked better on my s7 edge... but the 6s didn't suck under the sun.

I like both screens for different reasons. I do like the color more on the 6+ and my wife's 6s indoors... especially if I'm looking at both screens side by side. I'm still wow'd by the S7 Edge AMOLED at times when watching quality videos.

As for resolution, both look great to me... but found it interesting that my 6+ looked better in my Gear VR watching 360 videos over my s7 edge. I enjoy both devices... both have certain qualities that stand out over the other... but nothing to complain about.

All I was saying an independent website found the 6s to have the best screen in sunlight. Ymmv.

I dont think the screen of the iPhone is outdated, actually it's one of the best LCD screens out there. You are comparing two different screen technologies and they both have pros and cons. if rumors are true, the iPhone 7 wont have the same screen as the iPhone 6 series. It will be enhanced with a couple of technologies found on the iPad PRO.

This. Aren't these screens CONSISTANTLY rated in top 3 screens on the market at they time they are released?

I love the Samsung hardware. Anyone who doesn't believe that the display and screen to bezel ratio are legitimate advantages over the current iPhone design are in denial. OLED > LCD any day of the week.

That said, software trumps hardware which is why I remain firmly entrenched in the iPhone camp (although windows 10 mobile is my fav but we know how well Microsoft is supporting that front /s)

I'd argue that the iPhone 4 through 5s (and now SE) had pretty much the same screen. Exactly the same ppi, just slightly elongated and outside of any standard we had seen before.

The iPhone also had the same screen as the 3G and 3GS. And in fact there was much less difference between the original iPhone and the 3G than any other phones after; literally everything was the same exept
For the addition of a 3G radio (I'm discounting the case because really, that isn't what makes a feature in a phone).

This isn't really in defense of Apple though. Buy what is worth your money. I'm very likely to skip this device. Air pods have me intrigued, believe it or not.

I've got drawn into the Samsung hype so many times. I've owned S1,2,3,4,5 and each time I've come back to iPhone, I finally saw sense after the S5 and won't be going back.

Yes the screen on these devices is out standing but the biggie for me is the trade off in performance. Touchwiz just slows everything down. The Note 7 couldn't beat the 6S and SE in speedtests, Samsung just throw more RAM at devices and hope if fixes the sluggishness, it doesn't. Then we have battery life, Hammer a Samsung and you'll be lucky to get through the day, My SE on the other hand I leave everything on and at the end of the day I have at least 40% battery left.

Isn’t Samsung one of the Apple suppliers for their screens? Apple does not produce their own screens, so the Samsung argument being a better screen is a moot point.

To my knowledge, no. Samsung only provided RAM and manufactured the A9 chip.

Even so, your logic is flawed. Just because Samsung manufactured an Apple product, doesn't mean Samsung's products are the same. Samsung designs its products and then manufactures them or has someone else do it to Samsung's specs.

Apple is the same: it sends such specs to a manufacturer to produce.

A very crude comparison would be a screen-printing company. They design and sell shirts, or you can design your own, and they will use their facilities and machinery to print yours for you.

Sounds like the next iPhone could cure cancer, but because it doesn't have an OLED screen to make your WhatsApp and Facebook experience better, you'd still call it the laziest and poorest iPhone release from Apple.

Seriously, if you're primarily only using those apps (and whatever you use to revise your exam questions), and you don't care about the speakers, modem, WiFi, bluetooth, camera/flash, storage, or the design, why don't you get an OLED Android phone that makes your happy?

God, you make it sound like your eyes bleed after looking at the iPhone screen for 10 seconds.

Different strokes for different folks. Right?
I think the phrase for his side of the pond is "horses for courses". :)

expandable memory and on and on

I love how the bezels and expandable memory are contributing factors to people's ideas that apple are 'years behind'.

I'm pretty sure it's not because they haven't figured out how to make the bezels smaller or add expandable storage. These are very deliberate decisions. They know what they're doing.

It's simply not true that apple are 'behind', they just decide against some of the things that you might think matter, but really don't.

Ok so I accidentally pre-ordered the iPhone 7 jet black 256gb.

I am still disappointed but I ordered because they gave me a good deal.

I heard the phone I ordered has 2gb ram, that is a shocker truly.

Its still disappointing that screen wise I will be behind my friend's who have Samsungs for at least 1 or 2 years.

If you're so worried about catching up with your friends' screens why not just get a Samsung? I don't get it.

Also, how do you "accidentally" pre order?

I preordered black 128 gb. It was no accident. The battery life of my iPhone 6 is just plain LOUSY. The fact that Apple sells an Apple branded ugly as ---- battery case tells you Apple knows they screwed the pooch. That's the main thing I'm getting in the 7: longer battery life. Also I finally get optical image stabilization. And faster processor. And more storage (I had 64 GB). And who knows, maybe I won't have to buy a new leather case this time!

Like he accidentally entered his credit card, click submit, pick his iPhone size and color out. It wasn't an accident more like a regret.
