My GS4 had 2GB of RAM and couldn't even keep two apps in it without reloading one of them. My 6S can keep a game, multiple tabs open in chrome, youtube, app store, and google maps in the RAM at the same time before reloading the youtube app when I reopened it.
The GS4 that I had for a short period of time was a real slug compared to my new 6S Plus. I sold the GS4 to a friend who is still using and complaining about it almost everyday. Yet she doesn't want to go back to the iPhone.

They always say the next generation of iPhones are going to come out early. Yet they still come out in mid to late September, lol.
Yes I've been around to witness that.
Sometimes I think if it wasn't rumored Apple might do a slightly early release. But once they've read the rumors they purposely wait just to remind us that Apple does what Apple wants and the customers just have to deal with it.

Well, as they say; "Good things are worth waiting for". :)

Yes indeed.

After lots of new iPhones I'm still enjoying them. Two others I waited for (I carry 2 phones) were my Nexus 5, then my Nexus 6 which is my primary Smartphone. Mainly because the 6" display is ideal for all the work I do on the web while traveling. Also with more ram than my iP6+ the extra speed and faster smoother multitasking is a big plus.

Hoping the iPhone 6S would be closer in speed to my Android, but not having anything that I really wanted I waited till my wife's iP6S+ arrived. Did a multi day back to back test. The extra speed is noticeable but it doesn't approach the N6 so I'm waiting and will buy an iP7+ upon release. It's fun using both platforms. Great variety and keeps me informed via first hand usage.

Take a look at this. The 6S smokes the Nexus 6.

The 6S/6S Plus are very future proof due to major hardware updates. It's the 6 that I'm not sure will stand the test of time too well.
Yup, I usually skip S generation, but my 6+ was such a dog compared to my previous 5. The 6 is basically the iPhone version of the iPad 3. Too much screen for too anemic gpu. I would be surprised if the 7+ is as big of a jump as going from 6 to 6s. We went from a 20nm to a much better finfet 16nm process with this generation. TSMC/Samsung is not going to beat Intel to 10nm next year so I don't think the A10 is going to be a huge jump as going from A8 to A9 unless Apple goes to tri/quad core... (Most Ax generations included a new process node. The A4-A5 transition used the same process but added a core)

Notice the relatively tiny gap between the 5S and the 6. Now look at the gap between the 6 and the 6S. I highly doubt Apple is going to get that big of a performance increase in the 7 without going tri/quad core (which I highly doubt given Apple's obsession with trying to maintain 'thinness', small SOC size, and smaller batteries with smaller power requirements). Apple will be using the same 14nm or 16nm process with the A10 so I don't expect any miracles with the 7 next year when it comes to performance. It will be a new form factor, but the speed difference isn't going to be big and I highly doubt them going to 3gb of ram anytime soon considering how Apple held on to 1gb of ram for way too long.

I'm hoping there's only one iPhone 7, screen of 5.2 inches. No bezel.

Sorry to disappoint you but wasn't there a leak recently about Apple ordering home buttons for the iPhone 7?

That home button would need some bezel to sit on, and Apple like to symmetrically balance their phones aesthetically, that would mean bezels on the top & bottom of the screen? The one thing they may do is slim down the bezels slightly.

I guess you could always wait for iPhone 8! I hear that will have no bezels! In fact it will have no screen at all and project information! ;)

I remember hearing all the iPad Air owners shouting how they were skipping the iPad Air 2. They would boast how the iPad Air 3 would have this and that....

No one knows what Apple has planned. To hold off on a product for many months in anticipation for a better model is rather silly. Take the iPhone 6s/plus for what it is, enjoy it! Don't wait for what might be in the future. There will always be new technology around the corner that will make your current phone outdated!

:D

I heard it's always worth skipping a generation because they only add major updates every second model.

You heard wrong. There are major upgrades every year, but the form factor design of the phone changes everything two years.
