Nope, unless it does the washing up as well.

8gb is plenty for me :D It would take a lot more than just a bit of extra space for me to give up my vintage iPhone :D:D:D

There is no way i'm forking out the thick end of another 300 quid just for more space, I don't care how much extra they add.

I currently have nearly 7 gig free on my iphone.

I've already got a 16GB iPod touch. I'd consider an iPhone if it was legally available in Australia or Hong Kong, but it'd have to be at least 16GB... although I might wait for something bigger, now that I have the touch.

I wouldn't swap my 8GB for just the same device with 16GB, no.

8GB is a large amount of storage for someone with an ounce of organisational skills. Most people don't need all their media with them all the time.

Defenitely. Me and my bro and my dad have been waiting for this all year long. I'll send a friend of mine to the states with enough money for 3 of them. And I think it is actually not such a weird idea, that Apple might introduce such a 16GB version. If not, he will have to announce the iPhone 2, or iPhone Pro or iPhone Xtreme, iPhone Evo....

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/3B48b Safari/419.3)

not if that was the only change. 16gb would still mean i'd have to manage my content so wouldn't be much of an incentive.

not me. I have a 60 gig ipod classic which I can fit 2/3's of my music collection on. The thing I like about the 8 gigs on the iphone is that it kind of forces me to switch my music around when I get bored.

As for 3g, first off, where did this rumor come from that there would be a 3g iphone? Secondly, what good is 3g given the lack of coverage? Have you taken a look at the 3g coverage map? Aside from major metropolitan areas, it is somewhat limited.

I keep pointing this out on here. I agree.

There's a possibility that the iPhone will never go 3G, instead choosing to go with WiMax. "There's something in the air" :)

I don't think there's any chance of me upgrading for 15 months or so regardless of any new hardware iteration, though it would take a lot more than 16 gig alone even then (I'd certainly want a much better camera for instance).

I'm teetering between waiting for the 3G model (May-ish, which is when my current contract is due anyway) and losing patience and just buying one. An upgrade to 16GB would be enough to get me to just buy one, and sell my Touch.

I dont even use all 8 GB now, so no I wouldnt. When there is 3G in the phone ill upgrade. Hopefully that comes with GPS also, and a louder speaker.

We've got plenty of 3G in the UK. Loads more than EDGE anyway

As for the rumour - 3G is inevitable at some point

Look on the O2 coverage maps for 3G, it ain't great. From what I've seen of EDGE on my iPhone it's a close run thing.

Obviously if you live somewhere like, hmmm London, 3G looks great :)

Despite what I say of WiMax I think you're right. We might be 6+ months off though. We'll see how daft that statement looks in just over 24 hours :)

Not here in the states. Unless you live in, or on the outskirts of a major metropolitan area, theres no 3G. This means if I live in Center City Philadelphia, there is 3G coverage, but if I go to the heavily populated and sprawling suburbs of Philadelphia, there is no 3G.

To be honest though, I dont know what everyones beef with Edge is. I've had the chacne to test it out in areas ranging from rural, country areas, to Manhattan. For the most part, I find the connection speeds to be very accetpable. The worst connection Ive had by far is in midtown manhattan.

It shouldn't be any thicker if they do it, I believe that it uses similar chip sizes to the touch, except the 8 GB model has 4GB x2, while the 16 GB has 8GB x2, so just a matter of the memory size of the chip.

I don't think this is precisely correct. The 8GB iPhone has ONE 8GB memory chip. The 16GB Touch has TWO 8GB memory chips. The space where the second memory chip is in the Touch is filled with the radio stuff in the iPhone. So the *only* way the iPhone could be bumped to 16GB is with a single 16GB chip. There's no room for two memory chips.

.

I was making that point for O2 in the UK too.

A 3G phone would be ok though even without full 3G coverage. It'll back down to EDGE if available. However EDGE coverage here in the UK on O2 isn't that great either....

16 GB Brick or Paperweight!

Only if Apple releases Unlocked version any one would even dream of buying it otherwise those who want AT&T Connection in US.

For me I have a 8GB iBrick with me and I dont want another 16 GB monster @ $800 or so.

I would be happy to see an 8GB model available (in Japan).

Hopefully, we will see an improved iPhone introduced here with 16GB of memory sometime this year. :)

16gb and 3G

I'm planning on buying my first iPhone after MWSF (I was waiting for my VZW plan to expire). I hope they release it with 16GB. With the SDK coming out, I think having more memory will be nice for all the additional applications and data. If it stays at 8gb, I'll be buying one anyway. 3G doesn't interest me much because there is very limited coverage in the US. I won't be seeing it for at least a year.

See if you even have 3G in your area before holding out for a 3G iPhone.

Edit: This map is for the US only.

No.

I have 681 high quality songs, 1.5 hours of high quality video, hacked apps, tons of mail, 208 photos on it with some room to spare. No need for more space.

I'll upgrade for 3g only.
