I'd love to be able to replace my iPod; so, I'll probably be waiting for 32 gig. Creative has announced a 32 gig flash player for later this year, so maybe we'll see something similar from Apple. Then again, if by July or August there's no 32 GB iPhone, I may end up buying what ever is available then.

I already have an 8GB iPhone, so I probably wouldn't replace it just yet. But I think it would sell well. For a 24GB or 32GB iPhone, I probably would strongly consider it (even if its not 3G).

Like others, if it's just memory, no. I already have two iPhones and I can keep different content on each so I would see no reason to get a 16GB otherwise.

very tempted

The thought of 16GB is awfully tempting. I have an 8 and it had been near dull for ages. And what those of you with only half-full devices haven't seen yet is that the device does >>NOT<< seem to like it when it is getting close to full. I can only imagine that web page caching and somebody the more complex pages cause instability as the memory chip for data, system and program storage is also acting as RAM!! So 8 GB on an iPhone is less than 8GB on an iPod.

I think he was wondering why not just wait until after MWSF to buy if you were waiting anyway.

I'm not gonna lie, the anticipation would have done me in if I had an iPhone sitting, waiting for me to open it. :)

Well, I bought the iphone not knowing anything about it to be honest. I was there to exchange the 4gb Nano Ipod (a gift for the Holidays) for the 8gb Nano. I was pursuaded to get the iphone instead by one of the salesmen. Then I went home, did my research, and found out about Macworld, and became educated. I decided not to return it in the event that nothing is updated, but to keep it unopened so I'm not charged a restocking fee should they announce anything on January 15th. I was tempted to open the package and eat the $40, but I know I'd kick myself if they announced a new phone just a week after I bought one, so I put it in another room out of my sight. Can't wait until tomorrow though! :D

If they announce a new updated phone, do you think it will it be available in stores tomorrow, or will it take a while to hit stores?

Anyone think there could be ANY other improvements OTHER than just a capacity bump tomorrow? I know 3G is unlikely (it's not important to me anyway).

The one upgrade I want more than anything is a higher megapixel camera. Even though 2megapixel's ok for a phone, I'd like just a wee bit better camera for the iPhone, so I can truly not bother getting a digital camera and just have ONE device for everything.

That's my dream...

3g, 16gb, SDK = old iPhone to the wife and a new one for me. :)

Anything less than that, my wife can hold on to the L6 alittle longer.

From a marketing stand point, do you think Apple would put 16 GB in an iPhone.

Given their past marketing of say the 5G iPod.

60 Gig iPod Video when it was the biggest was $350 USD

Than the 80 Gig comes out and it is $350 and the 60 Gig drops to $250

Now the 160 Gig iPod Video is out and the 80 Gig sells for $250.

IF Apple were to bring out a 16 GB iPhone what would the price be?

Probably $399 and the remaining 8 GB phones would be dropped to say $250 to $300.

So now we have Apple selling a 16 GB iPhone for $399.

What's wrong with that?

Well a 16 GB iPod Touch sells for $399.

Now what would you buy......

16 GB iPod Touch for $399

-OR-

16 GB iPhone for $399 ( which can be for all intents be 'turned on' to be a iPod Video WITH a 2 Megapixel Camera )

I guess what we would see is an increase in the memory for the iPod Touch ( first ) , than the iPhone or an increase for both at the same time.

I bought my iPhone to be used as an iPod Touch with a Camera.

Got it 'modded' to that point by doing little more than running some software.

When my son returns home from his trip I will have what I need to 'activate' the phone with my service provider.

I would love to see an 80 Gig iPhone - than I can watch lots of porn while waiting for calls!:D:D:D

I wouldnt. Im extremely happy with my 1.1.1 jailbroken 8GB phone. I dont need any more space, and I would only get either of the 3g phones once the price dropped to something like $400...

For all of you who are saving your iphone in the packaging, etc in case they announce a new one...it may be announced today, but not appear in stores for months. Will you just be iphone-less until then, and change your data plan back and forth with your carrier?
Just curious.

Yep. I am not a memory hog but when I went out of town recently and loaded my iPhone for a trip, I noticed that I could have either my music videos OR my movies and TV shows. So I'd have to say yeppers, I'd buy the 16GB in a heartbeat.

In the words of the great Whitney Houston, "Hell to the no!" :D

Especially with these new updates, I feel like it's a new iPhone and am feling the euphoria of newness and anticipation all over again. There is no gadget like this, and I'd go into withdrawl without it. I will sell mine (or give it away) WHEN the new ones come out, Not before.
