You’re independently wealthy (at least you imply that with every thread you post in PRSI); so I wouldn’t stress. If it breaks, I’m sure you can afford to just replace it.

Make sure you have good backups of all your files and put all that cash to good use!
[doublepost=1554140554][/doublepost]Can I just say that I’m absolutely in love with my 2018 15”; I know that’s no secret, but it’s been a few months, still zero issues. I dabble in video as a hobby and bought the machine for that. I just finished cutting my first video over the weekend, this machine and FCPX is a joy to use for that!

No regrets, hopefully it stays that way.

It’s not about wealth. If someone just bought another MacBook Pro if their keyboard gave trouble bc they’ve got extra cash what fun would that be? I like getting the best deal on electronics and shop around a lot to do so. Not bc that extra 100 bucks would make much of a difference. But It’s just fun playing the game lol.

A lot of wealthy people are pretty frugal (read cheap). They get to the former by being the latter.

Yeah I’m not sure exactly who it was but I believe a billionaire said not too long age he likes cheap things.

I think there’s something more satisfying about getting a good deal rather than being able to buy at full price bc you’ve got that extra cash to splurge.

Like some people might feel more happy going to the store and picking up a brand new 15 inch with 1TB SSD MacBook Pro with the greatest specs and not even looking at price.

Others might feel more joy shopping around and getting a steal on eBay.

I would probably feel most happy doing something in between bc I’ve heard nightmare stories of eBay buyers and myself have had some less than ideal experiences.

I would look for a deal on the refurb site or maybe even a seller like Best Buy to snag a deal on a computer that I know is going to be legit.

Everybody’s different.

Bill Gates

Warren Buffett

The 87-year-old billionaire still lives in the five-bedroom home in Omaha, Nebraska, that he bought in 1958 for $31,500. And he never spends more than $3.17 on breakfast.

“When I’m not feeling quite so prosperous, I might go with the $2.61, which is two sausage patties, and then I put them together and pour myself a Coke,” he tells the documentary director Peter Kunhardt in the McDonald’s drive-through. ”$3.17 is a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, but the market’s down this morning, so I’ll pass up the $3.17 and go with the $2.95.”

Zuckerberg and Bill Gates eat at McDonalds too.

Truth be told, it was a joke, because I and everyone else who’s read your posts, know you’re not wealthy.

It’s a gag for PRSI, nothing more.

Haha ok then that's fine. I didn't quite catch it but now I do :)

I get free coffee at work. If I didn't, I wouldn't drink coffee. I had $17K in trading profits today. But I can't buy a new MacBook Pro because I didn't trade AAPL.

I end up spending over 5 daily on my caffeine fix but been cutting back recently on the habit.

That's a lot for Coffee. Dunkin and Starbucks are a bit over $2 in my area. McDonalds is $1. I know several places (banks and grocery stores) with free coffee or hot chocolate.

I usually get a drink. Trenta size lol.

I got the standard 2018 15 with 16 GB of ram, 2.6 Ghz 17, Radeon 560x, 512 GB SSD.

I have this same model and haven’t had any issues. I do have a keyboard cover thou just to ensure no crumbs go into underneath

I sought out and bought a used 2015 MacBook Pro. 2.8Ghz/16GB/1TB, M370X graphics, MagSafe. Love it. It’s even got a replaceable SSD, works with NVMe with a cheap adapter.

To the OP's question... No, I would not get a MB "Pro" today. Apple's "pro" design philosophy has totally gone in the wrong direction, and I don't like or nor will support it. Unless Apple returns to its pro design roots, I'd either look at a used pre-butterfly keyboard MBP, or a new Windows machine.

True story...

A friend of mine worked for Microsoft. When Bill Gates came to town he wanted to go to... McDonalds. So they took BG to a McD's drive-thru. Turns out Bill was the only one with cash on him. So he hands the driver the cash, then awkwardly reaches around from the back seat to get the change from the cashier window. The richest guy in the world had to get his change.

I guess that's why he is where he is.

Just purchased a 13" MBP w/touch bar last week for work. Love it so far and I hope I don't experience any keyboard issues as time goes on.

To think this was the MacBook Pro 10 years ago. Such a solid machine. If only they would use this design again with some modern ports, they could make a beastly professional laptop.

As long as Apple sells enough units it could care less...
Apple has become exactly what it once vehemently stood against, sold out for profit thx to weak minded men with more money than sense...

I love that design. But the 2007-2008 models had better keyboards.

So, give me:

- 2007-2008 Keyboards
- Unibody or Retina bodies
- USB-A, USB-C, DisplayPort/Thunderbolt 2, HDMI, Ethernet, Magsafe, SD Card, and I'd be happy. There are Windows laptops with all of this stuff excluding MagSafe.

I am happy with our maxed out 2010 17" and 2015 15", both have been perfect. I really need to replace the 2010, but keep postponing because of the issues. Really hope the 2019 model will fix most. Otherwise it's Lenovo X1 Extreme, P1 or maybe even a Dell...

My answer was yes until this past couple weeks where my 2017 MPB keyboard started failing. I imagine most people would say the same until they experience the issue themselves.
