Pretty asshat yellow journalism "reporting." And using Gizmodo as a source -- the main source, no less. Get real. Forget about it's know bias these days, they are hardly experts to be taken seriously.

this the fact of life. Apple is inpervious to it. When you create a device, you will get defects. They try to do as much quality testing as you can, but if you want it out faster, then you have to sacrifice quality. Which is why phones that get new revisions every 6 month tend to look like garbage.

That said,

I don't want to talk to steve or Ive-man. I just want to talk to RF engineer.

My question? WTF? this isn't rocket science, this is science so WHY DO IT?

yeah I'm a pretty big fan of nightly news think there one of the best but after i hear they used Gizmodo as a source i stoped the video

not to get off subject, but did I miss a press release by Apple stating they sold 1.5 million iPhones in one day?

just curious.

Don't miss the press release where they get 1.5 million returns.

I agree with who said this may be the last Steve email. He ****ed up with that snide reply and Apple engineering messed up. You know what? I love Apple and its products. I take that back I love parts of some of their products now but I am starting to hate Apple it's becoming Microsoft.

Also anyone remember Steve's response about the stupid "hockey puck" mouse?

he said the SAME THING. EXACTLY. in the demonstration no less. he showed "how to hold it" with the tips of your fingers. Retarded. No one holds a mouse like that. That thing was the WORST MOUSE I HAVE EVER SEEN. EVER.

as much as i tried, couldn't duplicate the issue. not even one bar would drop no matter how i held the phone.

i am in miami-dade florida and there must be so many redundant towers here that the signal will always be strong.

Bingo!

I covered a wide area today and sure enough in some areas I could not duplicate. Pretty certain some users luck is just location.

Same here just an hour north of you. I can sometimes get one bar to drop, but other than that it's a total non-issue for me. I've made countless calls since Wednesday (holding in either hand) and not a single drop or missed call.

I'm not saying there's no issue at all, but the magnitude and proportion of it is just so completely hyped thanks to viral media. The whole "I can't make a call just picking it up" is BS unless something else is at play.

Viral media? Try Apple apologists. Steve should have never responded because this is a serious issue that is impacting a large amount of users. Glad you're fine but 50% of my calls drop and I had no problems with my 3GS.

I don't think they got ripped... they got exactly what they deserve at this point and with the statements they have made.

It IS an issue if I have to walk around with tape on my phone... I know they were hoping it would go away but it is not.

Do you think all phones have the issue, but it is only exhibited by the location of the device? I just saw a poster who could cut in and out of a call positioning his had over the left side of the phone. He opened his hand call normal, closed in the phone, caller went silent. Weird; I don't have it in my location/phone I am just curious.

I'll refund your $200 if you send me your iPhone 4. Then you can go back to your 3GS and be happy.

If Apple didn't know this was gonna be an issue for a lot of people they never would have made the 'bumper'. When i saw Steve Jobs first explain the reasons behind the design to then say 'oh and we are making a case called a bumper'

:apple: <- can't touch this.

it's going to take time and real world data for Apple to actually isolate the issue. the fact that 3 users in close proximity in Florida having no issues whatsoever is by no means scientifically sound data.

but the fact is, 3 people here on MR, and everyone i personally know who got the 4, have had no issues here in Florida. AT ALL.

there has to be some kind of geographical or cellular common denominator for those who are experiencing this issue.

I'd like to know what conspiracy theory the iPod socks fall under.

NBC is pretty useless anyway unless were referring to MSNBC and Rachel Maddow she rocks. But anyway the media is really spinning this in a bad way they make it seem like every iPhone 4 user is having this issue, And that is simply not the case.

You dont want my iPhone unless you want a big yellow stripe across the bottom of the phone. Ill gladly sell it to you though for $200 as long as you can get AT&T to let me out of my additional 2 years.

I dont think all phones exhibit this problem, but it seems like more than a small percentage are being impacted which makes this a serious discussion at a minimum.

It's too bad that the media has grabbed this and most won't do their own research.

I'm finding that mine easily outperforms my 3G iPhone regardless of what the onscreen indicator says. I can easily drive the indicator to zero bars, and there is some affect on performance.. but it's far less than the indicator would lead one to believe. Meanwhile performance takes a really hard hit when I hold my 3G in different ways, but the indicator always shows 4-5 bars regardless.

Heck I was getting 1.5Mb/s up and down today via 3G in my basement.
