You dont want my iPhone unless you want a big yellow stripe across the bottom of the phone. Ill gladly sell it to you though for $200 as long as you can get AT&T to let me out of my additional 2 years.

I dont think all phones exhibit this problem, but it seems like more than a small percentage are being impacted which makes this a serious discussion at a minimum.

The yellow goes away after a few days. I too had the yellow but it's gone now. It's just adhesive that isn't dried yet.

Ok so I got the iPhone and I do suffer from this problem. But I still love this phone and I believe is the greatest phone invented yet. I'm I happy with apple response. Yes. But if a bumper fixes the problem short term well I expect a free one. And later they can do a recall for the phone. They have 40 billion in cash so they can use some of that to show us that they are loyal to their customers like we are loyal to them. Now if they don't fix the problem will I be mad enough to return the phone? No because I love this device. So idk just my 2 cents

My GF's and my mum's had the yellow (both 16GB), we were kinda disappointed until mum's started to fade by the the end of the day Thursday, and my GF's was gone this morning.

There's some rumors that there may be a software issue that's exacerbating the issue, and it will be handled soon. Worst case scenario will probably be akin to the sleeves that Nintendo bundles with WiiMotes (read: possible free bumpers for affected iPhones).

Okay just got the video off my TiVo.

Here's the link:
http://www.filedropper.com/nightlynewsmacrumors
(trying out FileDropper, anywhere else you guys want me to upload the file? I'm sure NBC will have it online soon)

PS. Haven't had any problems with my iPhone 4, yet.

EDIT: Mine is the actual video... not filming the TV screen!!

How fast did you get that off your TiVo? I can't seem to figure out how to speed up my transfers. I can tell it was an HD source but you chose SD to upload. Anyway, let me know.

Look NBC is gonna do whatever it takes to try and degrade an demoralize any successful business we have in this country. They seem to think that as a corp policy . If you are making money in this country as a corporation the current administration and it's ally(NBC) are gonna do whatever it takes to bring you down. FACT. It is exactly this kind of sensationalized journalism that breeds like cancer in this country.

Yeah I started this thread...yeah I am a fanboy....yes I think Jobs is one of the most savvy CEO's we will see in our lifetimes. I just love how every time Apple does have a boo boo it seems like every one in the media is on them like a fly on chit. Lets see how many times has Microsoft been completely hammered in the press for all it's security flaws and poorly designed software that doesn't work? It's usually a small blip at the end of the broadcast and you never hear of it again . Yet it continues to produce an inferior product. Granted this is not a fair comparison because they are not a hardware manufacturer

I guess my point being when Apple , the greatest computer co to date, has a f up they get trounced from every angle and I think it's sensationalized and waay over done. It is a kin to breaking your 5 yr olds arm when he steals a cookie from the counter. I saw this play out last year with the whole Toyota issue. A company that has had a spotless record on safety and reliability and they got slaughtered.(ok yeah a few people died) but the media drama is getting old.

I did read the bumbers case thing i mean is not a proper long term solution tho

I can fix the problem give me some scotch tape, if u talk about the problem it sounds bad but it's not it'd not if u just toutch the damn thing itvonly happens if the 2 left antennas toutch witch happens when your hand bridges the 2. Witch won't happen with individual fingers only a solid piece of "meat" your hand. I am fine with it but as much as a nucence it us it is easily fixable

Mine works fine. I just have my doubts about all these reports.

Like you said it's only been a few hours of ownership.

That's why I think all this talk is premature.

At least I hope there's not a huge problem. I really doubt it though.

I agree. I got my via fedex yesterday and no problems. It's seem to spread like wildfire, when one person youtube something he noticed. So, others got curious and tried it out. It's not from drop calls, but rather something odd and curiousity of the new antenna. Perhaps, apple hater liked the phone and wanted to find flaws. He may want to hate it, but he could not resist.

Most people, 99%, will buy a case for any new phone. I bought one today. It is the Belkin Grip-vue case. It covers the gap and give a good grip to the phone. It will protect the backside.

It is quite early!! ios3.0 has been updated to 3.1.3 (fix bugs and stuff). I suspect the ios4.0 will be updated soon!! Perhaps the new antenna need a software update, a firmware upgrade. My phone never had the reception problem, but the case is an extra insurance.

Oh it's not, neither are the rubber sleeves on WiiMotes, but it's better than nothing. We can hope Apple R&D learns from this and moves forward with a better solution.

Yea I have faith in apple are going to do the right thing and if they don't well I'm still keeping the i4 lol

Dude, Get a grip. This is on every local and national news program in the country. THIS IS A MAJOR APPLE DISASTER.

Calm down. Realize that this will be a "moment of truth" for a company we've adored for years.

This is a DISASTER for Apple.

*PS Front page of the New York Times, Fast Company, LA Times etc etc etc. Do you see that it's a nightmare?

Ooooh, it looks like you too downloaded the deluded-opinion-to-fact converter app! I thought I was the only one. Don't you just love this app? I can input any random thought into it and press the convert button and boom!, it becomes a fact. The only gripe I have with it is that when those converted facts are presented in written form outside the app, you have to type FACT in bold letters after each such 'fact'. Perhaps we can contact the developer and try to find a work around, like holding the phone upside down maybe?

So, CNN was praising Apple? ABC News? BBC? Nope. All the same story.

I love apple and the whole thing kinda makes me wanna stick my head in the sand actually.

I won't go so far as "Major disaster", that's happening in Gulf right now. This is an inconvenience at worst.

Wow finally a rational thought... Of course the media is going to cover it it's probably the biggest phone launch ever, and the controversy just makes for more interesting news. It's all about numbers and ratings for them.

Well, honestly, we've been dealing with the Gulf Spill for nearly 70 days, and on a 24 news cycle, news agencies are worried we as viewers will suffer from a tone deafness of sorts when it comes to news. So anything to generate viewership will and has been exploded. Even if this is in the industry standard 3%, the news agencies are going to pump it up, I mean, I believe someone on this thread mentioned 1.5million units sold on first day?

Apple is on a roll......

iPad's that have problems with wifi .....

iPhone's that cant make calls ......

So much for Apple quality control

Anyone waiting for a software fix ? Get in line , they acknowledged iPad wifi issue's 2 months ago and we still have ......NOTHING !

it's going to take time and real world data for Apple to actually isolate the issue. the fact that 3 users in close proximity in Florida having no issues whatsoever is by no means scientifically sound data.

but the fact is, 3 people here on MR, and everyone i personally know who got the 4, have had no issues here in Florida. AT ALL.

there has to be some kind of geographical or cellular common denominator for those who are experiencing this issue.

Well If you go to the apple Store at the florida mall all demos have the same problem
and i got 2 and have problems

Oh, its ok. Apple has billions in cash. They can afford to cover the major dud that the iPhone 4 has become.

Maybe a few years back when the only real competitor was RIM. Google is closing in fast and there are very solid new Android phones coming out monthly. Go to any Android forum and you will see a ton of iPhone switchers. This is without question a big problem Apple cant really afford to have right now.

i love apple and have for a long time. i've owned a few iphones and a few macs. i don't have anything against them and still don't really, i love their products.

but i believe they deserve the heat they are getting now because Steve Jobs' reply sounded like an angry restaurant manager getting sassy with someone who sent their food back.

hold it differently? buy a case? this is a 500 dollar device. i'm not complaining about how fragile it is because I think it looks nice and i'll be careful with or put it in something protective. but the fact that instead of admitting his mistake he told the customer to adapt themselves to the phone's design flaw is absolutely absurd and something i wouldn't expect from apple.

i would like to think that apple is a company that can admit their mistakes and be good to their customers, not a company who says we must learn to adapt to the phone rather than the phone adapted to us. you shouldn't have to buy a case or hold your phone awkwardly (especially if you are left handed). this is supposed to be a premium top of the line piece of tech. and comparing it to other tech with flaws doesn't help, it just enforces the fact that it's not as top of the line as Steve would like it to be and us to believe.

and anyone who thinks that Foxconn is some great factory that surely no errors could come out of, you're absolutely crazy. conditions in that place are not optimal obviously. they can barely stop the workers from jumping off the roof.
