don't have ios 6 yet, can you post pic?

It's labelled Jamaica which I, and I guess the guy who I replied to, didn't realise was a legitimate district name. However, I wouldn't bet my arm that the label doesn't in fact refer to the island of Jamaica and is actually only correct due to an incredible coincidence.

Try searching on Whaley bridge derbyshire uk, zoom in and you can see different resolutions of maps where the country side has been stitched together, not very good....

The thing is, the result changes label completely if you add "nyc" to the search:

"JFK airport" >> "Jamaica" (which is actually "Jamaica, Queens")
"JFK airport nyc" >> "John F Kennedy International Airport".

Same pin.

According to apples new maps I live in black and white and uphall is about half a mile east

I liked going back through this thread and reading all the posts by the apologists saying "it's just a beta, everything will be fine at release, hurrrrrrr."

What now, folks?

How does Apple fix this?

And why would you release a product that is obviously no more than a quarter as good of a product we used to have?

Very disappointing

i get i cant have the 3D flyovers on a iphone 4 but this new maps is useless atlest the old one worked

no satalite images work, just get a bunch of question marks, not more street view, just a horrible app, sometimes apple just needs to be friends with google instead of thinking they dont need them

New look of maps definitely threw me off.
Used maps for a full day and already over it.

Really don't care what the deal is as long as it does what I need it to do and Apple maps does that.

Crapple Maps is like Siri all over again - ****.

At least with Siri they have the sense to have the word BETA next to it on their website.

I consider maps to be a fundamental app on the iPhone and the fact they have got it so wrong, for a company that has so much money to invest in a decent offering, is laughable.

So disappointed, I really am.

Why do the apologists keep saying 'give apple time to fix this, in a few weeks or months it'll be much better'?

REALLY, SIR OR MADDAM?

If they release this crapfest after 3 years of work, it's going to take another 2-3 years MINIMUM before it's even close to google maps.
Their keynote now, is just so much more disingenuous, "we think it's really great", they said.

Literally everything that could be wrong with it, is wrong with it.

Wrong information on locations.
Very little information.
Very few points of interest.
TERRIBLE satellite photography, did they take the pictures with an iPhone 3G from space?
No street view.
ZERO transport information, NONE. W.T.F?

Probably the worst thing they've ever done to the iPhone, maps are an ABSOLUTE core functionality of a smartphone and this is piss poor.

I'd expect better from a startup that had a few million in seed funding, seriously.

well said, they talk in the keynotes like its the best thing ever and its not even ready at all

the satalite images do look like a 3G took them its really an embarassing app,

I searched for my home address, as you do, and it didn't even get the street right. I typed in the street and it still got it wrong.. oh dear.

I agree. I understand there may be a conflict of interest with Google over Android, but after everything that happened between Microsoft and Apple we still have Office Mac and iOS devices that can work with PC's.

I think this may be one of those things that comes back and bites Apple in the apple cap.

I read here that there is a "report problem" type button or something in iOS 6 maps. If it is then i suggest people to report that current app is crap and they want google maps back.

I was disappointed that the Transit plugin just launches some other app - gee thanks, I could have just done that to begin with. I thought it would let Transit providers overlay directly into the Maps app.

Anyone else annoyed by the "traffic" feature?

It apparently only gives you roads that are at a crawling stop. There's no "yellow" areas, and whatever is "green" is just blank. Form over function.

Just installed iOS 6 and had a look around the area near the house I recently moved out of (don't know the area around my new house well enough yet) in maps to see what all the fuss is about.

Unless there's been some radical changes in Brixton in the last month, there's A LOT of mistakes. It's mad. I don't think I'm going to be able to trust iOS 6 this with the amount of missing/fabricated/inaccurate information.
