Apple it's time to use liquidmetal. It will cost more but it is more resistant than titanium.

http://liquidmetal.com

It would be nice that some company could change the body of the iphone and put it on liquidmetal. Some will pay the high price for doing that.

I didn't say, nor imply it was new.

Then it shouldn't be new to you either that sitting with a cell phone in a tight pants pocket can subject your expensive device to undue stresses at best, and damage at worst.

And in fact, it's not. It's already been well established that previous iPhone models and other Android phones are subject to the same problem. For some reason, people are choosing the iPhone 6, right now, to suddenly act as if this is a major problem that we haven't ever seen before, and all of sudden, right now, it's an unacceptable thing.

I thought the video itself was amazing. The ease at which he bent that sucker and the angle he got on the glass without cracking it.

I don't know about "ease." To me, easily bending something doesn't involve my hands trembling as I exert force on the object. Bending the phone required constant effort over a sustained period of time, which to me doesn't constitute "easy."

I don't understand why people who don't want a bent phone are being talked to like idiots.

Now who's talking to people like they're idiots? No one wants a bent phone. It's just interesting that now, suddenly, people are acting as if this is a new thing. It's as ming boggling as if people suddenly freaked out that getting your phone wet could possibly mean that it would stop working.

I guess we should start asking what pants people are wearing and tell them they are wearing them wrong,

You can wear whatever pants you like. But if you're going to put a phone in your pocket, maybe a 5.5 inch phone made out of aluminum isn't the best candidate for your use-case, and you shouldn't buy it.

But Android won't bend!!! :D

Trust me, my Samsung Focus and Galaxy Nexus were the flimsiest pieces of **** I've ever owned. They would bend. Plastic bends easier than aluminuminum.

Oh really?

Simply, the iPhone case quality is poor.

clearly doctored video; there's just no way plastic is stronger than metal. And I'm sure the first i6+ video of him bending it he was really trying to break that iPhone while this note 3 test, he was barely bending it. Another FUD video nothing more.

Predictable and expected fanboy response in ' denial ' :D

Seriously though, this is simply down to poor design choices and not understanding how the majority of people use their phone. Ironically, Apple always harps on about "user experience"....... Quite....

You mean like when the wrapped the antenna around the phone so that if you held it the way you would hold a phone it attenuated the signal?

Oh, wait, that never happened because some people didn't have the problem.

I guess it's kind of like a fine Swiss watch or a German car. They are beautifully crafted and have meticulous fit & finish, but are much more delicate and fragile than a G-shock or a Honda.

I've never had issues. Presumably, the folks who are posting about this, especially those who review phones frequently, also have not experienced it with other models.

Once again, I am glad your choice of where you store your phone on your person works for you. Removing a phone from my pants pocket every time I sit doesn't work for me, nor have I ever been given a compelling reason to do so. While I don't think I have been carrying a mobile phone for quite as long as you have (based on the model you posted), I have certainly kept one in my left front pocket every day for over a decade. I am here to see if this phone has a higher tendency to bend in this situation than others. If so I will either choose a case that would eliminate/reduce the risks, or choose another phone entirely. As I mentioned before, right now it is too soon for me to tell if this would be an issue for me or not.

A video depicting some random guy successfully butchering a superior apple iPhone vs some plastic junk samsung device.

Obviously you work for samsung if you think this "bend gate" fiasco is real.

wow "Superior Apple iPhone", again do a search on #BendGate, denial fanboyism oh and by the way I'm waiting for my iPhone plus...

You mean applying a ton of force and pressure to an object will bend it? News to me. Most phones won't do this unless you really want to. Hey, at least it still works.

Have you ever considered that decently build plastic phones (and all iPhones up until the 4s) have a have a steel frame inside to guarantee structural integrity? As long as it is no a flat and ultra thin piece, good luck to bend steal just with pressure from you hands.

Don't know what you mean buy ton of pressure, but in the case of pressure from your own muscles, You will bend it only if the object is purely made of thin enough layers of soft materials like aluminium and plastic. As mentioned many times before, most smartphones would have a steal frame inside on which the electrinic components and the casing are attached.

Seriously though.... find me any smartphone out there that I can not bend with my bare hands? Laws of physics do work in our universe and smartphones are not excluded.

This is not a new tactic. Every single year when an Apple product comes out you have people scrutinising the device in a hope of finding something that perhaps can be classed as "Gate"
Same story last year with touch ID.

omg at that video already having over 3 million views and it hasn't even been 24 hours, it's about to become his most viewed video too:eek:

So does putting a case on the phone make it less likely to bend in a pocket? I have a case on my 6 and want to be sure

Its a money generating time for some. That's why for every new Apple products released you get people on a hunt desperately trying to find some problem and GATE it up. It pays off.

Apple should really make indestructible product just like all the rest of phone makers.
