I actually did read most of the thread/started at the beginning, skipped to the middle, skipped to the last pages. Anyway, sure from his credit card he'll be able to collect insurance on it, but he'll not be able to recover what was lost.

Well isn't that what the credit card is for? ...to recover what was lost?

Anyway this seller is a low life , thinking he can do this and get away with it, I just sold my iPhone on eBay for $670 and the damn guy never paid  Yeah I'll get my fees back and stuff but I sill have to relist and wait another week for it to end again.

sigh...... STILL wrong.

1. credit card - dispute the charges, get conditional credit, then after providing documentation of transaction, the credit is permanent. Lose no money
2. paypal - dispute the charges, paypal investigates, burden of proof is on the seller, if no response or no proof, refund all money.

i highly encourage you to actually read the fine print of the terms and conditions. you'll learn much about your rights as a consumer, instead of relying on others to tell it to you. Otherwise, we might be misleading you for laughs and you'd be none the wiser.

left him neg fb

first time i ever did that on ebay =(

just wanted to make sure i got it in there before his ebay account got suspended

Bottom line after all of this is almost the top line too:

"If it looks too good to be true, it probably is"

it's been said over and over and over and yet people still get taken in on these things. Just because the credit card company will give you the money back doesn't mean there's no cost to the system and it propagates this kind of fraudulent nonsense.

World of internet, please, the time has come to crush these scammers by NOT FALLING FOR IT.

[best of luck to those here who need to get their money back, let it be 'once bitten, twice shy'.]

som1 just gave him pos fb from a phone only 5 days before i got the macbook

im going to feel bad now if i get the macbook and gave him a neg

Did you notice the positive feedback from the one buyer in the private listing? Wasn't the MB auctions private too? That means he got his, right? Someone should send him a message asking what he purchased since he said that it was as described and delivered.

Then again, I still think that the seller's account was high-jacked.

i already contacted that person who left the positive feedback and he/she told me that the item was a phone.

i don't think the seller's account was hijacked. here are my reasons

1. Hijacked accounts usually tell buyers to send payment to a specific paypal account. Unless the hijacker has BOTH ebay and paypal passwords, they can't touch the money. So the auction description will tell buyers to pay to a specific paypal email address. (Seen it before with powerbook auctions)

2. Hijacked accounts don't last that long and have many more items for sale. Since the hijacker knows that the account won't last long, they have PAGES upon PAGES of items for sale.

3. Seller also responds to emails sent through "contact seller" link on ebay. The seller would also have to have the password for the email account. therefore, a hijacker would also have a separate email address in the listing to be contacted at. everytime you use "contact seller" a copy of the email is sent to the email address on file. The real owner would likely notice emails about auctions that they didn't list. (another reason why hijacked accounts don't last long.)

4. items sold are consistent with previous items sold. The person sold fake iphones. fake iphones are made in China. macbooks are also made in china. usually, hijackers takes the account of someone who sells lots and lots of small knicknacks, where there is a high number of feedback.

very true

we still might see are macbooks

too bad he will prob be to mad at us to sell us more lol

can we retract negs?

no. feedback is not retractable. sellers can respond to feedback, to give their side of the story.

Why would he sell it to us?
He's given you a bogus tracking number.
Also, I called ebay and they said that since the seller has DSR (detailed seller ratings, the x out of 5 stars) of LESS than 4.1, he can not list new auctions.

We appreciate you taking the time to file this report. eBay will investigate to determine resolution.

mmmmmmmmmm, You got done

the one you contacted is one of the criminal group or seller itself.

what evidence or reasoning do you have to support that idea?

who's to say that i'm not the seller, trying to defend myself?
or for that matter, who's to say i'm not steve jobs, marauding as a troll, trying to pump up the secondhand market for macs?

if you can't back up your opinions with reasoning, then stay away from making such rash irresponsible statements.

yup. his feedback rating was at 54 at 100% before the negative feedback started.

now he's at 90.2% with 49. i'm interested to see what is ebay threshold level to cancel his account

final update - the seller's account has been killed. The final "tally" was 7 negative feedbacks in 2 days. before that, 100% feedback.

it's like I hear the "wicked witch is dead" song (from Wiz of Oz) in my head :)

time to wait to get our money back from paypal.

I have read this whole thread, and I got to say, its pretty funny. I hope it all turns out well, but this was an easy to tell scam. Sorry to say.

Goodluck:apple:
