Paypal is holding the money in this guys paypal account. He can't touch the money for 21 days, or if the buyer leaves positive feedback on ebay, or if 3 days have passed after delivery conformation. Look it up on Paypal, it states these 3 things I mentioned. This is only for items of this nature, like computers, and gift cards and such. Relax when purchasing on paypal you are safe all the way around.

The thing is, there has to be things that will flag it. Not all payments are held. I sold a notebook via eBay for about $600 and I had access to the paypal money right away. I don't know the feedback info on the guy but I dunno if he would be flagged to be held payment or not.

The FAQs state that PayPal considers a number of factors in determining a whether a transaction may have a higher risk of dissatisfied buyers, including the following:

* Seller's % Positive Feedback in the last 30 days
* Seller's Detailed Seller Ratings in the last 30 days
* Final price for the item
* Shipping & handling fee
* Seller's eBay tenure as an eBay member
* Seller's total number of Feedback

I don't know.

he has already answered he's not ditching us, he is very skeptical himself and provided his tracking number, just be patient.

i said i was calling him wednesday since saturday so i bet these #s wont even work anyway

did the other guy call his ccard company?what card did you use?

requested a refund last night and it has already been processed. paypal had his account flagged before i had even submitted the request so it went directly past an actual dispute with paypal taking care of this quickly.
so i learned that there is some jerk off with way too much time on his hands, its really sad that people like this choose to exist as the scum to society. i am back at square one on obtaining a laptop. know of any deals on a macbook pro unibody 2.4? lol

i also just initiated a paypal dispute. if it doesn't pan out within the next day or so, i'm going straight to my credit card.

While everyone has a right to doubt Travis as the eBay seller, people should really keep that to themselves and not insinuate until there's further proof.

If the item is being shipped via USPS w/o signature confirmation, you're in for a long ride.

To make a long story short, I once ordered AppleCare via eBay shipped via USPS and the seller did this scam where some random item was shipped to my area code and deemed my original item shipped while it never came. USPS electronic tracking shows items shipped to an address in your area code, but not an actual address. Lucky for me, I scammed the scammer back. On PayPal, any item over $250 requires signature confirmation and the seller did not send it w/ that feature. I filed a complaint w/ PayPal and they were able to get my money back.

Another time, I had a seller on a car forum scam others and myself. We all sent him $ for his parts but no parts ever came. We all created one big complaint to PayPal and after 4 months of evidence collection and investigation, PayPal finally gave everyone a partial refund of our payments. The scammer went dark and authorities did not allow for his phone # or address to be released though we had his real IP address. So, it's very possible for people to do this type of thing and get away with it.

I really don't know who you should be contacting, eBay/PayPal/Credit Card company.

I mean, if you lost your cc and someone bought a tv from Best Buy, sure, your cc co. will be the first and only place to contact. But if it's via eBay, you're technically going thru three companies and having to merge and coordinate the complaints. And it's likely they're all going to tell you to contact one another to get the $ back. It's going to be a damn ***** mess.

Good luck and keep us posted.

you know... you got a good deal if it were real (but not worth your time and hassle)

you could buy the 2.0 macbook alu for 1099$ on the apple.com refurbished which isnt that much more, still a good deal in my eyes.

I've been following this thread, just curious of the outcome..
I agree with you (rust.puppet) and thats what I've thought all along. A refurbished 2.0 can be bought for not that much more than this shady eBay offer. Why wouldnt you guys go for the 'sure thing' and just buy refurbished??
Regardless, I hope you guys get your money back and everything works out.

good find

they left neg fb fast you think we should all give our neg fb now to get this paypal thing moving faster?

You are definitely not getting your money back, sorry bud.

Remember: if it seems too good to be true, then it is.

wow. you're either lazy or just not knowledgeable.

this thread has already talked about different ways of getting money back, 2 different ways, in fact.

your statement about not getting money back is flat out wrong. you can figure out on your own why that is.

How exactly did you pay for the item? Paypal balance, debit card, credit card, etc.

edit: Nevermind, I just saw that the item is covered for up to $2000 so it doesn't matter.

If'nn this is a hijacked account (as it sounds since the user had great feedback up until recently) then there is very little chance that the OP will be getting his money back.

If you read the entire thread, you'd know that he paid by credit card. Instead of just reading the last few posts....

I actually did read most of the thread/started at the beginning, skipped to the middle, skipped to the last pages. Anyway, sure from his credit card he'll be able to collect insurance on it, but he'll not be able to recover what was lost.
