Oh really? I didn’t know only US user can add this playlist..
Couldn't say for sure, but I come up empty when I do a search. *shrug*

I'm not subscribed to either service but listen to Spotify free daily. I don't even think about opening/subscribing Apple music. Apple's music selection just isn't there.

i know people's tastes are different and AM won't have everything for everyone, but I grew up in the 70s and 80s when my music selection was top 40 radio and my brother's 45s. I find anyone who says Apple's selection of 45 million songs "just isn't there" to be pretty precious. :D

Good for Apple! He who has the most money to invest usually does win the competitive battle. Competition is a very good thing.

Just renewed my status as a student for the discounted pricing. It only checks once a year and I graduate in less than a month. Good timing :D
I'm not sure if this is the case for everyone, but my unidays account has stayed active now 3 years after graduating. My university keeps my student email active forever though and I am an employee of the university so maybe that's why it still functions. Either way, I'm happy with the $5 Apple Music.

They have more music than spotify does. The selection is superior.

Can’t say that’s the case 100%

When I had Apple Music some songs disappeared off my playlist (last year). I went ahead and searched for the song again to add it back and it wasn’t on the app. I guess the artist removed it. This happened a few times.

Am I the only one who still buys music? I've seen my friends royalty checks for the money they earned from these two streaming services. It's ridiculously low.

Oh they don't have all the same music as each other. But apple does have, in total, more than spotify. That's just a fact. Millions more songs.

One thing I don’t like about Apple Music is the sound level is different from song to song. I’m constantly having to adjust volume up and down because some songs are louder than others.

Here is the breakdown. Apple does pay artists more than Spotify. Napster (surprisingly) pays the most. I didn't even know they still had a service.

Your source for this info? MS Excel? Lol

Wait, but I thought the narrative these days and as that Apple's services are a sign of it's rapid decline and imminent failure??!

It’s the biggest and most important music market in the world, to be the biggest in the US is extremely valuable and important.
To call it a fraction tells me you don’t know much about the music industry :)

Biggest? You know that China and India has 4 times more population than US? US-centrism will kill such forums...

Sure if you like top 40 radio LOL.

I wonder if they're counting the Verizon customers who get it free as well as any other service that offers free Apple music?
It is not actually free on Verizon Wireless. If you sign on to the Verizon’s Unlimited plan, you get 6 months trial and then have to pay $9.99 month after trial is over. If Verizon is paying for the 6 months, then this most likely counted as “paid subscriber”.

It is free permanently on “beyond unlimited”

Let me know when Apple Music finally has discovery algorithms even close to as good as Spotify's. I've tried switching four times since the launch of Apple Music, went back to Spotify every single time. Spotify's weekly discovery playlists are unparalleled and so fine-tuned to my tastes. Even after sticking with Apple Music for months I got absolutely worthless recommendations.

Dude, at the time, there wasn't anything else if you wanted to listen on the go. Well, I guess you could get cassette tapes or 8-tracks, but it was all too much bother most of the time. If we were driving anyplace, that's what was on. :)

Agreed 100%, I actually have been using both services for the last three months switching back and forth and there is no doubt Spotify has a superior (to me) algorithm for choosing what I would like to hear and even throwing in some new things that are spot on. I have worked out of my home for the last 28 years and have always had music in the background usually 12+ hours a day whether it was a CD player and receiver for the first years then to an XM receiver and now streaming for the last ten years. Music is very important to me an at this point in time Spotify has earned my business.

I stand corrected. I see it is included with Above an Beyond plan and as long as you continue with it. There must have been a deal made between Verizon and Apple. Now I wonder how long will this last?

I tried Spotify once, when it launched, and it sounded like a 96kbps mp3 stream, like Sirius radio... never went back. Loving my Apple Music.
I had Sirius for free on trial basis when I bought my vehicle and have to say the music did not sound like it was broadcasted in stereo. Needless to say, I did not subscribed after free trial eneded.
