Somebody probably thinks I'm joking, but I very seriously don't have any ****ing idea what's going on or what I'm supposed to be doing.

We're starting at night, so each team of two is asking for clues and each team of two has one of the three special types who may or may not act on their power tonight. Since some of those powers can result in death if they are wrong, not everyone will be using their power.

i assume you read the first post?

anyway, there are 12 players divided in two factions of 6.
each faction includes 3 teams of 2.
each team includes one player with a special ability (thief, saboteur, espionage)

the goal is to either eliminate everyone from the opposite faction or to find a treasure.

at the beginning you only know your teammate and faction. you can PM your teammate.
of the remaining 10 players, 4 are with you and 6 against.

each 'day' one player is voted off (like a WW game).
each 'night' every player has a chance to either get a clue to find the treasure OR find out if another player is with your faction ('fingering'). if he/she is, your team of 2 and the team of the player you asked about are united, can share intel and Pm each other. if you are wrong, either you or your teammate dies.

if you are the specialist in your team, you have the added option of using your special ability (instead of asking for clues or fingering someone).

That's not totally true: "During the ‘nighttime’, each team (you + your teammate) have two ‘actions’ they could take (one for each player)" fingering+getting a clue, if one of those two gets killed only one action is left.

But I think that Tomorrow understood all of these things already before.

but isn't it the same thing?
the two action could be two clues, two fingerings, one each, or one of those combined with a special action, so it's equivalent to having one action per player.

ok, now understand your point. Actually I thought no, it's either a+b, only a or only b, or no action. Didn't think a+a or b+b would be possible (assuming both agents are alive). Am I the only one? Maybe ravenvii can clarify?

Thinking about this, it would make some sense to gather e.g. 2 clues at one night, otherwise it could possibly take a lot of time to gather enough clues until guessing the location of the cache would make sense.

I was under the assumption that each player could ask for a clue or 'finger' someone else. Additionally, the special in each group had the option of using their special ability.

For example:
Player A is a normal Spy: 'A' can either get a clue, or finger another player
Player B is the Special Spy: 'B' can get a clue, finger another player, or use their ability.

I could be WAY off on that though!

I think you're right. I was under the impression too that an 'action' (clue|fingerin) and the use of a 'special' are two separate operations.

Just FYI, you can and your partner can not both do the same action, per Raven.

So for example you can not both ask for clues.

are you sure? i don't see that in the rules at all.
if that is the case, does it matter who does what?

for example:
player A1 asks to finger player B1, while player A2 asks for a clue.
if thief C1 asks to steal from A1, does s/he die or get A2's clue?

don't think this is right. One problem with the 1st post is the term team. CIA and KGB are 'teams' or 'main teams' while the six cells (A1,B1,C1 / A2,B2,C2) are noted as 'teams' as well. Maybe ravenvii can explain the precise procedure more clearly?

Everyone: I only resolve the night's actions AFTER ALL ORDERS ARE IN. So don't request a clue then sit and wait for it. You'll only get it after all teams send in their 2 night actions. And yes, "take no action" is an option.

Also, I get the feeling that several of the teams are NOT PMing each other, acting by themselves. Don't do this, PM each other!

And then send me the two actions per team in one PM.

And to clarify: even though only one person on a team has a special ability, this is only for the purpose of "if this person dies, the team loses this ability". For all other intents and purposes the *team* has the ability. An action can only be taken once per 'night' per team (only able to request one clue, finger once and so forth, per 'night). In other words, a team can't request two clues or finger two people.

And to avoid any confusion re: terms, KGB/CIA will be called factions, and the teams within those factions will be called, er, teams. :)

Other than that, Don't panic explained the rules beautifully above.

"RIIIIIIIING!"

"Mr. President, the red phone is ringing!"

"But I'm reading My Little Pony to the school kids!"

"IT'S A NUCLEAR EMERGENCY!"

"Nukular? What's that?"

---

"DAMMIT!" the agent shouted, slamming the phone receiver against his desk. Idiot president! It's an EMERGENCY!

The Soviets has been searching for the nuclear cache for a week already and we've been sitting on our laurels. Because the President couldn't be arsed to give an order for the CIA to initiate the search!

The agent makes an note to bribe Congress to give the CIA more... autonomy.

"Oh! Nukular!" the President's voice came out of the earpiece. "Nukular! That's bad! Get it and drop it on the Russukarians!"

Closing his eyes, the agent answered, "Yes sir. On it."

And the search is on.

Three teams, isolated from each other, around the world, has been informed. Information is scarce, but it's there.

"FIND NUKULAR AND SAVE FREEDOM!"

All orders in. It is now daytime. Vote away!

Seeing as how Tomorrow wont be able to figure out how to make retaliatory vote, I shall vote for him.

Also just for good measure, I suspect Plutonius as well. ;)

No objection from me - I can't figure out what the point of this game even is.

I think its to

1. figure out who the other faction is, and vote (kill) them out.

and/or

2. Discover where the Nukes are located on the grid, from post one.

There is no suspecting. There are two teams. There is no 'good' or 'bad' side. Each side has the same amount of people.

Is the consensus that a majoritarian no-lynch can bring us the next nighttime?
