I tried to play dumb since couldnt exactly come out and say I knew you were the swapper, although the wolves seemed to know who the new guard was anyways.

So you protected DP while knowing the ww made you out almost definitely? Brave!

And man, so sorry I messed that one up. Still better than swapping rick and ss though. Hindsight rocks! :D

I would say 75% of me thought you were innocent, 25% a baddie. The more you were around close to the deadline, when you werent in that much joepardy, the less I thought you were a baddie.

Also if you had been a bad buy, it would of been a risky, but brilliant move to to take the infected guards power and swap them to a villager, since you would know who the new guard was, and could kill them that night.

Well, of course the wolves knew who the new Guard was.

As an infected, I was now a wolf. Then, given that I had been informed, naturally enough, of what my new power was, that of the (used, and thus, now redundant) Oracle, this, in turn, meant that simple logic dictated that I had been swapped with Koodauw, who had been the Oracle, which meant that he was the new Guard; common courtesy (and game rules) required that I inform my wolfish colleagues/partners accordingly.

Correct, I over looked the fact that you would be notified as well.

It worked out in the end. In hindsight I should have confirmed that you were the swapper, since the wolves knew I was the new guard, but the village didnt. Also DP, much more vauluable than I, so it made since to me. He also seemed like the most likely target.

I do think the game became more challenging. What I do believe scavenging powers should be disallowed given that we have a necromancer that can bring back the power and with the help of the swapper, give it to someone else. Hence re-shuffle it.

Our strategy was based many times on trying to weed out experienced player first followed by someone new. However, the dramataic turn of events did not help in the end. I found my self quite angry at the fact that so many villager powers could potentially hinder us again after taking losses on our end with no avail.

Quite frustrating to say the least. And yes, SS, I thought of first killing her, but then something told me it'd be best to bring her in the fold. Mind you this decision was determined after Plutonius predicted so accurately his untimely demise; during Night 1.

as we are becoming more familiar with this format and the various roles, their use becomes more nuanced. and more fun.

any comments/suggestion about tweaks of the roles?

i think the infection being a night exclusive should become permanent

this game, i was the Bluff, which i think it is really useful only to wolves (or at least i couldn't figure out a scenario where it would be worth to use it as a villager).
it could be worth considering making it a wolf-specific role, although an indirect advantage of having it for the village is that it can not be used by the wolves.

in any case, whether it is kept in the general pool (which now i am leaning towards) or moved to the wolf pool, i think the restriction on changing the vote in the thread should be removed.
i would have it that you can post anything in the general thread, but once the bluff is in action, only the secret vote counts. Another aspect worth discussing is whether once it is cast it can be cancelled or changed.

i disagree. i think the scavenging power is great.
also consider that it is not to a given that it will be present (nor the necromancer and the other 'strong powers'), and -especially- that it could go to the wolves.

furthermore, the wolves also have additional powers, and some of them can be extremely powerful and used synergistically.

it is true however that the game has become more challenging as there are so many possibilities, but one advantage the wolves always have is that they can communicate and exchange notes, while the villagers are -at least initially- in the dark.

one other thing that makes it very challenging is that with all the powers, the fortunes of the two teams can swing wildly depending on one or two good or poor calls. but it is also what makes more exciting than the previous "grinding" version.

Did you play last game, Jav? Can't remember but that one worked heavily in favour of the wolfies, still villagers won it of course..

Now you were mainly unlucky having Pluto as an Alpha (dude can't play!!) and rick's guess with Sythas I think.

Pluto is a great player. He has gotten me killed (me as a villager and he as wolf). So I don't consider him a bad player.

Indeed. Had twietee's second swap request been the one I acted on, the wolves would have had the seer power. That would have been a potentially huge swing.

Also, had jav used the collapser power (anonymously, mind you), he could have saved SS and netted the wolves another kill, raising their free kill total to 3 (maniac, kamikaze, collapser vote swap).

As far as the next game, I think I'll take a break from GMing this time if someone else is ready to go.

I feel like we've seen these roles in use enough to have good ideas of how to swap the pools and modify them in useful ways.

fully agree.
the swapper in particular is a high risk-high reward kind of power.

i can GM the next one, depending on timeline (vacations coming up) and if i can come up with a story line :)
also we should probably wait for Ravenvii's EM game to start

He's a hack.

:p

No, I meant he's such a good player that he's likely to be scanned early, like DP or chrmjenkins, so that infecting early when it's night-time only is almost a necessity - that's why you were unfortunate having him as the Alpha.

i think the scavenging power is great.

The scavenging power should only apply to general powers or village / WW exclusive powers (exception: A villager scavenger should not get a WW exclusive power and a WW scavenger should not get a Villager exclusive power). The scavenger power should never work for village core or WW core powers.

The WW infection should return to an anytime infection for balance reasons.

As an FYI, macrumors is looking at adding wiki posts (posts multiple users can edit). https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1754327/

If implemented by the next game, we could consider having the GM add a post after the narrative post as a place for users to track votes for the day, or other reasons. If we're confident with the honor system, people could also use the post to even vote. Something to think about.

I'm ready to play in the next game :).

this could be interesting.

for tracking voting i also had thought about using some sort of poll option at the beginning

I think we need to get the EM game going and I'm taking a break for this one. I think DP said he is up next. Anyone can start one though, really.

Yes, that would be immune to tampering, good thought :)

actually i just tried to make a test poll (hadn't done one in a while, so i didn't remember what is possible), but i don't think there is enough flexibility in changing the poll after it is done.
in particular, i don't think voters can change their votes once they voted

I am used to other forums having polls that allow multiple selections and public voting. I know I've seen public voting here, but maybe not multiple selections (those tend to let users re-vote)
