great narration, QoS.

Darn, I am sorry to see young Elijah 'twietee' Caldwell go out like that, he was a good lad, overwhelmed by circumstances beyond his station.
Still i don't understand why he didn't choose to save himself, when it would have been so easy. he could have just called on Abraham "the raven", or some of the other questionable characters around here, and make it long enough for us to help him out, (and maybe save a bit of the Ale).
it must have been the alcohol acting.

Dear Clara, you'll have to guard your remaining supplies dearly, as we might need them not only for our souls, but indeed for our very bodies survivals, should we come across stretches where the available waters will be sullied and unfit for our poor soul's consumption.
I have learned from a recruiter in Independence there is Cholera running afoul in some of the lakes ahead. Beaver fever too.
should something unseemly happen to me, there is some medicaments in my bag. Laudanum for starters, and some special bark extracts i obtained from a chickasaw medicine men.
just leave the mushrooms alone. they serve other purposes... ;)

Was that his first game?

Brilliant. A+ Doc. :D Thank you specials for getting your moves in. Narration will be slightly delayed as I do some personal PMs. Stay tuned.

Fort Laramie, WY
July 19, 1843

When the travelers awoke that morning, they felt rested for the first time in weeks. Henry Barlow (Tomorrow) had managed to kill a buffalo and three snakes without incident, so they gratefully gorged themselves on buffalo steak, snake stew, and some of the last of the apple preserves they’d purchased at Chimney Rock. The temperatures had finally risen, and so had their spirits along with them.

They had made the difficult but correct choice to pool all of their resources until they reached Willamette Valley. John Benton (Astroboy) had taken some creative convincing on the matter, but it meant they all had an equal stake in protecting their supplies, in hunting, and in being frugal about resources. Each Kirksvillian worked and ate his or her share, and the success of the group depended on each of them pulling their weight. Nash Williams (Koodauw) proved to be a masterful cook, Oliver Tull (Tech God) could skin and sew, and Doc Robinson (Don’t panic) had managed to keep everyone from the stomach sickness that had plagued other parties.

That said, all were thankful they were nearing Fort Laramie. Traveling with no ale and with spirits saved only for medicinal uses had its distinct downside, not to mention they had run out of soap some weeks earlier.

Nash was strapping his shotgun across his back in preparation for the morning hunt when he went to rouse his unusually tardy hunting partner, Charlotte Adams (Moyank24). Teasing her had become a favorite pastime of his, though he could not understand her general disinterest in flirting with him. Women.

“Come now, Charlotte, we don’t have time to wait while you powder your face this morning. I assure you, the buffalo could care le - “

He nearly fell to a knee when he opened the tent and saw her there. She was half on her side, a bloodied letter beside her body. Her beautiful face held a very fitting expression - anger. Or was it extreme annoyance? And the blood - so much of it, her furs were soaked through. Even Nash recoiled in horror at the sight of it, still dribbling from her chest and neck. There had clearly been a struggle, and Charlotte had given a good fight before she succumbed.

Nash stood up, coughed to clear himself, and yelled for the others to come. Breakfast would have to wait. Not that he could eat anything now.

Moyank24 has been killed by traitors. It is now DAY TWO. Day two will end at 12:00am PST.

No he's like that in most of the games. From what ive read anyways, cause this is my first game.

Yes. And everybody lies. Except me. :D

First game for me too. Lot of n00bs in this game.

Avenge me!! And please send a letter off to my sweet Lucy, who was waiting for my arrival in Oregon and let her know I'll be a wee bit late.

:(

This really sucks, and you haven't really been around that much to talk to in this game. :(

John Benton (Astroboy) is hiding a dagger in his boot. I'd bet my last silver dollar that he's the traitor who burned down our homes and killed Charlotte (Moyank).

darn it.
we could have used some non-testosterone fueled common sense in the coming days.
If the Great Spirit let you stick around, Charlotte, we can set up a sweatlodge with this Lucy of yours and maybe you can connect one last time.
this is not something really sanctioned by my colleagues back east, but, alas! i've seen wonders down in the chickasaw territories. we might need the help from a medicine man when we get there. The Paiute and there Klamath are said to have powerful shamans still.

I chuckled. :p

There are some fairly hard-and-fast rules in this game:

(1) Everybody lies.
(2) Everybody who posts too much is a bad guy.
(3) Everybody who posts too infrequently is a bad guy.
(4) When Moyank24 is killed by bad guys early in the game, then either Don't Panic is a bad guy, or someone wants everyone to think Don't Panic is a bad guy. In this case, I suspect the latter.

But who would want to implicate Doc Panic? Someone else who has played with him before. And unfortunately, this game is full of n00bs who have never played before. ;)

Plutonius

I tend to agree with your assessment. One of those two, surely would go after mo (although she's one of the funnest players to have around, so it sucks when they kill her off...based on my extensive reading of previous games).

There are newcomers we don't know and have not lived long with; and there are others among whom we have lived for many a year, and know not who they truly are as life and circumstances have wrought great changes in them.

I am not one to say - like the men of the cloth - that sorrow, suffering and hardship can only serve to ennoble you; no, sometimes, other - less noble - nay, darker elements can serve equally, and, even those among whom we have dwelt for years can be altered by life's sometimes cruel hand.

While I regret the tragic death of the boy, Elijah Caldwell (twietee), - (well, a little) - for ale thieves do deserve their fate, especially those who drain the barrel - the appalling and wanton killing of Charlotte Adams (Moyank)…….is inexplicable. Reprehensible. She be a very sore loss indeed to our group.

I am pleased that in addition to my own - meagre supply - of uplifting spirits, which we have still, Doc Robinson Panic has been able to augment it with his own medicinal knowledge and insights; 'tis rare to find one with such knowledge of the customs and lore and learning of the Red Man, and rarer to find one who will share of his store of knowledge so freely.

(Great post, DP, and excellent narrative, QoS).

A splendid idea!! You may consider setting it up a fair way from camp, though. It's been ages since we've seen each other and our reunion is sure to be....spirited.

slow day.
i s'pose everyone is too busy dragging their boots along these endless ruts, maybe rethinking about that disgraceful sight this morning.
who would do such a thing? and why? our lot seems to be made up from equally disreputable old sags, apart for a couple of green kids from out east.
god knows enough of us won't make it to the Willamette Valley anyway, no point in lowering our chances even more.
gotta be something personal, but what? and who? could it be "aggie' Josiah? he hasn't been the same since the fire....

edit: tally:
astroboy: 2 (plutonius, koodauw)
plutonium: 1 (tomorrow)

You should know better. I would never kill off mo. Now you, on the other hand...:)

I do feel like the 12 hour days are a bit short, but with no one posting there isn't really a point in making them longer.

Mmhmm. Not a chatty bunch so far. This is why the days are shorter for now. That could change, based on participation. rick and I are flexible and will be clear about deadlines. Once a day is in progress, however, it will not change.

I'm suspicious of Plutonius for the reasons given previously. However, I'm all wondering about Koodauw (what kind of friggin' name is that?) for voting for Astro so soon after Plutonius (typical WW behavior to gang up on someone). And then I'm always suspicious of DP.

Well, not much to say here. The narratives are nothing related to the game, so the knife thing is obviously grasping at straws. At least there's a shiver of a reason to vote for Plutonius.

Pluto seemed pretty attainment about it. Trying to save your partner?
