Guys, I know I'm a newbie and its hard to take criticism from a newbie, but c'mon lets keep this discussion about wwdc and what we all want to see and have heard we will see....I'm still interested!
Thanks guys...

We're speculating about possible WWDC .mac updates. So, although it's not as dramatic as a G5 Powerbook, it's still on topic.

Is this a relative of yours Squire, or did you finally succeed in cloning yourself, my good friend? ;)

Right on both counts ~Shard~: J-Squire is my dwarf evil twin, cloned not too long ago. We'll be featured in the new Powerbook G5 commercials.

Now that's off-topic.

Seriously, though, I just sold my house and was hoping to pick up a Mac to replace my aging iMac. If this Intel thing happens, I won't know what to do. I hope it's just the tablet rumors coming to their fruition. That would give me a nice new toy.

Thanks for the info Squire, I appreciate it! And yah, I understand your dilemma - let's hope there's no difficult decision to be made for ya come Monday... Does your fate rest in Jobs' hands?

Well, first my wife, then Jobs. ;)

My guess is that Apple is going to try and duplicate its iPod success with another must-have product. Hopefully, that's all the Intel talk is. So, here's my guess:

1) new device-- smaller than a tablet, larger than a PDA-- based on intel XScale technology, used as an AirTunes remote and stripped-down OSX handheld.

2) PowerBook G5

3) Lots of Tiger/iTunes/iPod talk.

4) Updated iBooks on Tuesday basically matching today's PB specs.

Anyone Actually on the Ground in San Fran at WWDC.. Banners.. Pics??

It sure seems strange that we have not seen any of the usual pics of the venue.. at least the pics of the black covered banners.. are there any? I remember last year when they had the various 10.4 taunting banners aimed at MS.. I think they had them up by Sunday. So is anyone out there actually at the show and can you take a look.. post any pics of the venue at least .. or at least tell us if the posters or banners look to be there with black covers.. the lack of info is truly maddening..

No, my fate remains in the hand on Jesus. It's fun to follow this saga. At least we have less than 24 hours to find our future as its concerned with Apple.

Yep! And as I stated before (in another thread? Can''t keep them straight anymore...) it's a good thing Arn upgraded those servers when he did. I can only imagine what the load and activity will be tomorrow!

I imagine that arn will shut the forum down during the actual Keynote=, the same as with MWSF in January. Hopefully arn will offer the IRC chat and the real times update via MacRumors.

I would expect to see the low-bandwidth version up as well, just like last year.

talking about IRC: anybody knows the server/channelname etc. and perhaps a good IRC client for panther ? (me = lazy)

I really just can't believe there's been NOTHING leaked of any sort in the past few days. I'm just thinking back to last year when there was sooo much information flying around.

I suppose its a good thing though. Last year the rumors were "meh." At least this time it'll be "Oh wow! meh."

Has anybody talked about Asteroid being introduced at this thing? I remember hearing stories of it coming out at some point in 2005, so what's a better time for it than summer?

WWDC happens
-iPod update
-iBook update
-PowerBook G5/duel core G4
-One computer thats runs an intel( the rest of the mac are on PPC)
-New wigets, 10.4.2??? other small stuff

I remember waking up at 3am to follow the macrumors live update of WWDC last year and getting to the end and just thinking "man that was a waste of time......no iMac G5s!?", as the iMac G5 was the device rumoured to be released. We got 45 minutes of core image and core audio talk, and then 15 minutes on the new displays, and that was it.

I agree that we seem to be going into this keynote blind. I have never known a keynote where there was so little speculation/suggestion/confirmation about products that were going to be launched. We have heard pretty much nothing on the rumour side for the last 2 weeks or so, and now all we have is the infamous "Intel" rumour, which we really don't know too much about, other than there is a possibility that apple will do something with intel chips.

Its going to be either a keynote full of suprises, or a dead keynote that talks about developer stuff for the whole time.

my guess(hope)

WWDC
-updated ibooks
-Some portable device using intel(vpod?)
-dual processor powerbooks
-somthing big
-tiger 10.4.2

I'd say somthing like 3 of those will happen (hopefully)

Apple's lawsuit against Think Secret has successfully put the damper on specific rumors this year.

Although the really big rumor going around is the affiliation with Intel. We just don't have any specifics. Steve always makes his Keynote exciting, don't think that he will disappoint.

I agree (especially the 2nd one). Perhaps add podcast-supported iTunes.

I'd agree with you about updated iBooks and something big ... we'll just have to wait and see. Who knows what the discussions will be exactly 24 hours from now ... I can't wait

Will the keynote be streamed?

And if so, where could one watch it?

In the past, a live feed of WWDC has not been available. A complete copy of the Keynote will be made available on Apple's website shortly after it has concluded though, so you can watch it right there afterwards.

Yeah, get a chat client if you want to catch live updates.

Or just join us here on MacRumors - I'm sure Arn will shut down the Forums and bring up the low-bandwidth version of the site as he has before for live updates.

I certainly hope that will be the case. That's the way that I followed MWSF. arn has shut down the forum in the past due to heavy traffic. Hopefully arn will announce something in the morning. Once he closes the forum, then he will give directions to IRC and the low bandwidth site.
