But the banner doesn't make any sense. A year is a unit of time, a light year is a unit of distance. So, if one year later Apple is light years ahead, does that mean Apple discovered faster-than-light travel? That would be awesome.

I think what it shows is that marketing people are ignorant idiots, regardless of whether they work for Apple or not.

What exactly is a mac appstore? like the downloads section of the apple website? but via itunes?? i'm confused

Calm down. Someone mentioned that it would be cool to have an app store for macs, just like we do with the iPhone. It won't happen. Calm down.

I agree too that there is too much about the iPhone. Yeah, its a great product, but what about Macs (gosh darn it). :apple:

And I hope Snow Leopard makes it out before Windows 7 (just because).
As for any PeeCee folks here on the forum, get lost! (Still can't figure why PC people would even care to join a Mac forum, just to be a troll... I am not on a single Windows forum!)
I'm looking forward to Snow Leopard, not Windows 7 (the Mac OS X UI clone - yeah, it is - just not as good).

Not really?

It's essentially saying that in one year they have streaked light-years (distance) ahead of their competitors.

It's no different to saying "one year later, miles ahead"; they're emphasising the metaphorical distance they are in front of their competitors.

They're just using the play on words between "year" as a unit of time and "light year" as a unit of distance for marketing effect. There's no inaccuracy, apart from the obvious fact that they aren't "light-years ahead" of their competitors, but that's common marketing metaphor and hyperbole, and has nothing to do with the juxtaposition of "light years" (distance) with "year" (time).

Don't be so harsh on the guys, it's just a poster.

i really hope apple doesn't disappoint this time!! i really hope there's new hardware! not just iphone 3.0...Light years like "light years ahead of the competition!" I HOPE!! *crossing fingers*

This annoys me. Is this all what Apple is about these days? Their 2 year old phone? It that all they advertise?

I want the old Apple back where all the news was about the Mac. Screw the iPhone at WWDC.

i think and hope the iphone would be announced somewhere between 6 to 8 june....but i want to know when it will be released to market to be sold...i have a touchpro and i want to sell it and get the new iphone....but when this new iphone be realesed to market ?? if noone have any idea when it will be released ( i hope not the awfull rumor of july 17) .....what happened last year..what was the time between the past wwdc and the realese of iphone to market last year

Yeah alright!

seriously the iPhone is not going to change much, its looks are so simple, why make it more cluttered.

if anything they should get rid of the home button and make it touch sensitive like the PS3 power eject buttons.

Place your bets for time spent on iPhone 3.0 -v- 10.6.

I'll place my bet on a 70/30 split, in favour of the iPhone.

It would be really disappointing if they don't demo the under-the-hood changes with benchmarks or show off the new features. Expecting a price and a date too. Hoping for $99, but knowing Apple...

I kinda got over mac news when they dropped firewire from the macbook... *yawn* maybe they will put firewire 800 in the new model are redeem themselves...I'm hoping the bring back the black laptop...maybe a black aluminum. that'd be sweeet!

The iPhone has been updates last year, so it's only one year old. And we'll have a new one soon. So what is your point?

Will we ever see Mac apps on the App store I wonder? I'm sure iTunes could install them just as easily as iPhone apps.

Makes perfect sense, but I'm sticking by Apple discovering FTL Travel :D

On topic: Why aren't there any Mac-specific posters? But then again, we only saw one poster.

Even still, in the Phone arena they are Still light years behind Nokia in terms of sales and shipments.

Not really heard much hype about Snow Leopard, heard more about Windows 7 (that's shipping in October).

Do you think macs received changes to put them light years ahead of the competition

The iPhone spanks any single nokia model bangkok style, Apples mission is not to be the biggest but to be the best, right now the iPhone is the best all round phone on the planet

and in addition to the past question...which i reaaly need an answer or speculation....does the iphone when it get released in all world in same time or it differes from 1 country to another

Maybe they've invented a time machine. Oh, hold on, they've already done that one haven't they? Maybe they've improved Time Machine so that you can also roll forward, so you can recover files you've not even created yet? Here's hoping.

after the iphone dust settles (a 'will it blend' tribute ;)) you know what really really REALLY needs an update is FCP

...maybe Steve Jobs will come out right at the end and announce Baby Shaker 2 for iPhone...

...oh and Snow Leopard will be out on September 1st, but who CARES?! god I love more and more ****** iPhone apps! we need another BILLION!!
