Well the devices are still often charged using those cables... unless... wireless charging?! :D just kidding, but I did notice the need for cables will be reduced

well, i was thinking more of replacing the Apple-only-dockconnector with a universal chargingport or so, like europe law is demanding for phones and what not.

While I was a bit skeptical about how iCloud would work, I'm starting to think that Apple might be able to revolutionize things again... No, they may not be the first to implement cloud services, but they could very well make it a new standard (like the iPod, iTunes, etc.)

So is "icloud" something you can turn on and off (or even just say you only want to use certain features)? For one, for those paranoid out there, from what I understand (some one can correct me if I'm wrong) the government doesn't need warrants to search through info on a cloud, it's considered "public". Plus what if you plain simple don't want your documents on some one's servers which are a much bigger target for hackers than some individual computer (basically more chance a hacker will want into it. Same reason I don't like retailers keeping my credit card info... more places for hackers to get a chance to get access to it).

And if I want to use a document when I don't have internet access, is it still also stored on my computer or am I screwed?

I hope that you have the info on your computer too even if you do want to use icloud.

iCloud nice.. But I use mobileMe's features now. I store my websites on iDisk, and send files to the printers via the public disk folder.

I have three .Mac email addresses. I don't want to lose any of them :(

yes, really. Where you already logged in and had a cookie set? I wasn't.

Neither was I. Another web app. New window. MobileMe ain't down for me.

I hope there is a way to turn this off and it doesnt just automatically upload everything

I want to use my BB for other things not use my whole monthly limited on syncing large photos and documents

The photo stream is a copy of WP7's SkyDrive push when ever a pic is taken.
Beat me to it. Was there not a sync only version before they added storage online? I recall installing that version and syncing files across my iMac and Windows tower. It would pick the fastest method of transfer as well if you were all on Wi-Fi.

I hope we have the ability to turn cloud-syncing of apps off. I don't have the same apps on my iPad as I do on my iPhone. And since I have a data cap with Comcast I certainly don't want to be wasting precious bandwidth automatically downloading large apps (e.g. Riven ~1GB) to devices I'll never use it on.

So, if someone got my Apple ID and password, he could then just get a phone, sync it and get all the info on it just like that?

This is a good thing?

i'm sure it has to be associated wit ha device s/n as well or something like that for security purposes otherwise it is a huge vulnerability

that being said i don't care how secure they say they will be i'm not backing up my phone with all my contacts and other important/personal info to the Internet. i'll stick with the cable attached to my computer

you can bet hackers around the world are going to be having a whole lot of fun hacking into a free cloud service offered by apple that connects to all those iDevices.

My one problem with iCloud (other than the debatable borrowing of features from others) is that many/most of us don't own masses of iOS devices. I have a Macbook now, planning to upgrade to a new one when they are released. I don't see how the Cloud can be *that* useful for people like me...

Wait I'm also hoping you can determine what gets pushed to the cloud and what doesn't... I'm sort of sure there will be, but if there wasn't, it could be disastrous having all sorts of docs and stuff being shared to your devices if you only intended for them to be on one or something along those lines.

Come on, seriously? Doesn't the iPhone already have an iPod? Why do you gotta use another iPod?

Somone managed to escape from the Welshman then. cav23j go back to the flock.

Not everyone will follow blindly, especially when the best features are complete rip off's from other companies.

iCloud API. ;)

Our household has 2 iPhones and one iPad. They all have different apps on them. I wonder how iCloud will handle situations like this. I can't be the only only one with multiple iOS devices.:confused:

"Any music can be re-downloaded to any device for no additional charge."

Now this is good news too!

Good news would have been something like Spotify. Why would I want to buy music, when I can listen to almost everything and store encrypted copies for offline listening?

I never use my iPhone for music. I listen to my iPod in the car...how annoying is it to be listening to music and then a call or text comes in and interrupts. I'd rather have them separate.
