Waiting in Line

This Apple hype is getting so old, I mean when they released the original iPhone or the intel Macs, these were significant, now we are drooling over an OS update and a new Time Capsule? I think the Apple hype is starting to get a little dry. And some people are waiting in line for almost two days this?

Love Apple products, but they update things so frequently now always with minor changes i.e. thunderbolt, airplay, etc. , its hard to keep excited about anything anymore.

What's the betting my wife goes into labour during the event? :D

Only kidding, if it happens, baby comes first!

What you can do both ;) clamp, cut, pull nothing to it. oh those where not the good old days.

A Post-PC device should not need a PC to sync toailbreak it and install XBMC and you'

Prediction:

This stuff is going to be all about cutting the cord.

iCloud will be a sync service which allows all your devices share a common pool of files.

APIs will let developers use iCloud synchronisation for their stuff.

Windows PC users will need to spend less time in the morbidly obese Windows iTunes.

Just Happy Steve Is On

If he is feeling well enough to get on stage that at least gives us hope that maybe he is getting better. :D

Very interested to see if iCloud is a local cloud, a remote cloud (mainstream definition), or a combo. I am a "local" fan myself but I recognize a lot of folks want to be able to store their data "somewhere else".

Same as with any MS ".0" version (remember: don't install any MS product until SP1 is released).

Unfortunately that is true for a lot of software (from a lot of companies) these days ... but yes, the 'fans' (no matter from with company) see the potential and are patient enough until the initial problems are fixed.

An OS release spans every level of complexity from assembler firmware to the highest, most abstracted level of userspace. It has bugs. And an OS is many orders of magnitude more complex now than it was even 10 years ago, and there are many more millions (billions?) of people using them and discovering edge cases.

There are always bugs, and not everything can be anticipated in testing. People who can't live with this are a little mental and a lot unrealistic. They must live frustrating lives. People who do live with it are by no means "fanboys" of anything in particular. Some are, but most are just people with, you know, realistic expectations.

That's why it seems ridiculous that no one is anticipating new hardware today, I think the new iphone will be announced personally.

Actually Labor lasts a long time, go ahead and get the keynote in, unless her water breaks, then you might want to go to the hospital.

Why would they let someone photograph it...then cover it up?

The pictures are different. If you look at the covered one, there is no "1" on the wall next to it. The iCloud one has "1" on the side as in a hallway or doorway to somewhere. Same with the original picture will all three banners at once. This is a 4th banner.

Lion will be the same buggy piece of crap that every ".0" OS X software has been. The early adopter fanboys will rave and the rest us will have to wait for the inevitable patch that should have been part of the QA process. iCloud will be great alternative backup but foregoing local content in favor of streaming? You've got to be kidding! Smart phones can't even make a decent phone call and the wireless companies are salivating at the thought of an order of magnitude increase in billable data throughput. Although I am an exclusive Mac and Apple user I am actively searching for the company that will take Apple's old title of upstart and challenger of the status quo. Apple has become the pariah that MS was.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Haha

Oh, I tell you man. It's starting to get funny in here. I think the new macrumors logo should be that Lindsay lohan (or whatever her name is) picture that someone posted a few pages back. .

Ooooo just over an hour.

This is either going be meh or awesome. Apple aren't capable of anything else.

Yes, it would be great if he announced that he's now full-time again.

Why? He does a fantastic job with his part time job and still keeps pushing Apple in the right direction.

He should rather take it slow and take care of his health. What good would it be if he comes back half healthy and than has to take another leave in 6 month?

Yes, that's a stretchy as silly putty.

Valve is not attending E3, so I had a momentary lapse of sanity where I envisioned that Steve Jobs would announce that they were going to get "serious" about gaming on the mac, release a $1499 xMac with a powerful, expandable GPU, new OS X game development tools, and something that can compete with DirectX.

Valve would then demonstrate Half-Life 3 on the Mac for the very first time.

Then I came back to reality.

I just awoke from the HL Fanboy seizure, that your post threw me into. OMFGosh that would be pure WIN.

Of course you are right, but if he did come back it would simply mean that he's getting much better. And that would be a good thing.
