iOS 5
  • The obvious "improved notifcations"
  • iPhone 4 gets an Expose like app switcher
  • New API for apps to grab data and files from iCloud; there will be a public shared area for apps to share docs and each app will have it's own private area
  • Live updating of icons (think Weather apps)
  • Notifications, Events, Email on lock screen

All I care about are better notifications and better lock screen.

Seriously, calm down. This is exciting and all, but you're ruining it with all your arguing.

I know this is a stretch, but I really want Apple to take on a more serious role into the world of gaming.

Yes, that's a stretchy as silly putty.

Valve is not attending E3, so I had a momentary lapse of sanity where I envisioned that Steve Jobs would announce that they were going to get "serious" about gaming on the mac, release a $1499 xMac with a powerful, expandable GPU, new OS X game development tools, and something that can compete with DirectX.

Valve would then demonstrate Half-Life 3 on the Mac for the very first time.

Then I came back to reality.

Well said. My guess is that someone is a bit premmie if you ask me.

Even if I used Twitter, (which I don't) I wouldn't want integrated into my OS; I'm hoping they'll be an option to turn it off / install the iOS without twitter integration / a app, which can change to OS, like you download iBooks, only if you want it.

Lion will be the same buggy piece of crap that every ".0" OS X software has been. The early adopter fanboys will rave and the rest us will have to wait for the inevitable patch that should have been part of the QA process. iCloud will be great alternative backup but foregoing local content in favor of streaming? You've got to be kidding! Smart phones can't even make a decent phone call and the wireless companies are salivating at the thought of an order of magnitude increase in billable data throughput. Although I am an exclusive Mac and Apple user I am actively searching for the company that will take Apple's old title of upstart and challenger of the status quo. Apple has become the pariah that MS was.

OMFG!!! Enough already! Engadget IS NOT streaming the Keynote!

It's a typical bait-n-switch to get hits on their site. They streamed a dumbass video of two ****s waiting in line to get in the building.

I'm amazed at how dense the Apple population is at times. Really.

Same as with any MS ".0" version (remember: don't install any MS product until SP1 is released).

Unfortunately that is true for a lot of software (from a lot of companies) these days ... but yes, the 'fans' (no matter from with company) see the potential and are patient enough until the initial problems are fixed.

Apple really has done a good job of keeping iOS 5 hidden can't wait to see what goodies are coming to the iphone and ipad :D:D:D:D:D:D

This is outrageous!

Apple should be giving everyone free iPods for having to wait in such long lines. Come on, Apple! Don't you care about your customers or are you too busy lining your pockets. I'm done with this company!!!

</typical_reply>

I loled at this. It IS the typical reply!

I'm excited for Lion's OpenGL 3.2 support since not only does that mean I can start learning OpenGL 3.2, but according to threads and replies to those threads by Jack Greasley, a Mari version of Mac OS is built but waiting on OpenGL 3 support....hm.... :)

Would you like some cheese with that whine?
