Interested in the OS improvements, hoping some good innovation in this area. Hoping music hardware might get some loving, and have doubts about Apple TV cause being outside of the US, not likely to see it for many many years. Still waiting for Apple pay in Europe :(
Apple Pay, Apple Watch, iTunes Radio...
I personally think it would be a great feature to have and I'm not the only one, a few people have said the same thing. I know other tablets have that same feature but I don't like Windows and I hate Android. Don't forget this is all rumour it may not happen.

However I feel that multitasking is something that most of us do on a daily basis. For example I feel it would be a great feature to have while I'm writing a document and talking on Facebook with the group I'm working with.

Also as someone who is a university student and a writer, I often like to use the Internet for research while also writing. This feature in IOS 9 would be great but that doesn't mean everyone would use it, not everyone does use features that are added in IOS or OSX updates, it's all about how it suits you and fits into your lifestyle.

I agree that everyone has their own needs but that doesnt change the fact that this feature is nothing but gimick for those who dont know what else to ask for. On the iPad you can switch between app just by moving your 4 finger across the screen. The workflow on iOS is currently super fast if you know that multitouch gestures you currently have. By stucking multiple apps windows simultansly on the screen you dont resolver any problem. In fact, you create more problems both for users and developers. If you think Apple havent tried such feature multiple times you are dead wrong. They did, and they found the same flaws Im tring to explain to you. At the end it only looks cool, but improve nothing for the vast majority of users, and since the iPhone is made to suit the needs of hunder of milions of people simultansly, Apple cant add a feature for the seek of the minority that demand it and think is necessary.

I think that's why it's only a rumour as a feature in IOS 9 at this stage, however it has been said (and again a rumour) that the multitasking feature will be for the rumoured iPad Pro which will have a 12" screen and code was found in IOS 8 for such a feature. I never thought Apple would do a small iPad and they did (ie the iPad mini) so I'm not betting against it.

For the split screen topic, it's not likely for the iPhone but for the larger iPads only. It would be very useful to have it on the 12" iPad Pro as you want information to be dense, not full of whitespace. I honestly don't think Apple will release it this year or next year, there aren't any good useful use cases for this that the Macbook can't do better.

For examples as to why split screen on a large screen would be useful:

1. Content creators: Imagine using an app like Clips (Clipboard manager for iOS) on the side next to a word processor to copy/paste easily between multiple apps without having to do it manually. Swiping left and right is just inefficient and annoying.
2. Logging in: While 1Password and others are making this easy with their own app extension that other companies can add to their own app, not all apps will take the time to do this. Bank apps certainly won't. Imagine sliding 1Password into the side as a split app and dragging data like your username/password into the other app.

There are other uses but Apple wants things to be simple. If they can't find a smart way to make split screen that's simple to manage, they won't add it. The fact that split-screening is still in the code somewhere for a few years now, Apple is likely still experimenting with it.

For many widgets have been seen and are still seen as gimmicks, or third party keyboards, or many other things, yet they are there (and many people use them, while many people don't).

Many banking apps here in Australia are directly utilising touchID for authentication in a single step rather than app switching/ authenticate with 1password and then drag/ drop.

Here's one of mine:

That's not the same thing as logging in with the password. Yes, that's true that many bank apps will use Touch ID to store your password but you have to give it the password first before Touch ID can be used.

It's always funny when someone doesn't see a need for a certain feature in their own life and therefore beloved it should t exist and that no one else would use it.

iPad needs multi window and multi user support. Otherwise it's nothing more than a large iPhone.

Personally I'm hoping for Apple TV to maybe introduce a Stick variant. Ideal for bedrooms or those wanting to use less space, so you don't have to "mount" the puck to a rack on the back of your TV.

My Fire TV Stick was a fantastic purchase.

I'm glad to see that someone agrees with me, i personally think that multi window would be a great feature, granted not everyone would use it but that's the same for most features on every IOS update that's added features.

Personally i think Apple will release it, maybe not in IOS 9, maybe they will wait until the rumoured iPad Pro is ready. I read somewhere that code for multi window was in IOS 8 so it's at least there. I also read that it can take up 1/4 or 3/4 of the display, so maybe Apple will be giving us a choice.

I'm guessing we'll see the "9" banner today :D

Has Apple ever used this type of styling in their WWDC banners before? I don't think I ever seen it like this. I know they're just rounded icons rotated a bit. The colors and everything is unlike what they use in iOS/OS X.

They've used the basic style a few times :

Awesome, huge thanks for showing these. Someone just needs a better camera, it was the colors that threw me off, it was very light compared to previous years. After seeing the latest photos, it looks to be the same:

NEW THIS YEAR: iChairs. Just like regular chairs, but these ones can be personalized based on your sitting habits in over 100 ways.

I am excited for WWDC. This is the first time I own a major iPhone anticipating a new update. I wonder if it will be an update with UI enhancements, multi-window, better battery/power saving options, expanded features, etc? I would love a multi-window feature. If iOS 9 can let it work on a 6+ w/ 1 GB of RAM, talk about amazing, no?

Where the hell are iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 banners?

I think something funny is afoot.

Every year for the past 10 years Apple has had the small hanging banners in the entrance.

Not this year. The year the tagline is "The Epicenter of Change".

OS 11 perhaps ? Unified OS ? Or just plain old boring stuff.

There are several labs labeled TBA in the WWDC app. and a lot of them are for Frameworks.

Maybe something to do with the iPad Pro? i'm not expecting it because they usually announce iPads in October but it's a possibility, they do usually announce some hardware, usually Mac's, Apple TV or something but this year the Mac's have already been updated and the Apple TV is rumoured to be delayed.
