I think we might see less of an emphasis on version numbers this year, rather than lots of marketing for iOS 9 it might simply be the updated iOS, or latest iOS. I think the way OS updates are distributed now, free and over the air, leads to this. I don't think many people really care about versions numbers, just knowing that their device is up to date is perfectly fine.
I think the marketing from now on will be iDevices with iOS, Watches with watch OS and Macs with OS X. All with free updates for the lifetime of the device.
