OS X used to have handwriting recognition functionality called Ink. It was hidden until you attached a drawing pad to an OS X machine.

These new handwriting selection tools are great, but it would be even better if they could fix the bug that makes my Apple Pencil completely forget my iPad while I'm writing in the middle of a meeting. I have to reboot my iPad entirely to get it to work again. This happened across multiple iPads and multiple generations of Apple Pencil.
