They only added decent pointer and keyboard support to the operating system a few months ago.

Would bootcamp work with arm

I'd say no, because of the architecture incompatibility. x86 to Apple Silicon would require a recompile for Bootcamp, let alone emulation inside Bootcamp for x86. So Bootcamp may be getting the boot (pun intended).

Now virtualization may save you, but native may be the issue.

This is very like the 2006 presentation on the jump from Power PC to Intel with Steve announcing the demos they had done so far had been run on an intel mac.
