Can all this crap be disabled? Or am I going to have to go full luddite and stay on iOS 17 and Sonoma until this hype blows over?
Except for the ChatGPT account part, I have no problem as it all stays on device. If Apple provides support to load local models, it may not be bad as chatgpt.

So they can do all this but no MacOS on iPad? Yeah. We need to have a talk Tim. At least you brought Palworld and Valheim to Mac. And GPTK2. So I guess it’s alright
Why would you expect macOS on the iPad? They have repeatedly said they aren’t going to do it.

Apple-AI powered by Scarlett Johansson's voice.
I know Johansson credibly threatened to sue them to quit using her voice, but some part of me thinks, man if they paid a royalty on using my voice, and my voice became the primary voice the world hears narrating civilizations death spiral into cyberpunk dystopia, and that archeologists hear for generations as they study this moment in time, I'd probably get some kind of kick out of it.

iphone 15 pro or later? That’s cold Apple.

But happy because I have M1+ Macs (Studio, M2 mini) and an M1 ipad pro (phew, just made it!)

I'm not sure I understand the the wall between Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT. They made Apple Intelligence seem like it can do things you would normally do with GPT, so what's the razor there?
I’m still a quite confused as to how all this will be surfaced from a UI standpoint. Toolbars and menus or will a lot of it be hidden behind long press? And is Siri deciding when it offers up ChatGPT or will it always be an option?

I haven't posted on here in years (ever since Macrumors became iphonerumors) but I gotta say that I love keynotes because the comments are pure gold. Keep it up people!

And also, the star of the show is clearly the pants!

Linguists are going to have a field day researching how LLM usage is affecting language. Imagine what will happen when what we are reading is partly generated by AI.
You are already in Matrix, a lot of content you are reading today is AI-enhanced or generated. Grammarly had gen AI for a while now. Most of the editors have used it professionally.

I've been a huge Apple fan for decades and upgrade my iPhone and tech almost every year. The only really cool feature that stood out was the note-taking and calculator features. Everything else felt very lackluster. Apple needs to bring back the "one more thing" moments, they are currently playing catch-up.
