I was begging Apple to take my money with a new iPhone this fall and get me geeked up about iOS 18. They have failed. I want to hold onto my iPhone XS now and hopes that Apple at least pushes security updates for a couple years to it.

Yeah not seeing the big improvement in Siri. Skeptical on that. Did see the lighting around the sides to make it look updated.

I am so confused on this Apple ai thing. So my smart assistance (home pod) can’t even access of device Siri improvements? Same goes for my 4,5k€ 27inch iMac (final intel model) that has not even seen a true replacement in the lineup yet? You need a iPhone 15 pro to use this?
I guess my iPad Pro m1 will allow me to play a bit, but with the latest iPad jumping to m4 for the bigger neural engine I assume there’s going to be tones of restrictions?
I mean they barely had any news beyond this so they got to gatekeep to sell new product but this is just as bad as keeping the new old new option to pinch 🤏 from Apple Watchs bellow 9. Are we all supposed to replace every homepod with a new Lineup soon or what? “Replace our crappy smart assistant by spending another 100-800€ on getting a new one that otherwise dos exactly the same. We are climate neutral. lol

The thing is I don't WANT this stuff. They're shoving it down our throats. I'm in a Discord right now with a bunch of tech nerds like myself and we're all railing about how stupid this is. This **** isn't popular. Wall street wants this, not real power users.
Other than text to Siri hardly anything they showed on screen was just typing into a blank box. Seemed more purposeful.

I think it’s a good focus area since it’s a big concern for a lot of people. The reaction to Microsoft Recall was largely negative.
I guess I’m just whelmed. Some of the AI stuff seems nice, but I worry about how this will affect natural creativity by users?

Benjamin Mayo from 9to5 Mac makes a good point. Lots of stuff that will take a while to digest.
Most of the improvements for Siri are on-device models, that will be restricted to a few models of Macs ,iPhones, iPads. I wouldn't want confidential data to leave my device into Siri cloud. Its the price you pay for on device inference.
I'm getting old, I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of info that came out today and how fast it was coming.
Yeah I felt like what it was replaced with was too good. Sure, clean up someone’s scribble but don’t turn it into detailed fake artwork.
