well traditionally water ripples have symbolically meant "one thing leading to another" or "one thing that influences everything else" so with that in mind one could conclude that iOS6 is the result of the proverbial "pebble in the pond" and everything will be influences by it.

so cool, that's really iOS in mobile.

Darn, it must have been an update to 2. Either way the version that came with my phone sucked and I'd be shocked if the iphone had a good reputation for stability if they hadn't fixed it (seriously, safari would crash at least two times every time I used it).

Still, I was kinda hoping I was remembering right cause at least it would show that Apple has been willing to release iOS after the phone (mainly cause while I do believe the phone will be out in fall sometime I would totally love a June/July release).

I had an iPod touch at the time (1st gen) and iPhone OS 2.0 was the one that had a very crashy Safari.

Like you said it was literally crashing every 5 minutes or so. I remember how 2.0.1, 2.0.2 and then 2.1 supposedly fixed this, but in my case it didn't. I remember things improving vastly with 2.2, but it wasn't until 2.2.1 that it really felt stable.

Nowadays I don't remember seeing Safari crashing even once on my iPhone 4S, and I use it quite a lot. (I say I don't remember, it may have happened once or twice, but it's still night and day compared to 2.0.x and 2.1)

Water in the background? Am I the only one seeing the submerged 6 with a periscope sticking out?

Must mean something...
I see the submerged '6' more like an iceberg. They've already said their core apps are being rebuilt from the ground up...so like an iceberg, you see a little update at the surface (redesigned icons maybe?) but the main part of the update will be underneath the surface (totally redesigned app).

Isn't it entirely plausible that Apple keep the 960x640 resolution but make the pixels ever so slightly bigger for the bigger screen size?

That way they wont have to tell us anything on Monday as apps will be just the same.

Hmm, dunno, looking forward to Monday though! It's just a pain having to wait till 9PM (UK time) before the keynote gets put up on the website.

:apple:

lol at those people over-analyzing an icon shape ... it has ripples .. it probably got a revolutionary vibrator feature too

I bet that sounded better at the time you wrote it, lol.

Ah, we all do it. Joke sounds good in your head at the time, but is rotten in text.

Please know before you read this, I'm not trying to bust your balls, just trying to inform you, please try to read this with a hint of sarcasm.

People that like to make things for your entertainment... ie me
Apps, Videos, music, VIDEO GAMES! This web site. Are created on Mac Pros or other powerful computers.

I don't agree with the statement "everything you need to do can be done on an iPad, anything else is pointless" That is just a statement that people use to make themselves feel better about the product in which they bought. :p Also it goes against what I already stated, How am I to create quality entertainment on the iPad? You can't even make apps for the thing on it, you need a computer! I'm not saying that I'm the best at creating entertainment, but the people who do, with out them, the iPad would be nothing. Please don't come back and say, oh they don't count, there just a small amount of people, ok fine give them iPads, destroy every last computer, There would be no entertainment what so ever. Also if the world was replaced by iPads, it wouldn't just effect entertainment, Businesses too. Want to know why businesses love the iPad, GoToMyPc.com, there just using the darn thing to get to there computers.

SERVERS! this website and all that you encounter are hosted on GAINT SERVERS! Lets go and replace them with iPads :) Lets see how long that will last with the 640KB of ram (it's actually 1GB now, thought you should know). Lets she an app that can do that. Wait no, theres not an App for that...

Now we go to the Data centers! God help us. No internet with all iPads for this Tablet era.

Think different, don't go with the flow bedifferent (I hope you liked the irony there)

FYI iPads are PCs (personal computers, Last time I checked there for personal use and it is a computer) So were not leaving the era anytime soon. You know what if this really was going to happen, that the great thing about an era, like the 70s they fade. Computers will come back.

This post was a little extreme but generally I agree. iPads are devices for CONSUMPTION. However getting to your media easier is part of that. I think smarter universal search integrated into apps would solve that.

----------

You know they didn't throw rippling water behind the 6 without intention. Come on its Apple. I think it subtly creates momentum. First water drops in iOS 5 then drops on water in the iPad wallpaper and now water with ripples.

iOS7 = hurricane

either the "new iPhone" does not change much or the iOS6 will give something away in advance and they might as well just announce the phone. like if the screen size changes, wouldnt they have to announce that in advance other wise the iOS6 beta will be pointless

e. g.

hey devs we gave you the iOS6 beta a few months ago to adjust your apps but LOL what we didnt tell you is that the screen size is gonna be different, so you have to do it all over again

Only post out of this whole thread that addresses the main point. If the new iPhone had a screen size change, how can they NOT addresses it when they talk about ios6?

And how can beta testers test an OS that doesn't fit the dimensions of the existing phone's screen?

That sir, is actually a very good point.

Well made.

The new os obviously will run even on 4s and 4, so they can easly test it. Its not sure that if there will be a bigger screen, they will change the aspect ratio or screen resolution (and if its only screen res its the same with 3gs to 4)

If the screen is taller as we are led to believe, then there would surely be another row of apps? I don't believe Apple will have 'bars' above and below the content for parts of the larger screen not being used.

I can only hope that iOS6 will allow us to snooze reminders from the lock screen!

The option of "view" or "close" is just outdated!

Think iPad, you didn't have an iPad to test on, it was a virtual OS.

I think some people have to much time on their hands reading this much into a logo

iOS6 needs to have widgets. A homescreen of just squares is too boring and limiting.

For sure. It's pathetic in this day and age. I want at a glance the weather, clander, new subscribed podcasts, music, rss feeds etc.

There's really no excuse to dismiss it with a major update.

And some people clearly have too much time on their hands if they can log onto a forum to tell people reading too much into a logo that they have too much time reading into a logo ...

;)

hmm water ripples, now where have i seen those lately.......... does the new iphone come in pebble blue?
