Is that the iOS world? They are going to let developers have more access to the OS? Doubtful.

I don't think you were paying attention to previous WWDC keynotes.

Each year, with every single major iOS release since 2.0, Apple has open more and more OS-level stuff to developers through hundreds of new APIs.

It would be so AMAZING if someone streamed live from over there

Apple confirmed there will be a live stream of the keynote. You'll be able to watch it via Safari on a Mac or via the Apple Events channel on an Apple TV.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense.. If the product is basically a Mac running a fresh take on Front Row on top of OS X it might as well run on any Mac – and the other way round would end up as the worst of both worlds.

I agree, this is just going back to what, 2005/2006? Back when Front Row was the computer version of the AppleTV interface. I kind of liked it, but also hated it because it was too easy to activate!

I think it would be nice for Apple to bring this functionality back to the Mac, then it would also incorporate AirPlay between Macs and iOS devices to the Mac without relying on third party apps. (side note: hulu+ is dumb on the apple tv, anyone with a mac can just stream hulu to their tv over airplay, so why not just make the app normal hulu #fail)

What is it about WWDC that brings out all the ARM crazies?

Between you, me, and the lamp post... I'm more of a torso person.

I hope the OS X redesign is more legible than the signage.

My predictions:

-Unaffordable Apple Retina Display
-iOS 8 with side-by-side multitasking for the iPad, better inter-app communication, and QuickReply (w/API). Siri and TouchID API for developers. No significant changes in UI.
-OS X Yosemite with a Helvetica-infused iOS-style redesign (although not as drastic), awful icons, and maybe Siri if we're lucky.
-The home platform rumor, with extensive integration in 10.10 and iOS 8.

No new Macs.

Too good to be true.

Apple Solar Cell Patents

Apple filed for a Power management circuitry and solar cells application #US 12/186,306 on August 5, 2008. Apple has 2 patents that were published to cover this application, US Patent 8022571 published September 20, 2011 and US Patent 20100013309 published January 21, 2010. In addition to the power management circuitry and solar cells application Apple also owns the integrated touch sensor and solar assembly patent that was filed on September 30, 2008 and issued on April 1, 2010. The integrated touch sensor and solar assembly patent # is US Patent 20100079387.

These patents together shed light on the solar cell design within Apple’s devices and as well as how Apple plans to utilize solar cell energy to perform a variety of charging methods for their portable devices. The power management options that Apple has invented are simply breathtaking and are powered by a “Mother Brain” that controls the circuitry and decides what needs to be charged, powered or regulated. The solar assembly patent throws traditional solar charging methods out the window because Apple has invented a way to ignore the surface area limitations that arise while solar charging a portable device.

"Write the code. Change the world"

Sounds like Apple is going to announce their point-n-click app creator... the iBooks Author of apps. :)

That's what I thought (and are hoping for) Either that or an iOS version of XCode.

Can we get back to "Insanely Great"?

Would love to have Tim pull a "One More Thing" and then blow our minds with what we've been waiting for instead of continuing the incremental updates that always fall a little short.

I agree, if they are going to pull the trigger on the iWatch announcement, they better do it now and put programmers to work. Samsung already tried twice and only came up with crap, they are so far behind the curve it is laughable. People want to see the future with amazing "quantified self" technology. We're ready!

What i said is still true, none of your suggestions can be done without doing any of the stuff i wrote in my original post.

Could be done with XPC process separation, as the only talk between processes is data not code so instruction set is irrelevant. Then have Fat Binary per process with a minimal kernal to run the process. Each core of the processor could be treated as separate process machine. A process coordinator takes care dispatching processes reading the flags the compiler has left as process requirements, much like GCD does now with different GPU cores.

One core would need to run a larger fuller environment to handle UI interaction and to collect and compose the all the views being streamed back to be displayed on the screen. So basically "Cocoa Terminal" that runs on the ARM processor.

All of which is just a step up from what they do now and seems to follow the trends they have been pushing developers in for the last few releases any way.

They're gonna have to put a decent amount of ram into their iPads for Xcode. I hope that happens though. The ram in current models is way too low.

Not necessarily, they could just have the Xcode text editor, with iCloud syncing, so you could get work done there but could do the actual compiling and art/UI design on a computer.

Touchscreen iMac and/or touchscreen air

That will NEVER happen.

This is exciting!

I'm willing to bet though, that "Write the code. Change the world" doesn't refer to iOS or OS X, instead it refers to a new line of software being announced, where devs will be able to code for it.

I think we will see home automation or a TV judging by the pixels, which will be due out around Christmas time or so.

Could also relate to an overhaul of Objective-C. They removed so much boilerplate out of the the language that all you have to do is "write the code".

Thanks. Now I'm gonna have to keep reminding myself how many days to go before it happens.

'Write the code'

So no hardware at all... :(

"Change the world"

I take that to be indicative of the code having an influence on the real world - ie something to do with either the rumored home automation or beacon or wearables.
