I have to assume that if Apple is actually broadcasting the Keynote to Apple Retail Stores, that it must be available as a Quicktime Stream. I mean... why not? Everything is already in place for that to happen.

Wishful thinking: Perhaps EVERY rumour we've heard since MacWorld is actually true! It *is* a two-hour long Keynote, my friends. My hopes are high. ;)

Wishful thinking is nice. But if that were true those new iPods would have been released several times over during the months of February and March.

Next Tuesday. No, next Tuesday! No, wait... NEXT Tuesday!!!

No live stream necessarily

The music event was broadcast to Apple Stores but still did not have a live web stream. The video was available online only later.

[EDIT: the music event isn't the one I'm thinking of I don't think... what was there recently that only had a stream afterwards?]

Also, re announce dates vs. ship dates... IF anything about the 970 is made public in the keynote (rather than being discussed only in NDA sessions), and then the 970s ship in the fall, the worst we can blame Apple for is announcing them too soon.

If they are unable to get enough 970s on hand until fall, there's not much they can do about it. That's what we--and they--will have to survive. I think most of us can make it!

riiiight. however, for some strange reason it was available via msnbc stream. its was completely crappy and went down after watching 20 mins... but i still got to see the ipods introduced!

wasn't there a quiktime link... it just wasn't working? i hope Apple gets their ****e together and makes it work.

we needs to see this!

i am sooo tempted to take the 8 hour drive to minneapolis to watch it in the Apple store (the closest to Winnipeg).

ONE WEEK UNTIL WE FIND OUT!!!

June 23rd News Headlines:

Jobs at WWDC: "Panther OS X v10.3 Shipping Immediately, in a Really Big Box"

:)

(Note that this is only a poor attempt at humor. Panther will most certainly NOT ship next week.)

sat. info?

So the WWDC keynote will be shown at various Apple Stores. I am assuking that these stores will pick up the keynote via satellite. So if it is being beamed down through the ether from orbit, and the stream is not digitally encrypted.... then anyone with a C-band or Ku--band satellite and receiver can pick up the keynote feed. The last few MW keynotes have had both C and KU band feeds (no digital or encryption). The dish here at work has actually been put to use for a change in wtaching these. Does anyone have any information regarding what satellite and transponder the keynote will be broadcast on?

Bring yoiur credit card!

Apple said:

Come watch the Keynote speach in our stores.

Not said:

Bring your credit card!

There is going to be something for you to spend your money on and it's probably going to be sufficiently exciting for you to reach for your wallet.

What would really get everyone going is if a FedEx truck pulled up to the stores just as Steve finishes talking and started unloading some boxes . . .

What other thing did you expect an Apple employee to say? "Oh, yes, we're definitely going to disappoint our customers this time! Don't waste your time on our announcements, they'll be crap!"

You know, there is some middle ground between "It's going to completely suck" and "It will be better than sex". The Apple QT guy wouldn't have made such a strong positive statement if he didn't know something to back it up. That was my point.

Lining up for SoHo store?

I'm in New York and I plan to go to the SoHo store to watch this thing. When should I plan on getting there? I don't have much else to do, so I could just go early and wait, but I don't think I want to wake up really early (like before 7). Has anybody here been to previous in store shows like this? Any suggestions on how early to get there?
It looks like it's going to start 1:00 EST, so maybe I'll just go when I wake up and see how big the crowd is when I get there.
I'm not even going to buy one of these things and time soon, but it sure is exciting.

1 Hour early

I'll probably try to be at the Willow Bend store about an hour early (11 AM CDT), if there's people jockeying for seat's I'll, hopefully, get to sit down. Otherwise it'll give me time to finally play with Final Cut Pro 4! (insert drool smilie here)

Definately need to leave the credit cards at home that morning!

Gee. I wonder what's in that pallet?

What's in that pallet at my local Apple Store?

The pallet is marked: DO NOT OPEN UNTIL JUNE 23.

Uh-oh, I wasn't supposed to see that...

willow bend is deffinately showing it 'eh? I'm gonna call them to check... I wanna go, but dont wanna drive from Tulsa to Plano for nothing ya know.

ok, I called the willow bend store and they are gonna show it in their theatre. now I just got one major factor keeping me away... transportation. I can get down there, but no way back... and that's a long drive le me tell ya, but I dont have a car... so I'm screwed. unless someone else from the Tulsa area is going, then I could go half on gas. :p

I got an email (1:41 PM Central) from my local Apple Store that Steve's Keynote address will be televised to the store.
-
Afterwards, we shall know what is in that pallet.

I'm guessing: Panther.

I'm gonna say a great big "No" to that one. There's no way they are releasing Panther without even seeding it to developers/testers first.

It's got to be hardware.

You are correct. That's why Apple calls it a PREVIEW! I just got an email this morning from Apple saying they're giving every WWDC attendee a preview copy of 10.3.

Key word: preview. :D
