Just confirmed that the Bellvue, WA store will have it on a QT stream (no theatre). Wonder if that means there will be an internet stream for the rest of us? If not, looks like I'll go there.

Unless I have to work. :(

Wow, what other kinds of strange things are happening in the sphere of computing IN BIZARRO WORLD? So, Premiere is attracting SO many people to PCs, cuz it ROCKS and stuff? Wacky.

See, here in the real world, the OPPOSITE of that is happening -- crazy, eh? Yeah, in our world, FCP has pretty much risen to the top of inexpensive yet professional video editing systems.

He is right about 3D workshops, etc. Thanks to the laggard upgrade path of Moto almost all companies doing 3d (including Pixar) have gone on to use Intel's chips.

Hopefully over time Apple will regain some of this market; those that left won't return overnight, if at all.

Apple really needs to give PRO users PRO expandability, and PRO PERFORMANCE, as well as a more competitive price. :(

Apple has one bulldog of a chip in the 970 (please don't choke it with a poodle's collar) Ex A Moto G4 with under 200Mhz bus speed.

I'll try my best to be at an Apple store for the transmission, and bring a carton of eggs, or two in case we were led on. (I don't break things like most nuts, but I can make quite the mess.

"We Will Delight Crowds"

I like the fact that in the Looprumors piece, they claim Apple has been "internally" replacing the WWDC acronym with the phrase "We Will Delight Crowds".

Yummy. :D:D:D

You've never been to either?

Here's the skinny on Chicago's Apple Stores:
Woodfield - First opened, big, has theater, showed the MWSF Keynote live (so I have every reason to believe they'll show the WWDC keynote, too)
Oakbrook - Opened about six/seven months ago, small (it's exactly like the quote-unquote redesign LoopRumors is talking about), no theather
Mag Mile - Should open in about two weeks from what I've heard. It's supposed to be like SoHo.

I'll be at Woodfield covering the Keynote for MacUnderground. Hope to see you there.

That's not a store redesign -- the Towson, MD Apple Store has always looked like that, and its been open for months now. Scratch Looperumors as being even remotely believable for any Mac rumor in the future. Not that I check any rumor sites other than this one, and sometimes Thinksecret.

nickgold, do you know if the Towson store will broadcast? I think I might call them. Also I go to school in Arlington and there's a Apple store right up the road. I'll look into them.

Please one of them better broadcast and if not there better be a live internet stream for the rest of us.

anyone in the south, i was wondering if this store in atlanta is showing it...anyone wanna meet up if they are?

Given people will stand in line early, get a seat, and then wait through 2 hours of keynote, can you imagine the run on the bathrooms afterwards?

I know there was talk about the Chestnut Hill store, but what about the Apple store in the Cambridge Side Galleria in Boston? Does anybody know if they are going to be broadcasting the even there? If they are I might just have a reason to trudge through the traffic in the morning.

Gonna be a bit off topic...

I just got done talking to my mom, who was talking to an Apple rep at a CompUSA store. I told her to ask him if anything new was coming at the end of the month. The rep laughed and said something to the effect that the rumor sites are pretty accurate at whats coming out. I think he gave a reference to macosrumors.com, but I'm not too sure.

So I'm now hyped up on this PPC970 thing for sure. I'm believe Apple will deliver these, but they might be a few months off.

Not necessarily, if Steve really delivers the goods, most people will already have peed their pants by the end of the show.

Now that would be a smelly keynote! :D

I talked to an employee at the South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, California) Apple Store today, and she said they plan on showing the Keynote in the theater via satellite. They've done this several times there already, such as MWSF and the recent Apple Music one.

If they show the keynote at Apple stores (perhaps only) AND they are making changes at Apple stores ....
perhaps after the keynote they will pull the tarp back and and you can pick up a fresh new PowerMac G5.

Just a thought :)

I was wandering the Michigan Avenue area in Chicago today.

The Apple rep at the very nice Comp USA on Chicago Ave, about 2 blocks W of Michigan Ave. and about 5-6 blocks from the new flagship Apple store, admitted he wouldn't know anything ahead of June 23rd.

Being at the CompUSA with the Apple rep is like being in an alternate universe from the bad old days of Apples at Best Buy and Sears. It was the Vaio laptops missing some keys, the Compaq with the trashed applications, the HP turned off completely. Meanwhile, the Apple machines are running their demos and the rep is backed up by a couple of CompUSA employees who actually know something about Apple. My only complaint is that the locking mechanism they have on the iBooks and PowerBooks makes it impossible to adjust the screen position or show someone how light they are compared to the PeeCees.

The Apple Store on Michigan Avenue is very nearly finished. Signs already hang from the ceiling. The signs clearly identify a section as containing "Pro" gear. The Michigan Ave. store has the glass staircase in the middle like the SOHO store. It's opening on the 27th. See you there!

For the record, I mentioned the Dallas Infomart Apple office theater requiring reservations in tha past, not the Apple Store. (The Apple office there is not a "store", it's a business office - I think for salespeople mainly)

Not to kill your hope about the 970s, but...

I can guarantee you that the Apple Reps at CompUSA do not have any pre-knowledge about what's going to be announced. They'll learn if/when they have a conference call before the announcement.

Of the CompUSA reps I know, none of them even read rumor sites. I worked at CompUSA and the Apple Rep there and I will occassionally have discussions about what's coming up, but I have to clue him in on what rumors are floating around.

I would assume the same thing about Apple Store sales associates as well. They'll learn when the products arrive, unless they're wrapped and covered.

Realize that Apple works very hard to prevent new product information from leaking out, so informing a CompUSA sales rep is a bad idea. Not that any of them would intentionally leak anything (Apple would hope), but why entrust someone with key information if they can't do anything about it. Their job is to sell you what product they have on the shelf, not defer your purchase until the next generation PowerMac comes out.

I'm still amazed when I see stories of sales reps who tell customers to "wait until Tuesday..." before buying anything. I guess those folks aren't making any sales bonuses.

And to think, the keynote is on Monday, so in theory, there'll be now PowerMac introduction, only an xServe since Apple only announces xServe and Software products on Mondays. J/K :p

Rumors You Can Bet On
When I was at the Apple Store in Towson, MD a couple weeks ago I asked one of the reps about the new 15" Powerbooks and he said he wish he knew but had no clue. That they were completely in the dark about things.

(not for long though, then we'll all know :D )

Rumors You Can Bet On

I don't think that's entirely true. Of the two reps that I've known at my local CompUSA, both of them are just that: Apple reps, not CompUSA employees who are apple experts. Both of these guys work for Apple Corporate. The first of the two, who no longer works at CompUSA, told me, after one MW Keynote, that he knew prior to the Keynote what wold be coming out. He had also been to several of the rumors sites because he talked about the rumored upgrade of the iMac prior to it's present incarnation. He didn't give away anything about the release or anything, he just talked about the rumors themselves. The current rep, was once asked by a customer about the rumored 30" Cinema Display that Apple was supposedly working on.
The customer said, "I've heard rumors that Apple is working on a 30" Cinema Display.", to which the rep replied with a smile,
"I've heard those rumors too."

Oh for those that live in Upstate New York, I called the Apple Store at the Galleria Mall in Buffalo today and they confirmed that they will be carrying the WWDC keynote broadcast.

I'm not saying they work for CompUSA, the Apple reps in CompUSA are bonafide Apple employees.

I'm sure that some of the Reps read rumor sites, my local one knows about the rumors from either me or other customers.

I question how far in advance he knew. I know for MWNY last year, the local rep had a (I wanna say) 8 a.m. conference call where they told the reps what was going to be announced.

It depends upon what it is. Final Cut 4? They knew a couple of weeks ahead when it was going to ship.

PowerMacs with 970s, I'll wager they know as much as I do.

article clarified. These weren't meant to be considered complete store redesigns... simply product-display changes.

Actually, remembering a previous highly anticipated event, that Apple actually came out and denied there were going to be any hardware announcements to avoid the raging disappointment that had happened before; I would guess that Apple will have to either comment beforehand, or announce the 970s at WWDC. There isn't much wiggle room betwee those two choices.
