will it be accessible for everybody, or only some "chosen" people ?
I hope it will be for everybody. even if the apple servers will be overloaded during the keynote ;-)

anyone know if any of the Texas Apple Stores will be showing the keynote? maybe the St. Louis store? reason I ask is because I'm in Oklahoma and kinda in the middle of there, but really want to go see the keynote if it's not broadcasted on the web.

so, anyone know?

I still say new Apple Pro Keyboard and Apple Pro Mouse.

OK. So obviously no one is doubting the fact that MacWorld actually interviewed this high-level Apple employee, right? And that Apple employee is probably somewhat aware of what "people" are "expecting", right? That in itself is enough to convince me that they are at least demoing 970s and announcing availability in a reasonably short time.

What other thing did you expect an Apple employee to say? "Oh, yes, we're definitely going to disappoint our customers this time! Don't waste your time on our announcements, they'll be crap!"

Hype created by the rumor community is one thing (remember the G5?), but THIS is mega hype created by our favourite computer and software company, so they had better put performance where their mouth is.

(And, sorry for spelling "their" "their".)

Just *Maybe* WWDC keynote has been extended simply bcs there will be lots to demo in Pather? Its not necessarily due to spanking new 64bit hardware.

As for those boxes... hmmm....:D

ONE WEEK UNTIL WE FIND OUT!!!

This hype has been created by IBM's many press releases and interest from the rumor community. I don't see how Apple has created any mega hype, except for Panther.

I agree. I want a look at Panther. Is it faster than Jaguar, or is it just another incremental bug-fix?

I can't afford new hardware, but it would be nice to see something new. Maybe Steve can compare Apples to Apples, new vs old.
=-=
Store improvements:
- How about a rack of user installable parts such as PCI cards, RAM chips and Hard drives for older computers such as my QuickSilver and my beige PowerMac.
- How about a shelf of OS Installer CD's for older PowerMac's. Have you tried to find an OS 9.1 Universal Installer CD?

Of course it will be streamed

Apple is making a major leap in it's hardware and software line. Do you really think this won't be streamed to the public? Get real. They want to sell the things. Like everything, apple goes for the dramatic. It will be available.

I AM A mAC USER AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

I lend my ibook to my girlfriend, yes, again, on friday and then i used the stoooooooopid pc to make a stock trade , guess what, the thing just collpsed, froze, and i ended up loosing money.

The pc world can go to hell as far as i am concerned.

I will be buying a new Mac!!!!!Hopefully a 970 , but at this stage, i don't care as long as it has a bitten apple that i can see:D

Apple talks about Panther and a few software apps = People will be pissed that they never talked about 970s.

Apple talks about 970s running Panther, but don't show them or go into detail = People will be pissed that they never showed the 970 or didn't go into enough detail.

Apple shows the 970 and it has the same case as the current tower = People will be pissed that they didn't have a new case for a new processor machine.

Apple shows the 970, running Panther, with a new case, but it's (the 970)not shipping until Panther ships in September = People will be pissed that they have to wait a while to buy a new machine (as if there is anything wrong with the current ones).

Apple shows the 970 running Panther in a new case design, and announces that they are shipping immediately = People will be pissed because they get a whole lot more machine, but Apple didn't reduce the price!

Apple shows the 970 running Panther with a new case design, they are available for purchase RIGHT NOW for $200 less than current machines = People are pissed at Apple cause they STILL aren't as fast as the fastest PC!

Will it ever end????

Don't forget the powerbooks :)

There's an Apple Specialist in OKC that will probably downlink the stream if there is a satellite broadcast.

article clarified. These weren't meant to be considered complete store redesigns... simply product-display changes.

Maybe Apple is going to set up a Window XP box showing iTunes for Widows.

I'm also one of those who have no money for new hardware (I just put some money on a 15gb ipod though). I'm also still very happy with my g4/733 and it'll still be fine for a couple of years from now (I still use my old performa 6400/180!).

What I'm waiting from OSX (probably not from Panther though) is that the interface would be a bit snappier.. I had to boot to MacOS9 today, and opening windows etc felt so fast! I want some of that included in X.. Otherwise I'm already very happy with Jaguar.

What comes to hardware releases, I'm waiting for them pretty much only because I get that "oh but macs are so slooow" talk all the time. and people thinking that way will definitely not be switching.. and because they're not switching, I'll still be having only one (yes, only one) friend with a Mac and who lives in the same country ;)

Bravo ! ! ! !

etc...etc...etc...

MacGizmo, that is wildly brilliant! You've just cheered me up for the rest of 2003.

Best,
Logicat

I really wish the wwdc was kept tomorrow and not after a week.. they make people wait for too long!

I for one (and I don't think I'm the only one) check this site more than once an hour if I'm on comp.. that's sick!

I still won't be disappointed of anything unless there's nothing else than Panther demoed.. and I'm pretty sure they have something else as well.

uhh only 8 more days (a bit less actually:))!!

Tjena!

As a recent (about a week =P) switcher (the iBook listed below is my first mac), I'm a bit curious about how much RAM you have in your g4/733, and what GFX card you are using. I'm saying this because I expected some clunkiness coming from XP after all the complaints I had heard in that regard about OS X. However, after getting my 'book, I can just say that I find OS X to be very snappy and overall responsive - this coming from a longtime XP user on a relatively fast PC. Sure, XP is very snappy (and pretty stable - good os overall), but I really don't find the difference between XP and OS X to be very substantial.

Apple didn't have a live web stream of the music event, which was also big. But they DID offer a stream later. We can at least expect that.

Oh--and a grilled cheese sounds fine to me!

[EDIT: the music event isn't the one I'm thinking of I don't think... what was there recently that only had a stream afterwards?]

I agree - it's all relative.

Windows open faster in OS 9 = True.

But, the actual logical navigation is SO much slower than OS X (think column view, no multiple windows) that the actual time taken by computer and user to complete tasks is a lot quicker.:D

I'm guessing an announcement at the WWDC with Sept. ship dates.

People are so worried about ship dates. What's the longest Apple have made us wait recently - about 6-8 weeks I think, and even then, there was a lower spec model available a lot sooner. IF the 970 is announced, it surely CAN'T be more than 2 months to delivery or other PowerMac sales would suffer too much. Remember, that's HALF the time for a quarterly earnings report!!
