Yeah, $100 off the base MBP was unexpected. That paired with the free ipod and $100 rebate for a printer is a pretty sweet deal for students.

Check the GPU lineup in the new MBPs - you'll see something weird going on. Strange considering Snow, wouldn't you say?

To get to the 9600GT GPU you now have to shell out $1999 - wasn't it like $1849 previously?

I had forgotten about the free iPod promotion. I could swap this one for the new version without taking the eBay hit.

I know -- I was just reproducing what's on Apple's page. Maybe this is in flux? Lower prices would be better prices.

Yeah, because at $499, I could try and sell my unlockable 16GB 3g for $250+ at which point a $250 upgrade is then reasonable for me. :)

Leopard launched at $129. I'm guessing for Tiger users, this'll just replace Leopard at $129.

It appears that it won't be available as a standalone "full" OS: :(

"If your Intel-based Mac is running Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger, purchase the Mac Box Set (when available)"

However, I will happily pay the NZ$19 for the upgrade :)

I want to get the iPhone 3GS, I just hope I qualify from our AT&T overlords.

I am in the 18 month of my two year contract with them. I went to AT&T's site and it said I was eligible to get 1 16 3G for $299 with a new 2-year commitment. Or course they don't have the new iPhones, but hopefully 16 GB 3G equal what a 32 GB 3GS will be.

Yay!
As an existing customer, you qualify for the following iPhone pricing: You'll be able to choose the iPhone you want a little later in the process.
$99.00* — 8GB iPhone 3G (black)
$199.00* — 16GB iPhone 3G S (black or white)
$299.00* — 32GB iPhone 3G S (black or white)

I know MS does, but that does not dignify the responses I got for my so-called negativity which in my opinion are design flaws for my usage(Pro Audio).

I am disappointed in Apple, much like MS did years ago.I use what works for MY NEEDS not some trend setting IKEA elitist POS that Apple has become.Aplle is more about visuals now, the wow factor.I care for utility and expansion possibilities to get the most bang for the buck.

So, yeah, I am even more upset at the remarks left by some here. Its the the Apple fanboys that are some of the nastiest people(esp. on this forum) that really set me off.Its cool to like a product, even praise it.The group bashing by a products fan's is wrong and sad at the same time.

Interesting. I do audio too; exactly what do you find lacking in their current line-up that left you wanting more, in comparison to the last 20 years? What does Windows offer you in Pro Audio that OS X does not?

No, the entry MBP was $1999, which was the cheapest 9600GT equipped Apple notebook.

It's like they have to do one non sensical thing per update per product line -

1) iPhone 3GS - just a 3MP camera when most other phones are moving to 5MP?

2) Macbook Pro - SD card slot instead of Express Card, no choice? You have to buy a 17" to get the Express card - what kind of dumb, illogical thinking is that? They should have given a choice or heck should have included both.

3) Snow Leopard - What a lame update feature wise. $29 would be an cool upgrade price if Exchange support worked with Exchange < v2007. I am betting it still won't work for me as it did not on the iPhone as our Exchange server uses certificate auth.

But the price updates were very welcome - the entire MacBook line is now more reasonably priced - the Air looks great at $1499 and the MacBook Pro 15" w/4GB RAM is also justifiable at $1699.

Now when they get off the Nvidia junk - I will consider upgrading.

netbooks are going to be so 2008 and 2009 in a few years... why would i go out and get a watered down laptop? when i have the iphone which i consider a watered down laptop?

Well it isn't...its a mobile phone, a darn good one, but it is NOT a laptop(and a netbook is actually a physically smaller, but same form factor)

Sorta disappointed, I'm not sure I'll be upgrading...I was expecting to, but at 499 for a 32GB model, I'm less sure. Snow Leopard looked good! I could put the cash towards a new Mac(lord knows I'll need one!)

no sir... :D

I am now trying to talk the wife into the $99 3G

i'm going to call AT&T later and whine.

pretty mad that my 3G stopped working (not from water damage) but having it out in the rain eight months prior once meant it was out of warranty..

Go out for a walk.

Can I just ask, to get a cheap Iphone, what do you have to do to be classed as a "existing customer"?

Where is iPod Touch with camera?

Apple has nicely updated MBP to achieve lower cost for the base model, by removing the express card slot, and to provide convenience of SD card slot at the same time. What an excuse of Apple. Even the high-end 15-in doesn't come with the slot for future expansion. Hooray for people who don't care about express card slot. :(

Otherwise it was an exciting WWDC compared with the past announcements. What a deal for Snow Leopard Upgrade.

You need it more apparently - I mean why bother if you have nothing concrete to add? (And no fanboism does not count as concrete). :p

A walk is a concrete suggestion. :p

These are some great products, no fanboism here, maybe if you take a walk for a while you ll come back refreshed and appreciate the price cuts, the firewire in the 13" macbook pro, the great features, almost incomparable of the iphone 3g s and os 3.0, the great features and major overhauling with snow leopard that is offered for a price that would buy you 16 snow leopard before reaching the $450 mark of vista ultimate crapware....
