I looked on AT&T's website. Says I qualify. But yeah, they won't make an exception, you need to finish your contract first.

Is this what yours says?

As a valued AT&T customer, you may be eligible for an upgrade on this line, with no-commit equipment pricing and without signing a 2-year commitment. Click 'Upgrade Today' to view your upgrade options.

i click on it and it just sends me to a shop for phones page..

"For non-qualified customers, including existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G, the price with a new two-year agreement is $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).

Education store is up. Base 13" Macbook pro is now $1099. Unreal. So glad I waited.

What is AT&T's upgrade pricing? Does it tier down at 1yr or is it no discount until your two years are up?

What happened to the lower priced data plan rumor?

Argh. AT&T ruins it again.

Who's going to buy this new phone? Everyone who wanted an iPhone already has one and can't buy another one for another 1-2 years. The only one I see selling is the $99 phone for the people who've been too cheap so far.

As above O2 will replace my 1st gen with a 3g for nowt so i'm hoping for an upgrade to 3gs for under £100

If you have a 2G, maybe. If you have a 3G the minimum cost (if you bought the 3G on release date) will be 6 months line rental + the price of the new phone & a new contract. If you bought it later, increase the cost incrementally... if you just got one that's about a £600 upgrade fee + new phone cost.

I was hoping apple would start selling them through apple stores sim free, but alas they like the headline 'low' prices too much.

Why aren't people allowed to say if they're disappointed with something?

because they exaggerate. Oh this is the worst keynote since i was born etc...thing is these people say that for every keynote...it gets old after the 3rd apple event

No you don't. It will work the same way for upgrading from the edge to the 3G iphone. You just pay the price of the phone and sign a new 2 year contract.

No. It says As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-year commitment and waive the $18 upgrade fee

I'm happy with the keynote. SL affordable and iPhone upgrades don't make me want to upgrade. Happy :D

$700? No thank you.

there are no fees. stop spreading stuff you don't even know about.

pretty sure thats not true....if you just signed a 2 year contract 4 months ago, you cant just go to an att store and buy a subsidized new phone for the low price and then sign another 2 year contract.

why would anyone then wait for the contract to finish? everyone would upgrade after 8-9 months since new phones come out all the time. You probably can get a new plan but the phone wont be subsidized.

I thought the live update format itself was really good. Maybe next year we will see a few imbedded videos as well as still photos.

I would like to have an PM referral to a thread that discusses 10.6 performance on a dual graphics equipped MacBookPro. I am curious if this is a feature of need or want.

That's how it was when I bought the iPhone 3G on the first day it came out.

Wait, so let me get this straight?

How much will it cost me, to get a 8gb 3g iphone for?
