At last year's WWDC the Mac Mini was the first Mac to be released with a non-Intel processor (albeit a prototype version of the A-Series for developers), so perhaps Apple could use that platform again this year to provide developers with early access to the next generation of the M-series.

REMEMBER… love to dream saying ‘I feel no’ could be just his own opinion, he hasn’t really leaked anything about an upcoming MacBook Pro at all… there is still a slim chance here, Apple may have just kept a lid on leaks extremely well this time round.
The lid must be very firmly shut as the Apple Store is still up, so even the commerce team are in the dark ;)

What would be the point of that? They can develop on M1 Macs they already have & scale up as and when details of new hardware arrive.

L0vetodream is always very humble. He will never say it outright.

When in doubt, I always use common sense. No Apple Store slippage on MacBook delivery dates, no word from Gurman, Kuo, or L0vetodream. The timing never made any sense given analysts said 2H’21. If they meant summer, they would have said Q3. If M2 wafer starts began in April as Nikkei revealed, the chips wouldn’t be ready until August at the earliest.

No hardware at WWDC would be a major disappointment. Apple has been riding the nostalgia train later, so when would be the best time to announce new pro hardware than WWDC? If they don’t mention anything at all, it means November at earliest.

November would be almost 700 days without an update to the 16-inch.

It's possible that they do an announcement in September/shipping September thing to get right in on the tails of the back to school/work movement, but still think they would be coming late to and missing out on a heavy sales period.

Wouldn’t this result in a flood of returns and exchanges?

Students buy the MacBook Air or entry MacBook Pro.

Organizations spend money based on their fiscal calendar.

Neither of those would be affected by an October launch for 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro.

September is iPhone month, particularly with current bottlenecks they aren't likely to overreach and jeopardise their cash cow release going smoothly...

Ideally, yes, but if there's been an unavoidable product delay, they would have to release everything at once. If they really don't announce anything today, then it will be September with a slim chance of a very odd announcement in July/Aug.

Let this be a lesson learned.

Trust the supply chain in Asia. Do not trust the guy on Twitter who has a crap track record.

If the supply chain says 2H'21, they don't mean the first week of June.

If Nikkei reports TSMC wafer starts were in April, it means we aren't getting new machines until August at the earliest.

If the supply chain says mini LED is coming, don't put your hopes on an edge-lit MacBook Pro with M1X or some half-assed refresh.

yup yup yup and yup (but people just want to believe)

That was a real bad keynote… no MBP, poor iPad OS update… wow, can’t believe they didn’t utilise the M1 in the iPad Pro

It wasn't a bad keynote, just completely unrealistic expectations from some people. Similar to those who expected iPhone 12 at the September 2020 event.

Objectively, the chances of a MacBook announcement today was basically zero if you looked at credible sources.

The features on iPadOS and iOS 15 were pretty decent.

no announcements, the wait continues...but for me, this means i'll go for an M1 iMac...not going to wait until end of year for the next iteration of the M processor..
Still sticking for the 16, it's currently mid cycle for the M1 Air... At this point I'll just keep going with what I have now.
