Narrow screen? It’s almost the width of the Plus. The difference isn’t even noticeable. What’s noticeable is how much easier it is to hold.

Ah, no. Apple never said there was going to be a shortage, independent analysts did. They say that with every launch and I never believe them. I got burned with the initial launch of the first iPad and it took a couple weeks to track one down. I also got burned with the 6 Plus by staying up so late to pre-order. That’s the first time I ever pre-ordered and the last time I’ll pre-order. My mentality is I’ll get one when I get one. I’ve gotten every single iPhone since the 2nd generation, in store, a day or two after launch. I didn’t even decide I wanted the X until yesterday morning when I saw they were available. Apple is a business. Apple has stores. Apple needs to have products in stores. Since the 2nd generation iPhone the only launch that hasn’t gone exactly the same is the first iPad. Nothing new with the launch of the X.

You do realize that the iPhone X and the 4.7" iPhone 8 both display the same number of points in width right? Which is less than the Plus. And it is quite noticeable to most, if not you.

This evenings refresh found me what I wanted. Yippeeee.

I asked this in another thread but no one really had a good answer. If I buy an iPhone for my specific carrier at an Apple retail store do they make you activate it on the spot? Or can I activate it myself later on?
I was able to buy it device only and set it up later. I just swapped SIM cards.

Does anyone knows for how many an Apple Store holds a pickup purchase? Planning to buy as soon as it is available, but will only be able to pick-up on Friday.
TIA

Oh, so I knew about verizon models, you can buy a sprint full price iphone X and it's also unlocked as well for all carriers?

Yes. Every phone sold at an apple store for every carrier is unlocked.

The ATT & T-Mobile are identical (A1901)

The Sprint and Verizon models are identical (A1865) and have the identical LTE capability as the ATT/T-mobile PLUS the addition of CDMA. So this means you could buy a Sprint or Verizon model and and use them for any carrier.

The sim-free model will be identical to the Sprint/Verizon, and hence work with all carriers.

If you paid for it and choose in-store pick up, they hold it for 21 days. IF you don't pick it up on the day of, they e-mail you to let you know that you have 21 days.

Ugh stupid Apple App makes you have a account with Att or Verizon to buy their models. They were all around me at 6am. I need a model to work with TMO so either would work. Haven’t seen any TMobile ones hit store for pickup anywhere near me. ‍♂️

If the in-Store pickup stock is out online for my local stores, can I walk into the local Apple store first thing this morning and expect to find one without a reservation if I get there early enough?

I would not count on it.

Quick experience from today. Saw the MR article about store availability check coming back. The article mentioned that it was refreshed at 6am local time for EU Apple Store systems, but not explicitly for US systems.

Was up at 5:55am this morning. Right at 6am I was able to see stock at Apple Stores for the day. (I'm in NYC.) Ordered one at the Williamsburg store, went in a few hours later, walked out with an iPhone X/Silver/256.

So at least for other folks in NYC, something like 6 out of 9 store had them available today. Be up at 6am to snag one. FYI!

Yeah I know the sprint/Verizon models are identical but I didn't know if sprint, being sprint, still tried locking down their phones. Good to know that either sprint or Verizon bought at Apple stores will be fully unlocked if bought full price.

So Verizon would activate a sprint model and vice versa?

I think there is a caveat with "unlocked" phones right now.

You can't just go in, buy a phone and then hook it to a network later.

It has to be connected to a current account when you buy it or you need to open a new account.

They don't open it up to "walk in and buy" for like a month or two after release.

Perhaps there is a more artful way to describe it, but this is my understanding of the process.

You can activate it later. I just bought one for my husband today. They handed me the box and I walked out. We didn't open it until we got home.

Also to answer on why they still have stock. I was told if people do not pick up their reservations in whatever time frame. . . 24hrs maybe, they make them avail for purchase. That is how I was able to snag mine today which apparently was the only one

Same thing happened to me.

No. You can go buy one right now without activating it. You just need to walk in, ask if they have the X in whatever capacity for whatever network, and if they have it, they'll sell it to you. You cannot buy more than two of them.

That's why scalpers have a number of people standing in line to get paid for their time standing in line.

The "No Sim" phones for walk in and buy are about a month or so away and once stock gets stable and those are released, there is no longer a 2-phone limit.

Checked at 6am this morning and all configurations in the north NJ/Manhattan locations were sold out... :(
[doublepost=1509978322][/doublepost]Need to switch my T-Mobile version for the Verizon version because before with my iPhone 6 I had decent coverage at home with AT&T but now I can’t reliably hold LTE...
[doublepost=1509978352][/doublepost]So I am assuming it’s the new intel modem which is doing me in

Hey, I'm in Hong Kong airport right now and an authorized Apple reseller has my 256 GB Space Grey iPhone X just sitting here, I can walk out of the store right now for $1700 USD.

Question: I'm with AT&T in the USA, so to make sure I'm considering the right version with the right receiving frequency, can someone tell me which version to make sure I'm getting? I know GSM vs. CDMA of course...is that it right there? Or are there different variations of GSM models I need to be concerned with?
