Either they got more phones than expected. Or the more likely is perhaps ppl aren’t as thrilled with the X as Apple thought?

Long Story short,

Purchased Silver model yesterday as that's the only color they had. Wanted the Space Gray. Had no choice. Today, Apple store near me had one available for pick up. So I went and paid and did in-store pick up.

What I want to know since it is a paid item in-store pick up, I wonder if they will allow me to cancel the order after the bring out the device and to a return and exchange my current one? But the thing here is that they only put a sticker on your device that it's for you, they don't actually scan it till they bring it out. So I would think that this would not be an issue and just do a return on my silver and do it as an exchange and then cancel the apple.com pick up order?

I suppose I can go and ask them as well.

I did cancel my pre-order from Apple.com even though it's purchased full price. But since you can only have 1 number tied to per order, you have to cancel your current order, then wait for the e-mail from apple that it's cancelled then you can do another order. Typically can take 2-3 minutes.

Yes that is what I did. Wait until you get an email confirmation that you have cancelled and then you can place an order for pickup. See you at the Apple Store at 10!

It's just shy of 0630 here on the west coast. I checked stock in Apple stores for Verizon and AT&T...every store within 200 miles of me (Oregon) has both configurations and colors in stock today. I will agree with above post that the shortage appears to be somewhat made up 🙂

I just cancelled my wife’s order. Hers was a Dec 5th delivery date with AT&T Next from Apple. We are going to pick it up today In Sacramento!!

TMobile phones appear to still be bountiful in my area. Verizon one which is a universal one has pretty much gone. I guess nobody really cares about paying in full GSM model.

No, how did you setup the pickup order? I can't find an option online to do that, and when I called the Apple store that is 90 minutes away from me, they wouldn't tell me what stock if any they have. I am not cancelling my pre-order and driving all the way there without a guarantee.

You will see it here. If it's available for pick up it tells you and you can go through the check out process you can choose the store and the time.

yeah but the issue is that you still need a carrier to buy the phone... they wont let you buy the phone outright... most scalpers probably were turned away, therefore having stock...

Yes. But not for Washington State or Oregon. Basically any Sales Tax-free State didn't allow any walk-in's.

How are you guys doing this. Apple just told me and my wife that the at&t next plan is attached to the phone we pre-ordered. They said we have to call at&t to try and get them to release the plan. So we can't just go and pick one up from the store.
