Yeah so my wife canceled both orders but the installment plan is still attached to my phone. So we have to wait until a local at&t store opens to get them to release the agreement. Silly stuff.

Nope. You do not. I cancelled the Next plan on my account at the Apple Store. AT&T's physical stores have nothing to do with it.

I had to cancel my order (paid in full) wait 2-3 minutes for cancelation email then reserve for pick up.

Alot of people on line yesterday still had not made their mind up, once they saw the phones alot went with the silver. It's a catch every year. Apple prob had more stock of the space gray and made that up with the space gray 256 being the hardest to get....lmaooo, it's our fault for falling for the hype
I honestly saw more than a few people paying in full for Space grays yesterday at Williamburg to re sell because the buzz was they were gonna sell for double the price, guess thats out the window now.
That is sad, though expected. I'm on Verizon prepaid, and they have the model I would want just 70 miles away.

Canceled my Nov 17-24 preorder and am picking up my 256GB Silver X today! It's a 2.5 hour drive to my nearest Apple Store, but that's better than a two week wait!

I thought about selling mine, but it's just not worth the trouble. If I decide I don't want it, it's going back to the store.
Damn that is crazy. I live in the Denver metro area where I am lucky enough to have tons of options for Apple stores. Safe travels!

Checked online (Miami vicinity) 7 - 8 - 9 AM for 256, space gray, few stores in area (beyond 50 miles) had phone intermittently, one minute available, one minute not available. Went online at 9:15, ordered available phone immediately, picking up at 12 Noon today. My suggestions is check online availability in early mornings and keep checking and you will likely be rewarded. Canceling my previous Apple online order from 3:10 AM EST which was for delivery on Nov 17th - ridiculous !
I had the chance this morning to reserve one around 2.5 hours away. Whilst I don’t mind making the 2 hour round trip to the nearest store...I’m not willing to make a 5 hour round trip just to get one a few weeks early.
I think you guys are a lot more used to travelling long distances than us Brits though. 🙂

It depends on where you live. San Antonio has stock. Houston it says not available. Bigger cities bigger needs. Lower supply.

Way easier. Remember when we heard no one will get one before 2018? Ah those were the days!
Maybe it wasn't manufacturing difficulties at all. Maybe they just decided that instead of making phones for one month and then selling that small quantity they would make phones for 3 months and then flip the switch. Except for people not near an Apple store this is working out better for anyone whose pre-order is still a week out from shipping.

I regret being part of IUP now. My phone is still sitting in South Korea while there's the exact model I bought right down the street from me. Wish IUP would transfer to an in-store pickup and I could just refuse delivery for the stupid limbo phone I stayed up late to pre-order for no reason.
