Actually, it seems more people on this forum (presumably 6 & 6+ owners not planning to upgrade) are asserting that the RAM increase is pointless, and that 1 GB is plenty for everyone..!

Apple can't win!!

neither can the consumer, 2 gb of RAM should have been included in the iPhone a couple of years ago... iPad air 2 is perfect example as to why and it came out a month or so after the iPhone 6. absolutely no reason why the iPhone 6 shouldn't have had 2GB of RAM.

God who cares about 2 years ago. And I don't think the masses do either.. How can I say that? Um - Apple sold over 250 MILLION iPhones without it and nobody cared or suffered. In fact they achieved this by offering less in their handsets than their competitors and still managed to kick the s out of them ALL.

End of story.

I don't like how Apple treats their userbase like idiots. Mentioning RAM would've been great at the press release to relieve a lot of loyal fans.
I'm sure they could've explained it in a way everybody could follow or do they all think we are too stupid?

Are you new here?

The biggest excuse given on this very forum for why it's okay for Apple to ship underspec'ed devices is "Most people don't know the difference, therefore it's okay."

The Unwashed should not be the motivating drivers of advancement.

Consider the vast majority of the iOS user base.

The iPad Pro is just one more step towards iOS replacing Mac OS X.

Is that good, or, bad?

Are you talking about the kernel, the GUI, or the filesystem capabilities?

What do you think of Microsoft's "concession" with Windows 10 that people who use keyboards and mice a lot don't find a cellphone-type GUI very convenient?

Unfortunately, half of Apple's userbase are idiots. The average user doesn't know what the heck is in their iPhone yet buy one every year for the sheer fact that it is faster, has a sexy design, probably a new feature (Touch-ID, 3D Touch) and an Apple Logo on it.

Or maybe they know they're selling us short every damn year, and won't admit it. Like the Apple Sty-... Pencil.

Because the experience is what matters not specs. The average American has no idea what a gig or RAM even means; we are the minority, the tech savvy. As prior iPhones showed well, a dual core processor and 1GB RAM out benchmarked quad/six/eight core 2-3-4GB RAM Android devices. Specs only mean so much.

"The average American"

Whoever told you that is lying to you and making you look foolish. You should immediately disregard whatever else they say, because they can't be trusted. They must dislike you a lot to feed you such misinformation. They certainly aren't on your side.

According to data from Gallup, only about 2% of iPhone users upgrade every year. 51% get a new phone every other year, and 47% hold out until their old phone doesn't work for them any more.
