About time. The iPhone 6 really should have had the 2gb of ram (in keeping with the trend of iPhones doubling ram every 2 years). But better late than never, and just makes me glad I am on the "S" cycle of phones. :)

Why is Apple so secretive about RAM? It makes no sense to me. Everyone finds out anyway; they may as well just list it in the specs.
Because everyone loves the hunt! It's another thing to keep people guessing. (Not that they need too) i'm probably (most definitely) wrong, but I see it as the same reason they keep things secret… It's more fun that way. Sneaky= :)Customers
(I know it's a stretch... Haha, it's been along day... And now I'm babbling. Ok I'm done.)

You know, I can't take a computing platform seriously unless it has at least 32GB of dual-ranked registered ECC memory. Everything else is just a toy to me. Because you know, I'm macho that way. When I show off my technical skills I'm sure to talk about the relative benefits of various north and south bridge chips, as well as the newest tantalum-based silicon.

As a professional, I've forgotten more than most people know. And I do know things. Thinking about 1GB of ram makes my ego hurt. My testicles can't even fit in 256 MB. How would I use LTE without them? And the reloads? Let's not talk about that.

I'm telling you, the buzz I get from knowing that my specs are the best is the best kind, because it's so elite that nobody even knows I have a buzz on. Have you seen the shape of the square wave in the newest broadcom chipset? It's exquisite!

I have a feeling I will too. Loved the 6Plus screen, although it was a bit big for me to use with one hand. I have fairly large hands, too. I guess I do have the 14 day option to exchange, albeit for an additional 35.00 re-stocking fee.

The other things in downgrading to the smaller screen is the resolution isn't as good. Watching video on the 5.5 versus the 4.7 is a big difference. I could definitely tell the difference. The 4.7 looked dirty and grainy in comparison to the sharpness of the 5.5. I did this as a side by side in shop using the exact same video playing at the same time when the 6 first came out. It actually shocked me to be honest. I'm not sure if the DPI is better on the plus but I'm guessing it is???

Is it possible that we would get 4 GB of RAM on iPhone 7 according to the chips history??

A8 = 1 GB
A8X = 2 GB
A9 = 2 GB
A9x = 4 GB
So A10 would get 4 GB then?? Fingers crossed

A10 = 2GB of RAM
A10X = 4GB of RAM will most likely be how Apple plays it out....

Also I'm pretty sure Apple can control the amount of RAM they want to attach to the same chip across multiple devices.

2011: 32gb of storage isn't enough, we need 64gb!

2014: 64gb of storage isn't enough, we need 128gb!

2015: 128gb of storage isn't enough, we need 256gb!

Well, it should be more. I would prefer at least 512GB, specially after Apple said the iPad Pro could be used to edit 4K Video... with 128GB or less??? What a joke.

Actually, the 6+ has a higher PPI. The iPhone 6 has a resolution of 1334x750 (326 PPI), while the 6+ has a resolution of 1920x1080 (401 PPI). In fact, the iPhone 6 has the same PPI as the iPhone 4/4s and the iPhone 5/5s.

Sort of sad then that the base model is effectively useless because Apple gimped it with 16GB storage. And since most users get the 16GB model, they're gonna have a pretty awful experience with this phone.

And before you say "OMG my grandma/wife/etc. uses a 16GB phone with no problems", this is not some budget phone meant for non techies, it's a supposedly "premium" phone with a 4k camera (!) made in the YEAR 2015 FFS.

And this is coming from someone who never had any intention of getting the base model either, but the unimaginative greed has pretty much killed any desire I had for this phone. I wish Apple users would punish them for this by not falling for such an obvious con and refusing to buy the phone, but I guess that what the haters have always said is true, people who have drank the koolaid will really buy anything with an Apple logo on it.

Just curious, but what am I not doing with my phone that would make me miss that extra GB of RAM? I'm all for more, better, faster, etc. It just seems like 1GB has been plenty thus far.

You are still at it?

Keep in mind, before the "wowz it took soon long" wave comes in, this 2GB of RAM is going outperform many/most of the 3GB+ devices out there. The amount of work they've done in memory compression (acquiring firms like anobit) and tuning the OS to the hardware is just staggering.

The androids way is to just piling things on top of the inefficient foundation and hope for the best...make me want to vomit....but hey, customization

There is 64GB at same price of 32GB or how about 128GB at the price of 64GB...

While I agree they use compression, keep in mind, it takes CPU to decompress- more than if it's not compressed at all. So, while compression can make 1gb of compressed perform better than 1gb non compressed, it can't make 1gb of ram perform better than 4gb of ram...

Has anyone who's used both a 6 and 6+ extensively noticed that this problem is worse on the 6+? I don't remember it being that bad on my iPhone 5, which also had 1GB RAM but a lot fewer pixels, no background refresh, no app extensions, no today widgets, no watch extensions, etc.. I'm honestly still surprised they'll be selling the 6 Plus for another year (if not longer), RAM hobbles the longevity of it.

They're selling it for another year because it's still a very powerful phone. The only downside to the current phones is the RAM. iOS 9 runs very well on them. Only people who like to run many apps at the same time will run into memory problems.
