Why is Apple so secretive about RAM? It makes no sense to me. Everyone finds out anyway; they may as well just list it in the specs.
Because they know they're always behind the competition regarding the memory.
Apple's strength all has to do with the tightness between hardware and software integration. And Swift is not JAVA. So no matter how much memory or gigahertz the competition has, the iPhone is still always faster or equal by experience.

Funny.

You know what's even more funny. I have a LG G2 with 2GB RAM that runs slower than a iPhone 5s. Not to mention the stutters and crashes.

I couldn't care less about the specs, as long as I get a smooth experience with clever features I really use. And regular updates (here in Japan I'm still stuck with JellyBean.)
All I want is a device that works, without rooting, without stage fright security holes, without bloatware, without performance issues after a short while of usage.

And a honest question. What's the point of coming to a Apple centric forum to tell us how superior your Android devices are?
Do you need your daily justification that you did choose the right thing?

If so. Here we go...
Yeah my son, your Android phone is super great. You are such a clever boy. *Patting on the shoulder*

Some people couldn't care less about the experience as long as they get the highest specs. For them, specs are the experience. I'm not trying to make this an iOS vs. Android thing, as there are definitely some Android phones out there that offer very high quality user experiences... but rarely do people pick iOS for specs alone. Sometimes iOS devices happen to have the highest spec in a certain category, but that's no reason to buy an iOS device.

That said, I'll never understand why some people like to wave their Android phones in our faces on MacRumors. I mean, good for you and glad you're happy and all that... but I have never and will never post on an Android forum to brag about my iPhone.

My assumption is that they don't list it to avoid most consumers thinking 2gb isn't enough in comparison to Android phones that have more RAM, because they wouldn't be aware of Apple's memory efficiency, as someone said earlier Apple's been acquiring left right and centre to incorporate technologies like anobit, etc.

Please learn how to read. I wasn't judging 60% of people. I estimated that iOS and similar OSs are suitable for at least 60% of the population. That's not judging people.

There is a small (% -wise) population that will always need a full OS. But for the vast majority, iOS or android will work for 100% of what they do. TBH I didn't think so for the longest time until by luck I was forced to use an iPad as my only computer for 1.5 months. Many people I know use them as their ONLY device. And everyone I know uses them as their primary device and a laptop/desktop as their secondary. This is across several different areas.

Is an iPad only workflow and option for everyone? No. And I never claimed that.
But it will work for the vast majority.

Maybe you shouldn't project your use-case on others?

There is a big difference between having a desktop OS at home be it primary or secondary and replacing it with just iOS.

Look, I just found your post hypocritical , slam one poster, and force your own opinion ;) with made up %.

The trick is , explain if it works for you :) 60% of people or population = symantcs , we get your point ...

I would guess that is why most of us do not care how much ram is in our phone but whether it does its job!
My 6 is great! Cant wait to upgrade to the S, this is a big upgrade!

Does not compute. You only care whether the phone does the job, and the iPhone 6 you have is 'great', so why exactly are you spending $1000 to replace it?

Well he might have a Mac and Android, or he might be a disgruntled iPhone customer fed up with Safari and apps reloading. But anyway personal experiences are subjective. Here we have the Nexus 5, which is a year older than the iPhone 6 going toe to toe and opening most of the apps quicker than iPhone 6, which on Benchmarks absolutely destroys the Nexus 5 in every category. Im thinking LG's bloated skin is to blame here since the G2 has identical specs to the Nexus 5.

Next iPhone.

Why isn't there 4gb in this phone!!??!!??

What the hell Apple!

There will always be those like that, but Apple really were dragging out the 1GB of RAM for too long IMO. Was trying to copy text from 2 tabs into Notes on an iPad Air at work and it kept intermittently reloading the tabs, those were the only 2 tabs open and being on a flaky GPRS signal this was so frustrating.

Keep in mind, before the "wowz it took soon long" wave comes in, this 2GB of RAM is going outperform many/most of the 3GB+ devices out there. The amount of work they've done in memory compression (acquiring firms like anobit) and tuning the OS to the hardware is just staggering.

My 6 also destroys my friends HTC phone that has 3GB. it is incredible what apple has achieved the OS and memory compression. Not to mention having a limited amount of RAM forced the developers to write very efficient apps aswell. So when they now have updated to 2GB and more it will run even better. Smart move apple :)

Excellent news!!! I plan on buying one 6s Plus, to replace my 6 Plus. I don't need to, I just want to.
