The 3 largest companies in America are software or software-centric companies.

Not because software is significant or meaningful to all aspects of life in 2022 or anything, but merely because you can do tricks with them.

Actually, software and the technology that it manifests is important, and actually very meaningful to modern society.

Hardware? Sure, CPUs, chips, electronics, batteries, semiconductors, all are sexy and nice. But in the modern era, hardware without software... is just a doorstop.

There once was a time when hardware was very functional and didn't need any software. I'm thinking of refrigerators, toaster ovens, and the Ford Edsel cars of the 1950s?

The very medium -- internet forums -- that you are communicating on is based on software technology. You say that's not meaningful in 2022? Pffft.

They will all copy this.
If by they you mean Android, Its's already been done. This feature was copied from the LG V10 from 2015.

No need to copy dynamic island as androids have begun to move and will move to under screen selfie cameras that are not visible on the surface so , there will be no need to hide or disguise them as what this feature is really designed to do.

Honestly i didnt know there existed people who actually thought software to be inconsequential.

Yes you are, why does anyone need the alphabet a-z in the notification bar?
Plus what’s under that Dynamic Island copy isn’t remotely as advanced, secure and fast at recognizing the user as all the FaceID depth scanning hardware is.

(…) The hardware is just a nice bonus, but other manufactures also have nice hardware or will copy apple eventually. But the nicest hardware in the world will be worthless if you have crappy software. (…)
Not gonna defend Apple’s software to be the best of the best, but at least the best integration across all devices at large (it makes using them in tandem a joy).

However, I for sure don’t see other brands trying to copy the hardware properly… the CPU/GPUs are still several years behind, compared to the latest and greatest iPhones. Not to mention the iPads that made the jump to desktop class chipsets.

“ they will try to copy the Apple experience, THEY ALWAYS DO ” - XD
that aside , it’s cool that people can reproduce it on their own outside the walled garden like it should be everywhere. I just can’t wait for a random guy to add stage manager to non M1 iPads.

When will people realize most of Apple's new "game changing" features are just software tricks.

An iPhone X still has the same overall experience as the latest Pro, can't blame em, there isn't much to keep innovating. Just lipstick on a pig or a cat.

and user interfaces are just pixels marching in sync, right?

Although not a bad effort for a couple of days work, wonder how much time and how many people it took Apple to get that far.

the iPhone’s is a lot more than just animating a rounded rectangle. to say nothing of all the time, effort and communication smong different groups to make the D.I. Available to 3rd party developers.

Back in my Flash programming days, I was able to make a copy of the macOS Dock with magnification on, and it took me about a week to get it smooth. If I had never seen the Dock before, though, a lifetime would have been too short for me to come up with it on my own.

Geeizz!! There is a difference between creating something for a bit of viral video on tweeter and creating something that works reliably on the hands of hundreds of millions. Seriously, people in this forum never fail to amaze me.

Yea it’s a shame that they will copy this. They often abandon their own ideas only to bring it back a few years later once the iPhone adopts it.

Well that phone in this pic definitely looks better and more modern than any iPhone.

The only reason it doesn’t exist now is the FaceID camera can’t function effectively through current screen technology.
Also the dot emitter, and the regular front facing camera, and the speaker, and the microphone.
